- PLOT OUTLINE
- Ignore list:
- Evil team leader is someone in upper management of a business
- Most/all of the evil team isn't native to Urobos (I guess they could be, but it doesn't matter to the plot)
- There are local businesses that are allied with the evil team (though the other half of the point is still there)
- START GAME
- You and Rival go to Mangrove's lab to pick up your first Pokemon and have Rival Battle 1
- Mangrove sends you to fetch Sequoia in Tremol Town; you meet up with Sequoia and hear a scream
- Rival just got their starter stolen near Downwards Cave, police have the area cordoned off
- Rival and Sequoia go off to Mangrove's lab, you follow, and get the Pokedex
- Blockade is cleared, proceed to Foster and get BADGE 1
- CAMEO: If you go into the coal mine, you can see members of the evil team (maybe an admin) mining or ordering miners around, but nothing happens
- EARLY GAME
- You go to the Dreamdery Farm where you get cut.
- You proceed to the forest where you encounter Ricardo, confront him about the starter and have Ricardo Battle 1, he escapes.
- Still in forest, you meet a man/woman with a couple of evil team grunts and they tell you that in addition to being a student of one of the greatest researchers in the world (later to be revealed as Northington), they are part of ____ Corp's Team Mindat (subject to change, right now a combination of mine/mineral, and data, also a website and a not very subtle pun on “mine that”), a special team within the company that is deployed to find new resources and to create new mines, they seem nice and pleasant
- Proceed to Legato and then Dronia, as you can't go anywhere else because no bike and evil team grunts block route 5. Maybe can go to Ossia, but gym leader won't take your challenge yet. Cameron isn't in gym.
- Can't fight Stella yet, get told that there's suspicious activity going on at the observatory at the end of route 5.
- Head back through Legato Town, Ricardo fights in Ricardo Battle 2 you again before you can leave
- After the fight, someone introduces themselves as the champion, remarks how strong you are for only having 1 badge, says they see potential in you
- Champ goes to the observatory, tells you to meet him/her there
- Once you get to the observatory, you find out it's a base for the evil team's operations. While they ostensibly are using as a base for mining, it seems that they're tearing the observatory apart looking for things (later revealed to be documents on Quetzar)
- Find the person who you met in the forest, along with the evil team, tells you they're an admin that was recently added to the company at the behest of their mentor (later revealed to be Northington), battle with admin 1, champ takes on other admin that also is overseeing the project (admin 2)
- Champ thanks you, you go off to Dronia and fight Stella for BADGE 2
- Stella tells you to go fight Cameron, as you're leaving Dronia, Rival comes up to you and challenges you to see if they've gotten any stronger. They get wrecked in Rival Battle 2. Go to Andante Town.
- As you're arriving in Andante, you encounter Northington, he notices you have a dex, and mentions being an old acquaintance of Mangrove (dialog gives the player a sense of animosity), thinks for a while, and asks a question if you know anything about Quetzar. You say no, he shrugs, apologizes for taking your time, and gives you a minor item (maybe a fossil)
- In Andante you meet Sequoia, and maybe Mangrove. You ask her/them about Quetzar and they say they were going to the archaeological institute anyway, so they look into it for you.
- Fight Cameron for BADGE 3
- Sequoia tells you that everything that was available at the institute was not very helpful. They only thing that was there was that it has something to do with change and that certain ancient people revere it as a god. (unknown to player, but Northington is the director of the institute and sequesters all information relating to Quetzar in a secret, private area for himself)
- MID-GAME
- Head down Cycling Road to Vivace
- There's evil team in the swamp under Cycling Road looking for natural gas or oil. They reveal they've captured Erion from the scrap yard. You fight admin 3 who has Erion and admin 1, who's there as an assistant. They reveal that they learned the locations of the golems by talking to a group of researchers at the archaeological institute.
