  1. My Review of SOPhorrific's server katykadewyn.serverminer.com:
  2.
  3. The spawn is a little confusing to start.
  4. While this may vary from player to player, it may be wise to include a custom help page, to inform players of commands they may be able to perform, or how to properly utlize a wand.
  5. There should be some kind of starter kit.
  6. While sign warps are useful, they're a little outdated. Many players have become very used to using portal style systems, like MassiveGates.
  7. The chat feels a bit messy. I would suggest cleaning it up using a plugin like VentureChat, or customizing your chat plugin to be a little cleaner. Do players need to KNOW they are [Player]? It seems redundant.
  8. While I enjoy the use of a wand for commands, I was unable to craft it, and I should be able to rely on at least a few fallback commands in the event of a wand plugin failure. Notable examples include /rtp (random teleport), /warp, /sethome, /home. While I understand why you wouldn't just have this, giving players the option to choose between using a wand and using commands keeps your target audience more inclusive, instead of forcing players to become accustomed to a wand, who may already be comfortable with commands.
  9. After first getting to survival, I felt a bit lost being in the bowels of the ship. I might suggest a plugin like Holograms to create large floating signs players can easily see at a glance where to go.
  10. Also, upon entering survival, I noticed immediately I had difficulty in getting around to a place to build because of protected areas immediately at spawn. This is where /rtp would be most handy.
  11. The first thing new players will notice is the look and feel of a server. If plugins feel out of place or uncustomized, it takes away from the experience. Simple things, like customizing broadcast display messages from the default [Broadcast] go a long way. If areas are hard to get around, they will log out and go somewhere else. If things are too difficult to understand or just broken in general, they will be unable to proceed and just leave. While I think there's potential here, there definitely needs to be a lot of work done to bring it up to par. My suggestion is to work on streamlining everything. Try making yourself a default player and starting fresh to see how you would feel playing for the first time. Act as though you've never seen the server before and play from the perspective of a total noob.
  12. Finally, my last suggestion, is to get a custom domain and use a standardized domain like play.mydomain.com. It may seem like a nothing idea, but showing a, clean, custom IP to players gives your server a layer of professionalism, adding to the expectation of a great experience.
