  1. I don't remember the post this was requested in, but I'm going to admit it...this is weird.
  2. -----
  3. The Grand Experiment
  4. ----
  5.
  6. “Please...you're the only one who can do this,” Rose Quartz spoke in that melodious voice.
  7.
  8. “No. Not even for you, Rose.” Pearl turned away from her superior. If she looked into those eyes, she feared she might betray even her most sacred of principles and common decency. “If you need something so vile constructed, even for such a short time...ask anyone else.”
  9.
  10. The fact that 'Mister Universe' was standing in front of her, now, did not make any of this easier. For what it was worth, he was looking at the side of his van with a flushed face. His hair was still majestic and graceful, blowing in the sea breeze.
  11.
  12. Rose would fight harder for his sake. He was her favorite, after all.
  13.
  14. “I could not ask Garnet to do this due to her views on the matter, and Amethyst is too transient in focus despite her expertise in shapeshifting,” Rose insisted, stepping around to come into her view and to slip an arm around Greg at the same time.
  15.
  16. That was enough to stoke the flames of irritation in the warrior. “What is the point of this brutish human ritual to you? What end is appropriated by the exchange of fluids that are entirely unnecessary to our continued existence and must later be expectorated, in a fashion that I find quite repuls-?”
  17.
  18. Rose smiled and grabbed Pearl's shoulder, pulling her close. “The experience, Pearl! Just like when we found Garnet: this is something that we've never done before. Why not here, why not now?”
  19.
  20. Unfortunately, if Rose was really going to insist...she'd have to pull out all of the stops.
  21.
  22. “If the experience isn't good...then we don't need to have him around any more, right?” She smirked. It was a cheap shot to pull on her leader, but it surely would be the only way to end this dispute.
  23.
  24. The way he looked up at Rose, eyes so wide and mouth agape, amused her. That was the end of this little issue. It was easy to coerce a human by taking away what they valued, and Rose valued him enough to be just as vulnerable.
  25.
  26. “The experience will be good...for all of us, Greg...” She looked down at him, a small frown on her face.
  27.
  28. “Y-you're putting me on the spot here...but...” Greg exhaled heavily. “Rose, if you can live with that...I can live with that.”
  29.
  30. Pearl felt her heart sink.
  31.
  32. Rose Quartz smiled and kissed him on the lips, before turning toward her dutiful second-in-command. “If that's good enough for you, Pearl, I would like to proceed.”
  33.
  34. Now, it was either defy Rose Quartz or accept the performance of this human ritual.
  35.
  36. That was no choice at all.
  37.
  38. “Let us begin.” Pearl offered her hand with a heavy sigh.
  39.
  40. The dance was swift, as always. Though she participated willingly in this endeavor, Rose was always in control and it always moved at her pace: a mile a minute.
  41.
  42. The rush was worth surrendering herself in her entirety, however, and the power she felt when she was part of Rose.
  43.
  44. Excitement raced through her, and her might felt endless as Rainbow Quartz turned toward Greg and grinned.
  45.
  46. Four eyes focused on one man, and a sultry voice spoke down to him, “let's make this the best experience we can ever have.”
  47.
  48. Inwardly, she began molding her projected form. Though she as a whole had control of this entire process, it was strange for one inner voice to give instructions and the whole to simply do.
  49.
  50. Pressing all of her eyes shut and giving a shudder, she felt her changes take shape. It felt at the same time unwholesome and endlessly exciting to feel the proper chill of the night air as her lower body shed its melded clothing and developed an entirely new orifice.
  51.
  52. How could she not be? She was the first Gem and first Fusion to do this.
  53.
  54. Her very form quivered at the thought of the discovery, and its ramifications. She would claim this human as hers, fully and completely, and he would claim her just the same.
  55.
  56. Though no small part of her loathed him, Rainbow Quartz loved him for the beautiful irony that their union would produce.
  57.
  58. She knelt to kiss him, and pulled him close as they tasted each other.
  59.
  60. She pressed him back onto the sand and descended upon him again. “Remember this, Mister Universe. We can only have one first time together.”
  61.
  62. Part of her said that because she would always love him, and part of her said that because she hoped it would be the last thing she would ever say to him.
  63.
  64. She unzipped and unbuttoned his jeans, before taking him fully in her mouth. This, thankfully, had been practiced enough times before that half of her knew exactly what to do. The other half, curious about her new opening, felt around it with her right hand. It was so small compared to her fingers, but that was by design rather than a flaw. More than a couple times, she moaned around his cock as she tended to herself and Greg.
  65.
  66. The sensations were so keen that she felt herself dampen, and it took all of her resolve to hold fast and continue her explorations as well as her pleasuring of the male. Her form shook, but she held together. This was not human filth, she insisted, but magic.
  67.
  68. He hardened quickly under her care, and she picked her head up.
  69.
