- Wotcha everyone - we had a handful of incidents last event, where one of our players suffered some unfortunate trans-prejudice. From reading their feedback I got the distinct impression that the majority of it was a mistake, but there was one incident where a ref misidentified the player's gender and then tried to laugh it off when they were corrected. I am optimistic that that was embarrassment, not prejudice, but it understandably left the player very upset.
- Basically if someone corrects you about their gender then just apologize. I've got people's genders wrong a few times - it's unfortunate but try not to make a big deal about it - just say "I am very sorry" and move on. It's a mistake - make it clear you've made a mistake and no-one needs to be embarrassed. A mistake is only embarrassing if you don't apologize.
- If you're not clear on someone's gender - then just make an effort to use genderless pronouns. A fair few crew made a very conscious effort to do that for this player last event and they took the time to say how helpful and welcoming they found it.
- And finally - if you see anyone at the event being challenged over their gender when trying to use the toilets - please consider intervening as a member of PD crew. The number of people deliberately using the wrong toilets is non-existent - the number of players incorrectly challenging other players about their choice of toilet is unacceptably high.

- Crew aren't required to go round with PC batons coshing anyone who gets out of line, but I'm a big believer in "frown power" and if crew are feeling confident enough to challenge sexist/racist/trans prejudice then I want you to know I've got your back.
- Shit like this only goes out of fashion when people get told that it's long past its sell by date.