- Champ meets you in Vivace, asks you to come with him to ___Corp. headquarters as a witness to confront president
- President has no idea what you're talking about, says that Team Mindat is also not under his command, but under the vice president's command. He finds it doubtful because the vice president is a very nice man, but he'll ask about it to see if there was a misunderstanding, and the swamp searching was perfectly legal, since they bought the land
- Encounter Rival again, they ask for a battle while champ watches, you win, but before anything else happens, Ricardo comes up and starts a battle with you, you win again. Champ says that wasn't very sportsman-like, Ricardo tells champ to fuck off and leaves. Rival is sad to see their starter again. Rival Battle 3, Ricardo Battle 3
- Champ wishes you luck with the upcoming gym battle, Rival heads off to train more.
- Challenge Oscar/Shadini for BADGE 4
- Head down route 12 and get to Day Care, Ricardo is there, you chase him off in Ricardo Battle 4, you get an egg (Lintle?) for doing so.
- On route 15, you see a group of evil team grunts heading south mentioning something about the desert. They notice you and you fight a battle or two. Continue to the Desert Pass and on to Caesura Town.
- You see the same group of grunts go into the desert and you follow them.
- You find them somewhere in the desert where they are ostensibly looking for oil, but are really looking for Eronze. You find out it's a legend that the area used to be habitable, but a golem made the area its home and made it too hot for anything to live
- You witness admin 2 catch Eronze. He/she's with the final unseen admin, admin 4. You then participate in a double battle against admin 2 and admin 4 with the assistance of a character yet to be decided, or if not with someone, then one at a time. They say they're there on orders from the head of the evil team
- Admin 4 has Erace, and it was revealed that part of the evil team's plan was to create a new golem that could stand up to the two of legend in combat and that Erace was just created recently. Northington is also there and surprised to see you, but then mocks you and leaves without a battle, mentions something about Quetzar and now having enough power. He also confirms that he is the director of the institute and was the one that told the evil team where the golems were.
- You then proceed to go on to Staccato Town and challenge the !/? sisters for BADGE 5, after the battle, someone says that a bunch of evil team grunts are going to the oil rig just offshore, and you give chase. (You get surf right around here)
- You find all four admins and beat them to get the passwords into the deepest part of the rig. You finally meet the vice president of the company who is introduced as head of the evil team. He defends his actions, says that he just wants what's best for the company, you fight him.
- After you're done with that and get back to shore, Rival finds you and is impressed with your achievements, wants a battle and you fight Rival Battle 4
- Go up to Ossia, fight fireworks girl for BADGE 6
- Go to waterfall temple because you hear that the evil team is there, but you arrive too late and they've already left. As you're leaving, Ricardo ambushes you and you fight Ricardo Battle 5
- Learn there is a big commotion in the jungle
- CAMEOS: Stella and her sister are seen at the ____Corp's building negotiating prices for metals in their factory, mention that something seems different about the vice president recently, he's become a lot more cutthroat in terms of prices (foreshadowing)
- LATE GAME
- Get to Fugue Town and fight Bug Samurai for BADGE 7 (routes 18 and 20 are blocked off, 18 opens up after you beat him)
- You follow rumors of evil team activity to the deep jungle, where you find that the forest has been completely cleared and there's a strange shrine there. The evil team is there and you encounter all 4 admins there, admin 1 is revealed to be Northington's student who got the job through Northington. Most/all of the gym leaders, maybe others like the elite 4, Mangrove, Sequoia, Rival, the champ, etc. come in at this point and could hold off the admins while you investigate further, or you battle some/all of the admins
- Vice-President reveals themself and battles you (obviously unhinged at this point). S/He has Xotec on his team, and after you win says you're too late to stop the evil team's plans, but then suddenly starts screaming and gets turned into gold. At that moment, the shrine turns into the entrance of the city of gold. Northington then appears and starts to explain everything. He's hated being ridiculed for thinking Quetzar existed, so he found some ancient scriptures that said that Quetzar was sealed away in the hidden city of gold, and that he had to break a seal in one of several temples across the region, and to do that, he needed something as powerful as the golems. However, he couldn't capture the golems by themselves, but he knew that ___Corp. had the resources to do so. In a coincidence, when he was out in the jungle around route 19, he overheard that evil team had discovered a weird shrine on an expedition and found a weird gold statue that they couldn't move. Northington knows immediately this is Xotec and goes to find and capture it. He also knows that if one is around Xotec too much and doesn't have a strong enough will, without Xochi's also being nearby, they eventually succumb to insatiable desire for money and success, and eventually turn into gold themself. Knowing this, a time ago, he gave Xotec to the vice-president, whom he deemed easier to target because of his simple desire for the best for the company and the people of Urobos. He was also famous for his charity donations and contributions to public works projects, so people wouldn't suspect him. His popularity also prevented the president from firing him, since it would cause a major backlash against the company from the public and kill the company's stock value. After Xotec's “curse” started to take hold, Northington visited the vice-president again and promised him the city of gold if he teamed up with him. To do this, they would need to capture the two legendary golems. They found out later, to destroy the seals they would need the power of another, third golem, so Erace was created by evil team scientists. Once the seals were broken, Quetzar and the city could be summoned, thus giving Northington and the vice-president what they wanted.
