  1. [11/11/2014 2:07:26 AM] Dα♥Kατhεrιηε ❀◠‿◠: So it is 100% certain that only regional races are affected, private rooms aren't affected whatsoever?
  2. [11/11/2014 2:07:43 AM] Dα♥Kατhεrιηε ❀◠‿◠: If that is the case, the penalty should be removed.
  3. [11/11/2014 2:07:56 AM] Torran: Do you think that changing the ISO magically makes you live in a different country?
  4. [11/11/2014 2:08:22 AM] Dα♥Kατhεrιηε ❀◠‿◠: No, but Wally mentioned something different with information transfers
  5. [11/11/2014 2:09:00 AM] Dα♥Kατhεrιηε ❀◠‿◠: http://i.imgur.com/9tLyIRF.png This was the basis behind why the penalty came to be in the first place.
  6. [11/11/2014 2:09:02 AM] Torran: The penalty for using an outofcountry ISO only applies to Regional mode, where we expect players to be regionlocked to their home region, and not pretending for the sake of slowing down the experience for Regional players.
  7. [11/11/2014 2:09:28 AM] Torran: That logic only applies to non-P2P connections.
  8. [11/11/2014 2:09:50 AM] Dα♥Kατhεrιηε ❀◠‿◠: And since WFC and Wiimmfi are peer2peer it shouldn't matter?
  9. [11/11/2014 2:09:51 AM] Torran: Having a server that all players communicate between for information transfer.
  10. [11/11/2014 2:10:07 AM] Torran: P2P is a direct line of connection, this logic therefore does not apply.
  11. [11/11/2014 2:11:01 AM] Dα♥Kατhεrιηε ❀◠‿◠: ok
  12. [11/11/2014 2:11:35 AM] Dα♥Kατhεrιηε ❀◠‿◠: [Sunday, November 09, 2014 11:28 PM] Wally:
  13.
  14. <<< what im wondering is if it has it automatically connect all regions directly to it or if it tries to establish a connection to the regional server first. or if it initially goes to wimmfi then sends a signal out to the regionWhat should I tell Wally
  15. [11/11/2014 2:12:10 AM] Dα♥Kατhεrιηε ❀◠‿◠: "It's peer2peer, none of that applies"
  16. [11/11/2014 2:14:10 AM] Torran: His logic will only apply if a server acts as a middle man for data transfer.
  17. Once a race initiates, all data becomes pure P2P, meaning all peers must form a connection with other peers. The structure would therefore look more like a web, rather than a star (where all connections diverge to one server).
  18. [11/11/2014 2:17:42 AM] Dα♥Kατhεrιηε ❀◠‿◠: I see.
  19.
  20. A different region ISO or disc would possibly affect a star structure then.
  21. [11/11/2014 2:17:53 AM] Torran: Not at all.
  22. [11/11/2014 2:18:19 AM] Dα♥Kατhεrιηε ❀◠‿◠: So his logic is completely flawed?
  23. [11/11/2014 2:19:55 AM] Torran: In the peer to server scenario, the optimal case is finding the best server. This can be done by your region setting, or just by ping alone. Most modern games aren't so limited to lock your server to a region, and would probably determine it by ping.
  24. [11/11/2014 2:21:53 AM] Torran: Even if he considered that case, he would've realized that all of Nintendo WFC's servers originate from one single location, so that wouldn't make sense either way.
  25. [11/11/2014 2:22:30 AM] Dα♥Kατhεrιηε ❀◠‿◠: Yeah... if they were all in one location, how would any of what he said work
  26. [11/11/2014 2:22:38 AM] Dα♥Kατhεrιηε ❀◠‿◠: In the peer to peer scenario, how is dodging the region lock for regional races causing lag, and if it causes lag in regionals how will it not cause lag in a private hosted room?
  27. [11/11/2014 2:23:53 AM] Torran: If you are American, and you join a Japanese Regional...
  28. Under the assumption that the region is locked:
  29. All players in a Japanese regional should live in Japan.
  30. By joining a Japanese regional and not living in Japan, you bring lag to the room and deteriorate overall performance. It is frowned upon.
  31. [11/11/2014 2:24:37 AM] Torran: The same goes for any other region specific rooms.
  32. [11/11/2014 2:26:02 AM] Torran: The cause of lag is purely physical distance, nothing more.
  33. [11/11/2014 2:26:10 AM] Torran: We have yet to defy the law of physics.
  34. [11/11/2014 2:26:13 AM] Dα♥Kατhεrιηε ❀◠‿◠: I get it now... it's all about the location of the people playing in the room. If everyone is American but one person has a red line then nothing should change, period?
  35. [11/11/2014 2:26:56 AM] Torran: If Everyone is American, and one person is Japanese, the one Japanese will add more lag to the room than all of the Americans combined.
  36. [11/11/2014 2:27:43 AM] Dα♥Kατhεrιηε ❀◠‿◠: My scenario has everyone as American, but one American faking a Japanese region.
  37. [11/11/2014 2:27:50 AM] Torran: Then there is no such issue.