  70. “Are you ready?” she asked as she poised above him.
  71.
  72. “Always,” he answered with that cocky grin.
  73.
  74. And so, she fell into a split and descended on him.
  75.
  76. Rainbow Quartz groaned at the sensation, all four eyes falling shut at once, and lost herself in the urge to bounce.
  77.
  78. Her body lit up as he began to thrust into her, and both gems vibrated with such intensity that she was sure she would come apart at times.
  79.
  80. At last, it ended with a great vibration as he plumbed her depths. She screamed and he cried out.
  81.
  82. It seemed to last for an eternity, but, at its end, Rainbow Quartz fell, utterly defeated, into two pieces.
  83.
  84. Pearl couldn't move as she stared up at the stars above.
  85.
  86. Rose giggled deliriously.
  87.
  88. Greg let out a content sigh and said, “that was amazing.”
  89.
  90. “Yeah.” Pearl had to concede as her limbs quivered without any input from her, that she had enjoyed it. On the bright side, when their fusion broke apart, the fluids seemed to fall by the wayside as well...
  91.
  92. As she tiredly picked herself up and staggered away to rest in shame, she prayed that that would be the last time.
  93.
  94. Unfortunately, it was not the last time they did it.
  95.
  96. Rose wanted to do it more and more, and Greg only ever denied her once. Pearl had only been able to refuse once, as well.
  97.
  98. It got more and more enjoyable after the first time, too.
  99.
  100. Though she theorized that it had nothing to do with Greg and more to do with her desire to improve the sensation influencing her construction of the false reproductive organs, she had no proof for her hypothesis. Unlike most scientific endeavors, their 'research' was rarely productive on a mental level. She usually just learned that it felt really, really good to orgasm with him, despite her disgust at the fluids.
  101.
  102. The umpteenth time she climaxed, staring at the ocean as she was mounted from behind, she collapsed.
  103.
  104. However, her form remained together.
  105.
  106. That was a special experience, as she realized that her body was staying together, and came to terms with the pleasurable glow that filled this moment. The experience was only enhanced by their closeness.
  107.
  108. The amount of fluid in her suddenly became quite disgusting, but she could not bring her hands down to begin cleaning herself.
  109.
  110. That area was so sensitive.
  111.
  112. As disgusting as their fluids were, humans had something going here...
  113.
  114. There was an odd sort of trepidation that came over her as the moment ended.
  115.
  116. “Hey, you two didn't...break up.” Greg panted. “Whew, you...that was good, though...”
  117.
  118. “Yeah,” she agreed, turning around to look upon him with four lusty eyes, “want to go for round two?”
  119.
  120. It happened again, and again, before she finally staggered down the hill to the Temple, naked below the waist and holding Greg in her arms.
  121.
  122. However, they did not split even after leaving Greg in his van.
  123.
  124. The experience, their togetherness, felt so good, so why force it to end?
  125.
  126. That lingering worry stayed with her, though, as she entered Rose Quartz's room and rested herself on a heavenly bed of clouds...
  127.
  128. It was only an age later that she noticed what was lingering inside of her.
  129.
  130. It was such a small amount of foreign material that it was easy to miss while her insides were painted with a combination of fluids.
  131.
  132. A creeping dread washed over her, though Pearl did not understand why-
  133.
  134. An agonizing ripple washed over her form as her body and existence tried to come apart...
  135.
  136. However, she felt a stronger will hold them together.
  137.
  138. “We can't come apart. Not now.”
  139.
  140. “Why not?” She sat up, the top set of eyes getting wider than ever.
  141.
  142. “Even a life that small and newly made...is precious.”
  143.
  144. “What?!?” Pearl screamed through a mouth that was not her own, only giving up her struggle for freedom because of Rose's will.
  145.
  146. “That was supposed to be the last time...I thought I had figured out how to do it on my own, and that I would have a few years to research all of the proper ways to do it and to discuss it with Greg...” answered a deeper, but gentler inflection of their voice, “but...I got excited and I wanted to share the joy of creation with you...”
  147.
  148. “How long do we have to say like this?!?” she shrieked.
  149.
  150. “I don't know. I doubt it can be very long...”
  151.
  152. Rainbow Quartz sighed. There was a lot to worry about.
  153.
  154. The unknown lingered ahead.
  155.
  156. As terrified as she was at the truth that hid from her, though, she was just as eager to uncover it.
  157.
  158. Though she did not wait a moment longer in seeking out that information, Rainbow Quartz was barely out of her room before Garnet found her.
  159.
  160. “You want advice.”
  161.
  162. It was such a matter of fact statement that it slapped the questions straight out of her mind. She nodded dumbly.
  163.
  164. “Consider your choices carefully.” With that, Garnet stepped past her and into her own room.
  165.
  166. The wisdom carried in those words was worth a thousand prophecies, as she sat there and did just that.
  167.
