  1. To whom this may concern,
  2.
  3. On July 4th, 2015 I received a summons to jury duty from the County of Muskegon Courts. I was assigned Group Number 109, and my service date is due to start the week of July 27th, 2015. During this week I am scheduled to participate in Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ) 2015, which takes place from July 25th through August 1st. This charity event raises money for Doctors Without Borders (MSF), an international medical humanitarian organization which delivers emergency medical aid to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters or exclusion from health care. This event is located in St. Paul, Minnesota. I am responsible for the transportation of two other people participating in this charity event. Due to these circumstances I am requesting a postponement of my term of jury service so that I can volunteer my time to this event.
  4. Last year SGDQ helped to raise over $750,000 for Doctors Without Borders. I have previously volunteered at this event, and I am one of the people volunteering in the main event. Postponing my term of jury service would prevent unwanted delays or disruptions to the event schedule.
  5. I am responsible for the transportation of two other attendees who will be at SGDQ 2015. These two are fully relying on me for travel. The planned trip is from July 25th with a return date of August 4th. Additionally, I already have made rooming arrangements with three other people during SGDQ. Not being able to make the event would result in financial hardship on these individuals due to increased room costs.
  6. By postponing my term of jury service until the week of August 10th I will be able to participate at the SGDQ 2015 charity event. This will prevent disruption or cancellation of plans from the event staff, roommates at the event, and the people with whom I am traveling.

  9. Thank you for your time.
  10.
  11. Sincerely,
  12. Dominic Michael Davis
