1. Name: Rhea
2. Race: Half-goblinoid
3. Class: Hedge Witch
4. Specialty: Empathic Fire
5.
6. Higher Ambition: Baking! Specifically. She can cook other things, but she's interested in making fancy deserts, mostly.
7.
8. Lower ambitions: Fascination with the sun, as a moth to flame (or in this case, a small flame to a larger, all consuming inferno she could lose herself within).
9.
10. Innate Power: Fire bending / empathic communication with flame (and sufficiently flame-like magics).
11.
12. As her emotions are made manifest in fire, she's also able to "talk" with other flame. The tactical utility of what a given fire is thinking or feeling is debatable (so that conflagration in the fireplace isn't satisfied with the quality of it's fuel. Does the party care?), but it does open the door towards persuading flames into behaving differently. Natural fire is usually pretty amenable.
13.
14. Communication with magical flame is something like talking to a smart weapon. Depending on context, relative intellect, what it's actual orders are, skill / power / disposition of the caster, this may allow tricking it, usurping control, or turning it back on its master.
15.
16. If/when she gets structured spell slots: the ability to communicate with magical flame she creates herself means an increase in fine control and accuracy compared to a similar peer, all other things being equal. (Since she can effectively debug / issue new orders to her smart weapon AIs on the fly as opposed to being limited to built-in UI controls, or worse, fire and forget controls).
17.
18. As a consequence of her power, she's magically fireproof and heat resistant (like diplomatic immunity, flames hesitate and ask permission before harming her), and extends (imperfectly) to her equipment.
19.
20.
21. Phobia: Unnatural / magical darkness. Anything that light fails to illuminate the way it should. Possibly sufficiently aberrant distortions of light as well.
22.
23.
24. Mutation: Her emotions made manifest in flame.
25.
26. Usually orbited by several small will-o'-the-wisp style flames, whose general appearance (color, internal fluctuations, intensity) responds involuntarily to changes in her emotion (acting as a kind of mood ring). As this fire is an extension of her self, it can be trivially controlled with her active ability (no having to negotiate with it), should she exert it (allowing her to manipulate the shape of her flames, crank up the brightness for a while, upgrade them from wisps to proper balls of flame for an attack, force them to move in patterns other than their default sedate orbit, etc). Gets synthesia from her flame-whisps interacting with things.
27.
28. She can exert an effort (via active ability) to suppress these wisps, but not indefinitely, and prefers not to. (Say, hours at a time, but not days without a break? Might be more sustainable if she was carrying something like a zelda-bottle so she could have a wisp manifested but hidden).
29.
30. Supernatural Vulnerability: Super drowning powers. Being put in an environment where it's impossible for her to create flame is unhealthy, as it's a spiritual extension of herself.
31.
32. (Don't worry about bathing, when you're completely fireproof there's an obvious alternative to washing with water).
33.
34.
35. Languages: (we don't normally include this at char gen, but it's sort of significant here)
36.
37. Elemental Gobo: 3 (native speaker)
38. (If there's variants for old-gobo versus modern Orcus worshiper gobo, 2 in the later).
39. Elemental Fire: 3 (second language, supernatural gift for it)
40. Quenyl hand-jive: 2 (she doesn't really have enough hands, but she can fake extras using flame wisps in a pinch).
41. Humish: 1 to 2 (picked up what she could secondhand underground, as it's what those interesting surface people she's seeking out speak).
42.
43.
44. top of head: Cinnamon Incense (useful, burns, played a role in certain religious rituals, plus it's a spice you could cook with)
45. left shoulder: Cookware (limited set of pots and pans)
46. right shoulder: Greekfire
47. chest/neck: Bronze statuette (representation of her fire-divinity mother)
48. left hip: Knives (of a type more suited for cooking or gathering than combat)
49. right hip: jug of oil (can be used for cooking, rituals, negotiating material)
50. hidden somewhere uncomfortable: tools for lockpicking and field surgery (trivial sterilization, and can probably be used for tweaking fine details on dessert preparation)
51.
52.
53. Background:
54.
55. A native of the depths, rather than an adventurer who delved too deep. Before the Church of Orcus moved in and allied with them, local goblinoids primarily revered certain sites of geothermal activity. In one such case, the relevant local divinity lay with one of those remaining faithful geyser-worshippers, with the intention of creating a political pawn.
56.
57. Of course, politics being what they are, these plans never really came to fruition. Rhea's background left her as something of a priestess, a duty she was always reasonable content to fulfill (and she honors her mother still), but her real passion was always backing. Something that she really couldn't explore to the fullest back home. There weren't exactly the right supplies, and the local culinary traditions ran in a different direction. So with her mother's (confused, but tolerant) blessing, she's off to see the surface and master her culinary field of choice in a more favorable environment.
58.
59. (I'm thinking heritage means she would come across as really tall for a goblinoid, but pretty short for humans. Somewhat odd looking to both, as a human might find her nowhere near ugly enough to be a golbin, and vice versa).