  168. It was when Amethyst came into the Temple minutes later that a single prophecy might have been useful.
  169.
  170. Getting her to sit still long enough for an explanation was impossible, especially since she came in as some sort of large dog and then spent the entire conversation shifting through her forms and none of it listening. Truth be told, Rainbow Quartz was a little impressed that she could remember so many different kinds of noises...and each one seemed to make the same noise differently.
  171.
  172. Eventually, the slowly growing little ball of energy scurried off.
  173.
  174. She let her go. For what it was worth, if it took a thousand tries to explain it, she'd get her point across eventually. Now, she just had to find her favorite human...
  175.
  176. -----
  177.
  178. Greg, conveniently enough, was tuning his guitar outside.
  179.
  180. “Greg, I'm-” She paused. “The human word for this is 'pregnant', I believe.”
  181.
  182. His eyes went wide and he set his guitar down. “I...didn't know that could happen.”
  183.
  184. “I...didn't plan on it happening so soon.” Rainbow Quartz confessed.
  185.
  186. “I-I'm happy, but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna pass out.” He fell back onto the tiny mattress in the back of his van.
  187.
  188. “That's about how I felt...” She chuckled and took a seat next to the van.
  189.
  190. “Has a Gem ever done this before?”
  191.
  192. “I don't think so. I don't think a Gem has ever tried to before.” A short pause. “We've been so busy.”
  193.
  194. “Oh.” She knew that expression, the one he got whenever he knew he was approaching a minefield.
  195.
  196. He wanted to push for more information as much as she wanted to tell him everything, she felt, but she decided not to.
  197.
  198. How much could he bear of the atrocities they had committed, witnessed, and how fleeting human existence was? He was just a phase, a wonderful phase. She would regret his end.
  199.
  200. It saddened her to think those thoughts, so she pushed those aside.
  201.
  202. Greg's voice was soft as he spoke up, “how does that even work? Will it be a human or a Gem?”
  203.
  204. “I don't know,” she admitted, “I would suppose it would be a human...but it might be something different than you and me.”
  205.
  206. And so they sat there a while, contemplating the unknown. When Greg broke the silence, it was about one of his new songs, and they wasted the hours away singing and dancing...
  207.
  208. That angry little part of her that hated him so much came to like him a little more that day...
  209. -----
  210. “Amethyst, we've got to have a talk,” Rainbow Quartz said as she finally cornered the Gem in the dragon's horde of junk she called a room, a few months later.
  211.
  212. A groan and a roll of the eyes answered her, “what, mom?”
  213.
  214. She could not resist the urge to giggle. “You're not in trouble. Even if you were, I know you don't really care.”
  215.
  216. That got her attention. She stood up, nearly a head taller than she had been when they had first met Greg a couple years ago, and her hair fell to her shoulders.
  217.
  218. “I'm...” She searched for the right words in her mind. “I'm going to be a mother, actually.”
  219.
  220. “I knew that.”
  221.
  222. All four eyes went wide. “What?”
  223.
  224. “Oh come on, I like to spend time watching humans. I know this happens when you let them stick it in.” She smirked. “I never managed to get it to work for myself, but I wouldn't want it to happen anyway.”
  225.
  226. “Oh. Right.” Rainbow Quartz shrugged her shoulders, before reaching down to rub the small bump on her stomach. She tried not to blush at the idea that she had been seen during at least one of her most intimate moments by this little rascal. “So you're fine with...this?”
  227.
  228. “Yeah. You're the boss, Rose. And Pearl pretends like she's the boss, even if she isn't.” With that, she laid back on...comparatively small mound of garbage.
  229.
  230. It took the fusion a moment to turn her instinctive grimace and glare into a smile. “Thank you, Amethyst. I'll leave you be.”
  231.
  232. It was only when she got halfway to the exit that she heard Amethyst shift and say, “what are you going to name her?”
  233.
  234. She glanced back and saw Amethyst's head turn back toward the ceiling. She swore that there was a little smile on that face before it looked away.
  235.
  236. “We don't know yet. We don't even know if it'll be a she.” With that, she turned back toward the door and walked away.
  237.
  238. “What?!?”
  239.
  240. With that, she left Amethyst to stew in her own curiosity, giggling all the way.
  241. ----------
  242.
  243. Months later, they stood on the beach. Greg's excited crab hop in front of the camera did not go unnoticed.
  244.
  245. “What are you doing? This needs to be perfect for the baby.” She giggled before she was even finished scolding him.
  246.
  247. “I thought we were still taking test shots to make sure the camera still worked.”
  248.
  249. “I've figured everything out, now,” Rainbow Quartz insisted with a grin, “go on, Mistah Universe!”
  250.
  251. “Hang on, I've gotta grab my guitar!”
  252.
