  1. Toronto Blue Jays may be stuck with most of the same old faces for 1989, but at least they'll look slightly different.
  2.
  3. Jays unveiled their "new-look" uniforms for 1989 and the biggest change involves a move to gray road uniforms from the powder blue travelling suits of seasons past.
  4.
  5. There was no mention from the team as to the increased souvenir sales such a redesigning will produce, nor when replicas will be available for public sale.
  6.
  7. "I like them. They'll make me look slim," catcher Ernie Whitt joked of the new togs, which will feature buttons and (blue) belts, something the players had asked for. Previously, the uniform top had been a doubleknit pullover and the pants had a waistband.
  8.
  9. The complicated logo - stylized birdy head and maple leaf resting on a red-stitched baseball - will shrink and move from the middle to the left side of the chest. The buttons are going up the middle now.
  10.
  11. The Jays cap also will change to a home and road variety, with the current white-based cap good enough for the patrons at home, but a solid blue cap showing up on the road. The road shirt also will say "Toronto," rather than "Blue Jays."