- As Northington is talking, rumbling starts to happen and he remarks that Quetzar has finally woken up. Quetzar descends in front of everybody there in space form and Northington comments that it is time for his redemption.
- Northington tries to command Queztar and fails. Quetzar attacks him, leaving him seriously wounded and someone comments how Quetzar took badly to being woken up. Quetzar then smashes Xotec's pokeball, as well as those of the three golems and flies away. The golems and Xotec flee.
- Shaman gym leader arrives (if not there already) and explains that Quetzar should not be woken up except for in extreme circumstances where humans are facing a huge-scale catastrophe, lest it be extremely angry, especially so for selfish reasons like Northington's. They also explain that Quetzar is a symbol of forward change when in space forme, and stagnation while in statue forme and that Quetzar goes through cycles of sleeping and waking up, and that's why there's a giant surge in society/technology every so often, but it's important that society isn't constantly going forward at a breakneck pace, because otherwise society will not be able to reflect on what it has done, it will forget its roots, and it will always be looking forward, without an eye on the present.
- At this moment strange weather starts plaguing the area, and the shaman mentions that this is likely the effects of the three spirits, who will wake up whenever Quetzar does, and are likely angry for the same reasons. The shaman then sees that you have 7 badges and says that you seem qualified to help. The shaman wants to know that you're ready, so before you go fight the spirits, you must defeat the shaman in the gym battle before they tell you how or where exactly to calm them down. You go to Calando Town and get BADGE 8
- The shaman then asks you to find the 3 spirits in their respective (former) temples (all locations not final, but suggested- the temple outside of Fugue for Patama, the Oasis for Machima, and the Spiral Tower for Yacuma) and defeat them to calm them down, as they are the key to calming down Quetzar. Once you do that, you go back to Calando Town to learn where Quetzar is.
- You then find Quetzar in __(exactly location TBD, but I think starry cave fits will) and defeat it (not able to catch it in this fight). The Shaman then summons the spirits and performs a ritual that calms it down and reverts it to statue forme. Congrats. You saved the world
- End Game
- You go up route 23 and encounter Rival. They say they are finally getting over losing the Pokemon to Ricardo, and use that experience to grow, even if they're still sad about it a little. They then challenge you to Rival Battle 5
- You continue through Upwards Cave, eventually reaching Dacapo again. You then go through Victory Road. At the end of it, you're ambushed by Ricardo and fight Ricardo Battle 6
- You then challenge and defeat the Elite 4 and the champ! Hooray!
- Post Game
- You learn of the battle frontier opening and can go there and do things
- Rival and Ricardo will both have new teams that get gradually stronger over time, like Barry's in Platinum
- One or two of the admins is/are leading a small contingent of the evil team to try and capture Xochi to sell happiness/emotional satisfaction for an exorbitant amount of money (location TBD) and Xotec for its Midas touch, you stop them.
- You are challenged by a collector/bounty hunter to capture the legendary Pokemon before they do. You can also go into Northington's secret room in the institute to get more info on all the legendaries, especially Quetzar.
- Find out president stepped down from ____Corp. because of bad press from the evil team