  253. “That's Greg. He's your daddy, don't tell him, but I'm just gonna record everything,” she whispered as he came back and started to strum.
  254.
  255. “They call me...Mistah Universe!” He played the acoustic like it was the finest electric guitar. “Get ready, baby: you're gonna have the coolest dad this side of the cosmos!”
  256.
  257. He made some sound effects for a few seconds, and she pressed a button, before passing the camera to him.
  258.
  259. “Is it still recording?” he asked as he focused on her.
  260.
  261. “Red light's still on.” She stretched her arms over her head, before bringing her hands down to hold her belly. “Baby. This is your mother, Rainbow Quartz.”
  262.
  263. She paused, the words sticking in her throat even as she smiled. “I don't know what's going to happen. Whether you're a human or a Gem or something in between, I hope you have a wonderful life.”
  264.
  265. “You might not see much of me because...well, I'm a fusion and not just one Gem...but I love you, just as much as Pearl, Rose, and Greg.” Tears dripped from her eyes. “See you soon.”
  266.
  267. Greg set the camera down and stepped over to give her a kiss, rubbing her belly as he did.
  268.
  269. She knew where this was going, but she pulled away long enough to shut off the camera, first.
  270.
  271. There was no reason their baby needed to see that until it was ready to make its own decisions on the matter.
  272. -----
  273.
  274. She did not expect the pain that left her incapacitated on the Temple Warppad. She knew to expect this, but she had not expected it to be quite so painful.
  275.
  276. Garnet held her hand, and Amethyst...went to fetch Greg.
  277.
  278. “It'll be over soon.”
  279.
  280. Rainbow Quartz's gems quivered and burned in agony, pain radiating throughout her entire form.
  281.
  282. She saw Greg approaching, and breathed a sigh of relief even as the terrible sensations grew in strength.
  283.
  284. “Just in time,” Garnet smiled as he took her other hand.
  285.
  286. “I'm here for you,” he said solemnly.
  287.
  288. Rainbow Quartz bore down with all of her might and screamed as the pain reached its peak. The life within her quaked, and then shifted. Her mind went blank from the absolute misery, and her consciousness faded.
  289.
  290.
  291. It was only later that she awoke flat on her back on something hard.
  292.
  293. “Ugh...what happened?” Her voice sounded so shrill.
  294.
  295. “Stay calm,” Garnet answered her, rubbing her shoulders softly.
  296.
  297. “Where's...where is it?” she asked with growing unease as she sat up to see Greg with his back to her.
  298.
  299. “Right here,” Greg said, turning back toward her. In his arms was a small, pale looking thing slowly drinking from a bottle.
  300.
  301. “Let me hold it!” Amethyst stage whispered, stepping around to Greg's side.
  302.
  303. “After mama's had a chance to hold him,” he answered with a little smile.
  304.
  305. Slowly, Rainbow Quartz forced herself to her feet. It was then that she noticed what was really wrong. Greg was the same height as her.
  306.
  307. Her eyes went to her form. The light blue dress that covered her was foreign, certainly, as it went down past her knees and billowed out slightly.
  308.
  309. Instinctively reaching for her gems, one hand felt bare flesh on her forehead and the other rubbed the dress and her now flat belly. Reaching out with her magical senses, the hand on her belly traced a line up to her chest. One gem. That was all she could feel, now.
  310.
  311. She reached out for Rose and Pearl.
  312.
  313. She felt nothing in her head but her.
  314.
  315. She tried to split up.
  316.
  317. Nothing happened.
  318.
  319. Emptiness chilled her mind.
  320.
  321. She tried to scream.
  322.
  323. Her lips did not part. No sound passed through her throat.
  324.
  325. Her teeth clenched, and she almost began to try again.
  326.
  327. “Honey,” Greg spoke, handling the bottle to Amethyst, “do...you want to hold him?”
  328.
  329. Rainbow Quartz looked up at him, then down at the creature she had created.
  330.
  331. Though it was covered in a heavy white blanket, she could see top of the gem at the center of its tiny chest.
  332.
  333. She looked to her own chest and saw a nearly white circular gem with a pentagon cut and just a tinge of Rose's gem's color.
  334.
  335. The baby's gem was the same color.
  336.
  337. Taking a step forward, she held her hands out to take him.
  338.
  339. Gently bracing him against her, she could feel his warmth and the gentle breathing that kept him alive. He did not make a sound, but she knew he was there and alive.
  340.
  341. He was not a Gem, exactly, but...he had the gem to prove he was not quite human, either.
  342.
  343. The experiment, however flawed, had been a success.
  344.
  345. She smiled warmly and kissed him lightly.
  346.
  347. “So...what should we call him?” Greg asked as he put an arm around her waist.
  348.
  349. His warmth only brightened a dark and uncertain world.
  350.
  351. “Steven,” she said with absolute certainty, “Steven Universe.”
