"Son, remember this. Don't ever take the path of a miner. You know that it's a hard business down here, and I know to myself you can't stay at this place for a long time. I've been here for what felt like three months, and our work isn't finished. I dreamed of you being an engineer, or a business tycoon, but you can take anything you want, as long as it's not related to mining.

"I still can't believe you're now going to college. Despite having Alzheimer's, you were able to get yourself through all of this. I'm very proud of you. As a dad, I know you're going to graduate college, I can see it. Oh, looks like I need to go back to work. I still have to do some hardcore mining here. Ha, funny, isn't it? By the way, bye son. Good night, sweet dreams."

You hung your cellphone down, and then put it under your pillow. The mother of yours suddenly came inside, checking if you already slept, but she saw you smiling wide, with your eyes bright and joyful. She stared at your eyes, grinning like a girl finding her lost doll. She tiptoed beside you, and you told her about your dad's call a minute ago.

"Mom, dad called me, and he said he's happy for me. He couldn't believe I'm now going to college, and I'm very excited about it. Mom, can I be a miner, too? Even dad told me he don't want me to be like that, I'm just curious if can be like that sometimes." The answer to your question took too long, but your mother soon spoke.

"Um, I think you can't. You should be an engineer, as your dad told you and me. Are we clear? You should be an engineer. Remember, your father loves you, and he knows the best for you, just like me. We are clear, so good night, and sweet dreams." Your mother told you, discovering her eyes were teary. You said your good night to her, and she walked out of your room, crying already. After she closed the door, you overheard what your mother said.

"If Jack was still here, I'm sure he'd be so happy. If he was not a miner, he should be alive right now, cuddling me and his son. I really miss him. I miss his chocolate-like kisses, his warm hugs, and his bright smiles. I don't think he deserved that fate of his; he's a very loving man.

"I can't believe he was buried alive in that mountain. I love you, honey, and I will see you soon. I'm coming for you, and ''we will love each other again, just like we used to''."

You were about to fall asleep, but you were disturbed by a crying noise. After a short sad moment, the cries vanished, and you just heard a choking noise from the other room. You closed your eyes, and the choking faded to peculiar silence.
