[13:29:56] * Mackenzie is out on the deck, the day after Melanie and Knox had their big talk. He stands majestically as always, eagerly but patiently awaiting their arrival to the scene.
[13:31:24] <Knox> Knox eventually comes up on deck after somet ime, his injuries looking less and less worrisome with all the care he's gotten lately. Definitely no longer has a need for a wheelchair.
[13:32:21] <Melons> Melanie creeps up shortly after Knox. Her typical dour appearance is replaced with one that looks...a little happy. Mayhaps even suspiciously so.
[13:34:14] * Mackenzie turns about, to greet the new arrivals. He's already looking good as new. "Good afternoon!"
[13:35:07] <Knox> "...Hey. You look cheerful."
[13:35:39] <Melons> She sizes Mack up a bit. "...and thankfully, unbroken? Sorry about the uh...bit at the end there..."
[13:35:52] * Knox doesn't seem all that different from normal. Maybe he's a tad more relaxed. He's always had that kind of grumpy facade covering his true feelings though.
[13:37:27] * Mackenzie is having a lot of trouble keeping a poker face. He's already half way to grinning like an idiot. "Did I do well?"
[13:39:02] <Melons> Mel raises an eyebrow.
[13:39:11] <Knox> "The rewrite?"
[13:41:07] * Knox shrugs, shaking his head. "I'm not a fan of changing reality to suit the individual on such a broad scale. Erasing mistakes, undoing painful moments from one's life, it wipes away character. Trivializes consequences. But as far as all of this... I guess it's alright."
[13:41:23] <Knox> "At least we don't have to worry about the Fragment anymore."
[13:41:40] * Mackenzie smirks. "You almost sound accusatory." He walks over, his smirk failing into a full smile as he addresses the two head on. "It's only fair, isn't it? They had their brief, desperate little grab at reality to break the things they needed broken, so I... Took my own brief window, to take back the things we couldn't resolve."
[13:42:40] <Melons> Melanie squirms uncomfortably. "Y-You changed a l-lot of stuff in my f-family y'know..."
[13:43:07] * Mackenzie blinks. "What do you mean?"
[13:44:46] <Melons> "Gramps is, apparently, alive again...that wasn't Aether as far as I know...w-which don't get me wrong, it's g-great, but...big...and apparently the other me never became a significant thing, which means I have no idea how my parents met, and I have no idea if my family still knows the Mizous, because Darkrai stuff is how they met in the first place, but now that didn't happen, so I wasn't almost eaten by scary things in the womb!"

[13:45:06] <Knox> "Honestly I doubt -every- little change was Frazier's fault. Several of you were still up, there's no telling what kind of subconscious desires might have bled through." he shrugs.
[13:45:57] <Knox> "I don't really mind the little things, like with Akuman, or even Lani I guess, but when the timeline changes on a larger scale... it does make you worry a little bit."
[13:48:01] <Knox> "I'm going to guess what Mako said he wanted made things as close as possible to the original timeline though, barring the larger changes."
[13:50:32] <Mackenzie> "Well, I'm sure I didn't have a hand in those particular things...  I don't know what the original cause of your grandfather's death even was.  Anyway, I was focused on Akuman, because...  When I first met him, he swore for all the world he was human, until he lost a bet with me over a poke ball. [13:50:32] <Mackenzie> think I actively wanted to change his condition, I mean, I was at peace with him, but...  Well, you know how often I went out of my way for the guy.  I'm guessing I had some subconscious effect on him.  The important part, though, was that I just focused as hard as I could on making things...  okay.  Things that were more avoidable.  I didn't want to just exert my power over whatever
[13:50:32] <Mackenzie> I wanted, I just...  wanted what I strove for to end up a bit better."
[13:51:05] <Knox> "I think Lani might have been more Mako's influence."
[13:52:30] <Knox> "I'm not actively condemning you or anything, I just happen to feel pretty strongly on a number of things that this mess got tangled up in." he goes and leans on the railing.
[13:52:36] <Melons> "Uh? It wasn't...you? ...was it me?...I didn't really wish for...ugh, I'm SO over stupid glitchy reality fucker things for at least several decades..." Melanie groans. Anyone more attuned with the occult stuff might notice a more...primal power in her. Similarly, her aura is likely no longer glitchy at all.
[13:53:13] * Mackenzie looked down briefly and shook his head a little. "Anyway. I wanted to make sure I spoke with you two, for something."
[13:53:52] <Knox> "Yeah? What's up?"
[13:54:17] * Knox probably has noticed this change in Mel, and wonders how much of it was his fault, and how much of it was her's.
[13:54:49] <Mackenzie> "I have a career to return to soon, y'know?  But I wanted to know what you guys were thinking about doing..."
[13:57:02] <Knox> "I was considering setting up in Razor Crags."
[13:57:18] <Melons> Melanie glances at Knox for a second and then says to Mack, "WELL! Assuming everything's normal, I should be starting my gym. But I was also going to start a uh...school. For...well all sorts of things. Mostly occult research, but also to help other weirdos learn their power. And hopefully somewhere to treat more magical ailments. Basically somewhere where we can all learn to never fucking ever do what's happened here again." She l
[13:57:18] <Melons> ooks away, blushing a bit. "And I uh...was hoping to borrow Jennifer for a bit at the start...before you go off to do whatever...and if you wanted to stay or something then...cool..."
[14:01:29] * Mackenzie addresses Knox. "What about the old crew? Getting back in with them? What'll they do?" Then to Melanie. "I'm glad you've got yourself a realistic goal, finally. If what you need Jennifer for is about finances, well... I've been plotting about such things for a while already. It's a part of why I made sure to reach you."
[14:02:31] * Knox holds up his hands and shrugs. "There isn't much for me in a future life of crime, after all. The government has way too much dirt on me and most of my old crew is looking to go straight. And looking back... I was never really a criminal for crime's sake. It was about the people I was with that made it worthwhile. Everything I've done, I feel like I've done for someone else's
[14:02:31] * Knox sake. Maybe that won't change, exactly, but I feel like being a little selfish, too."
[14:02:42] * Melons squiddles slightly at the word 'realistic'.
[14:06:06] <Mackenzie> "Well, to my point...  You know, I'm a fairly successful man.  I have connections.  I -am- connections.  I haven't really been able to do much with them, aside from Jennifer, who was...  not easy to procure.  I'll be leaving for a while, til I can visit again, but...  I want to help."
[14:06:38] <Knox> "I'm going to miss the thrill and rush of doing whatever the hell I want, but there's something out there I want even more than that." he trails off like he could elaborate, but he doesn't. Mel likely has a good idea, though!
