  1. Death of Nationalism
  2.
  3. Nationalism has always had a negative connotation linked to it, primarily due to it's definition. As if it was wrong to love One's country, or feel that it's accomplishments were superior to others. In liberal media recently (I'm independent) there's been this fear mongering, that a Nationalist movement likened to Nazi Germany has risen based on a select group of fallacy arguments. The go-to was the Brexit (the UK leaving the European Union) and Trump's GOP nomination. The EU is an anti-democratic organisation with far too much power, they're not the good guys and have zero accountability. "Self governing" doesn't count. Trump's rise is a reaction to the current political climate and failed policy from both the left and right. Even if he became the president, there is no reason to fear a Trump presidency. The Founding Fathers of the United States have put in place, checks and balances into the great republic to make sure a tyrant never rises. Through civil war, two world wars and several recession + a great depression, the country has endured. I'm surprised conservatives aren't insulted by what many are insinuating - that the USA's foundation and constitution is weak. My point is, none of the points liberals are making are correct. I've never seen a political meme-tier ideology get it so wrong, and on a global basis as well.

  5. I would argue that Nationalism, for the most part is dead. That's why these new 'movements' are rising, but they're not Nationalists. These people will not die for their country. These people do not believe in the ideals that their country was built on. They aren't forever bullish on their country's industry and no longer feel their country is worthy. That's why these movements have popped up in the first place, it's neo-reactionary, alternative conservatism. Or an attempt to revert to how the way things were. Regression if you will. This is why the US military has opened it's arms to the gay community, to transgender people and made exceptions to how soldiers and those serving, present themselves...

  7. "because not one Nationalist is willing to die for their country anymore, they don't believe it is their country."

  9. There's no community, no shared values. Foreigners from foreign lands. In the founding of the USA for instance, you could be assured that if the person wasn't a Native American or an African American slave - they would be a White Christian - farmer, manufacturer or some service provider. Despite being from a completely different country of Europe - they would be still all be Americans and bond over this fact. Even after the atrocity of slavery, African Americans still identify as African American. A strong quote I found fascinating from a Black Nationalist was "It's better to be a slave of the United States of America, than to be a free man of Africa". Not because of it's developed infrastructure, but because of its ideals and what it stands for. A shared common goal between all Men, Women and Children that has driven industry and innovation ever since.

  11. If there was ever to be a war today, it would not be one of nation states or the world. It would be a cold, civil war. Erosion of society.
