Anonymous Message to Red Lion Area Senior High School Principal Mark Shue:

Greetings citizens of Red Lion, Pennsylvania. We are Anonymous.

An unacceptable case of discrimination in your high school has come to our attention. It seems that your new principal, Mark Shue, has made a unilateral decision to block a transgender student from running for prom king. This decision was made after the student, Issak Oliver Wolfe, worked hard and gathered tremendous support from other students who were pledged to vote for him.

On the day of voting, Issak went to cast his ballot. However, he found that his name had been switched to his birth name and put into the girls' category. Embarrassed and extremely distraught, he immediately went to the principal's office but could not meet with him. The reason behind the switch of the ballot was the decision of principal Mr. Mark Shue. His reason for not allowing Issak to run for prom king was that he "felt uncomfortable with it."

Mr. Shue, your bigotry has gained our attention, and your small-minded and discriminatory conduct is reprehensible and intolerable. The fact that you are a member of the Jewish Community Center's 2012 – 2013 Diversity Advisory Council is an irony not lost on us.

Recently you shared these words, "You're always apprehensive about things you don't know about. Then once you get into it you find out, hey, it's not so bad." – Principal Mark Shue

We urge you to heed your own words, reconsider your position, and immediately allow Issak to run for prom king. If you do not change course, we will bring tremendous pressure down upon your administration.

You have until 2pm eastern on Monday, April 22 to announce that Issak is eligible to run for prom king.
