  1. It all started with a group of genetic scientists modifying the DNA of animals in attempt to discover some new scientific breakthrough. Their goal wasn't to save anybody or benefit humanity, their goal was to strike it rich. Having literally no morals the scientists conducted many unethical experiments on humans. They attempted to splice two species together with no real goal in mind, they believed during their trials they would discover something that someone would pay a lot of money for. The first real success the group wasn't creating some sort of fire breathing lizard (DRAGON) but when they were able to successfully splice together the DNA of a mole and a human (COMBINE), the result was something that could be best described as a baby sized furry creature with small eyes and hands suitable for digging. There were 11 of these creatures successfully birthed and during the observation of the creatures they seemed to be fairly intelligent and able to learn at a very fast pace. Within six months they were able to complete tasks most human children wouldn't be able to do within their first 10 years. It was at this point the scientists believed these creatures were becoming too intellegent and that they were basically pointless so they planned to euthinise them. Shortly after this order the mole children managed to escape from their cages and burrow out of the facility. There wasn't much the researchers could do after the escape due to the nature of their research, they assumed the creatures would die off shortly (FUTURE) due to living in captivity their entire lifespans and probably possessing zero survival skills.
  2. Twenty years later and humanity has been reduced to hardly of a fraction of what it once was. The mole people, already fertile once escaping their captivity almost immeditally began reproducing and building their empire. Making complex networks underground made them nearly undetectable and provided them great offensive abilities. Within a decade there were several thousand Mole people and that was enough to send humanity over the edge. Humanity now struggles to survive by hiding, the most populated human outpost is the sewers under a once thriving city (DWELLING).
  3. "It was fifteen years ago when we first learned about the mole people," the guard known as Henry Ryder said as he looked down at his scared hands (HANDS), the burns reminding him of his day in the military when the humans lost to the mole people. Wax dripped off of a candle as it slightly illuminated the area (L/W 1)(CANDLE). Ryder took in a deep breath as he peered out to the ray of light beaming into the sewers from surface above (L/W 2). "You would think we wouldn't be safe down here considering those damn things can dig." The sound of water dripping and the smell of filth was always there, moss growing in many places (PLANT 1)(SOUND 1)(SMELL 1), something you had to get used to if you wanted to survive. "They can't dig through the concrete and they're too large. hell, maybe they're too dumb to get through most of the entrances," the man kept a tight hold of his dirty, scratched, rifle (POWER)(TEXT 1) as he stood guard at one of the larger entrances to the sewers. The children of the sewer loved speaking to the Ryder, he always had the best stories to tell and this area of the sewers was one of the least humid (L/W 3) and most comfortable.
  4. The guard continued with his story until he was cut short by a loud thud (SOUND 2) that shook the entire sewer system. "W-What is that?" the other guard on post said. Ryder jumped to his feet immediately after the first crash, he pointed his finger (FINGER) towards a more secure area of the sewer system, motioning to the children, "Get out of here!" he exclaimed, raising his rifle towards the door in anticipation. The once perfect square (SQUARE) of a metal door began to bulge in and crack (TEXT 2) as the loud thumps increased in frequency (SOUND 3). The hatch placed in the center of the door pops off, (FLIES) bouncing off the ground and making loud metalic dings (SOUND 4) as the door is bashed in even more. "How the hell did those things find us!" guard 2 exclaimed. "I-I Don't know, I heard a rumor those things can hear what happens miles away but I never believed those horror stories." Nearly ever crash the men would take a step back readying themselves for what could only be assumed as their demise. At this point nearly every armed guard who wasn't hiding in a corner stood with their rifles pointed at the door. "We might as well put up a fight instead of being slaughtered like farm animals," said one of the guards, "Someone stay with the children, we can't let them be taken. You know what to do if we're overrun."
  5. The rusted hinges began screeching (SOUND 5) as they began to give out and rays of light beamed through the gaps beginning to form (L/W 4). A large gust of air (L/W 5) provided the armed guards a brief smell of fresh air and grass (PLANT 2)(SMELL 2) but the enojyment was cut short when the door fell flat, the sound of the impact echoing throughout the sewer system. Light flooded through the sewer system from the now open entrance. Time stood still as the eyes of the guards readjusted for a moment allowing them to make out of the figures of the mole men. The mole men, standing at around 9 feet tall stood upright almost like humans. Their arms and legs were covered in a thick black fur (TEXT 3) with their chests being absent of fur at all instead replaced by what looked like thick leathery skin (TEXT 4).
  6. Henry Ryder stood nearly 20 feet away from the closest Mole man. His rifle trained right at the mole's mid-section he was visabily trembling as many throughts began racing through his head. Ryder remembers crouching over one of his fallen comrads, doing everything he could try to do to extend his friend's life. There wasn't much Ryder could do for his friend. The hardest thing Ryder ever had to do in his life was leaving his friend to die. He believed he might be able to save him despite the fact he was pretty much ripped to shreds. Ryder barely made it out of there alive himself, escaping by swimming across the lake by where he was stationed as the fire that was at the battlefield marched through his base and the forest (PLANT 3) around it, the wind sending the smell of ashes all over the valley (SMELL 3)(ELEMENTS).
  7. He wasn't going to run this time, Ryder told himself as he stared death face to face. While there was only four mole men attacking the station that was more than enough to wipe out the entire population (STRUGGLE). What seemed like an enternaty was only a second or two before Ryder barked the order to his allies, "Fire!" (WORD) The deafening sound of numerous rifles going off echoed through the tunnels. The smell of burnt gunpowder filling the area (SMELL 4) with the sound of each shot increasing in intensity and making the sound nearly unbearable.
  8. Once the first creature dropped after several hundred bullets (ABSORBS) the men were supprised how easy this fight was going. The remaining three Mole men seemed to be in pain, grasping at their ears. "They can't stand the sound!" Ryder exclaimed as he watched one of the Mole men fall to the ground with a loud thud. "End their lives," Ryder said, motioning one of his men over to the Mole men that were shreiking in pain. The sounds that emitted from the mole men almost sounded like english but Ryder took no attention to it.
  9. The guard who Ryder commanded to finish the job made his way over to the fallen creature but was stopped in his tracks (ERROR) when he realized what the Mole Man was actually saying. At this point the rouge guard rose his rifle once again and directed it at Ryder, muttering "You're a monster." The guards were taken back at first but followed suit after also making out the pleads from the moles. It didn't take long for the guards restained Ryder and heard the full story from the Mole Men. Apperentally, Henry Ryder was a wanted man. Ryder somehow managed to convince the guards that the Mole People were out to kill them all after he stumbled across a ski lodge near his old military base. All the noise and commotion was from when Ryder accidentally set fire to his barracks and tried to blame it on one of the mole children the base was taking care of. One thing lead to another and when he was speeding away from the scene he struck his only friend with his car (WEAPON), escaping to the water once his getaway vehicle was destoryed.
  10. The guards and the mole men all laughed about what happened after they realized the one mole man they shot up was wearing a rugged bullet proof vest (TEXT 5) and was just fine. All the guards felt really dumb when the Mole Men told them humanity was doing just fine and that they were hiding in the sewers for nearly 10 years for nothing (RESULT). After spending more than 10 years breathing in the same dirty air of the sewers Ryder will get to spend the rest of his life enjoying the similar smells in prison (SMELL 5).
