Rainbow Dash is chillaxing at home, watching Coloratura’s new rock band’s music video when the guitarist plays an amazing solo.  She says "that looks amazing, I want to do that!"

So she goes to the phone book, looks up a music teacher and calls him. "Hi, I'd like to learn to play guitar." she says.

"Sure," says the stallion on the phone. "Just come to your lesson and we'll get you started."

"There's just one problem," says Rainbow Dash. "I'm a pony…”

"Not to worry," the stallion says. "We have new magic to help ponies. You'll be playing like a pro in no time."

Sure enough, Rainbow Dash gets really good at the guitar and she can play that amazing solo.  She wants to show her friends, so she picks up the phone and calls Pinkie Pie.

"Hey Pinkie Pie, come over!" she says.  Pinkie Pie comes over, watches Rainbow Dash play the guitar solo and thinks it's pretty cool. She also watches the music video and says "hey, that drum part is pretty cool too, I want to learn to play that!"

So Pinkie Pie goes to the phone book, looks up a music teacher and calls him. "Hi, I'd like to learn to play the drums." she says.

"Sure," says the stallion on the phone. "Just come to your lesson and we'll get you started."

"There's just one problem," says the Pinkie Pie. "I'm pony…"

"Not to worry," the stallion says. "We have new magic to help ponies. You'll be playing like a pro in no time."

Sure enough, Pinkie Pie gets really good and begins to jam with Rainbow Dash.  Eventually, they think that something's missing. They watch the video again and realize they need a bass guitarist. They call their friend Apple Jack and show her what they've been up to. Apple Jack thinks it's pretty cool, and decides to learn how to play the bass guitar.

So Apple Jack goes to the phone book, looks up a music teacher and calls him. "Hi, I'd like to learn to play bass guitar." Says Apple Jack.

"Sure," says the stallion on the phone. "Just come to your lesson and we'll get you started."

"There's just one problem," says the Apple Jack. "I'm a pony..."

"Not to worry," the stallion says. "We have new magic to help ponies. You'll be playing like a pro in no time."

Sure enough, Apple Jack gets really good at the bass and the three friends have a nice band going.  One day, while they're practicing, a stallion walks by and hears them.  He goes up to the friends and says "hey, you’re pretty good! I'm from a record label; I'd like to sign you!"

The band records an album, puts out some singles and becomes a massive success. They go on an Equestria wide tour and make tons of money.  Right before the last show of the tour, which is supposed to be in Las Pegasus, Rainbow Dash gets a call- her mother is in hospital!

Rainbow dashes off to visit her mother before the show while the rest of the band goes to Las Pegasus to set up. It turns out that she's all good, it's just a cold.

As Rainbow Dash is leaving Cloudsdale hospital, she gets another call. The Los Pegasus Express that was carrying the band and their producer has crashed into Ghastly Gorge, and there were no survivors.

Rainbow Dash is devastated. All of her best friends are gone, she's out of a job and she's stuck with nowhere to go.  She breaks down in tears and decides to get herself a drink.

So Rainbow Dash walks into a bar.

The bartender asks, "why the long face?"
