  1. >As you drifted off to sleep, you hoped it wouldn't happen again.
  2. >but it did of course
  3. >you're standing in the same familiar field
  4. >the grass sways even though there is no wind
  5. >some birds flit by, without a sound
  6. >you gingerly takes some steps forward
  7. >the dirt is loose and soft beneath your foot
  8. >a few more steps, and the metal slips, sending you careening towards the ground
  9. >you don't have time to catch yourself and plow face first into the moist ground
  10. >the first, and last thing you hear before waking up is a mysterious voice say "don't worry sweetie, I'll always be there to help you up"
  11.
  12. You jolt awake in your bed
  13. >third time this week you've had that dream
  14. >maybe you should see a therapist or something
  15. >could be post traumatic stress or something
  16. >you disregard the therapist thought as you sit up, remembering your still laid off
  17. >and unemployed...
  18. >you swing your foot over the side of the bed, and reach down for the familiar cold metal appendage
  19. >its been a month and a half since you lost your leg
  20. >a month since you had took your neice out to the zoo
  21. >and tried to cross the street during a less-trafficky time
  22. >you still remember it like yesterday
  23. >Allie stepping ahead of you
  24. >yelling "come back, Allie!"
  25. >the bus horn and the screeching of the breaks
  26. >diving to push her out of the way
  27. >the sickening crunch as your kneecap was shattered
  28. >you shudder and try to think of other things, attaching the ball and socket joint on your prostetic leg
  29. >you get up, ready to face the day
  30.
  31. >your day goes by un-eventfully
  32. >you get some breakfeast
  33. >look in the job section of the newspaper
  34. >nothing appealing
  35. >head online
  36. >nothing local
  37. >head to lunch with your friend Katherine
  38. >feel the embarrasment of having her pay because you don't have the money
  39. >again
  40. >go home and watch some TV
  41. >browse facebook
  42. >just generally do not a whole lot
  43. >then you go to bed
  44. >for some odd reason, you keep your leg on
  45. >never tried sleeping with it on, and no one said not to
  46. >you fall asleep
  47.
  48. >what feels like moments later, you wake up
  49. >you're in the field again, but you immediately can tell this dream is different
  50. >you hear the birds chirping
  51. >you feel the wind blowing the grass
  52. >you take your first step carefully
  53. >and then another
  54. >now you're walking normal, no problem
  55. >you take a minute to evaluate your surroundings
  56. >a ways off, you see a dirt trail, and head for it
  57.
  58. >as you tread lightly, still apprehensive of falling, you see something blue in the sky
  59. >almost the same color as the sky
  60. >a bird maybe?
  61. >no, not a bird, much bigger than a large bird
  62. >as it gets closer, you stare in disbelief and confusion
  63. >it appeared to be a horse with wings
  64. >its mane was a multitude of colors, like a rainbow
  65. >you weren't sure what to do, but it was going to pass overhead any minute
  66. >you decided why the fuck not? and gave a shout and a wave
  67. >the horse (pony may be a better term, it was rather small) looked down
  68. >its eyes grew comically large, and as its attention was fixed on you, it smacked into a tree
  69. >you hurry over to wear it lay on the ground
  70. >not knowing if it would respond in any way, you say half to yourself and half to it
  71. Oh no, what've i done? Are you ok?
  72. >you say it the way you would to an animal that can't understand english
  73. >to your shock, unlike any animal you've ever met, it responds
  74. >"Yeah, i'm fine, just a few scratches"
  75. >you jump at her unexpected words
  76. >"woah, I'm the scared one here! Remember, I crashed into that tree?"
  77. >she smiles, and you awkwardly laugh, relaxing a little
  78. >she speaks up
  79. >"so if you don't mind me asking, uh, what are you? and what are you doing out here?"
  80. >what am I?
  81. Well, I'm Anon, and quite frankly i don't know what I'm doing out here. I just dreaming out here i guess
  82. >she looks at you oddly
  83. What?
  84. >"dreaming? I don't know what you Anons call dreaming, but this ain't it. This is real"
  85.
  86. >you decide not to argue with her when you see the gash on her leg
  87. >even if this was a dream, you might as well help her
  88. >you point to the blood on her leg and say
  89. Are you sure your ok?
  90. >"Oh! That is pretty bad. Listen, i have a friend who doesn't live far from here who takes care of animals. She can patch me up. Do you wanna come?
  91. >You agree and she says
  92. >shes really good with all sorts of wildlife, maybe she'll know more about Anons.
  93. >as you walk over with her, you explain that your name is Anon, and that your a human
  94. >you tell her what happened before you got here, and told her in general terms about earth
  95. >she found it hard to beleive, but didn't question your truthfullness
  96. >in return she told you where you were and about Equestria
  97. >a place with talking ponys
  98. >neat
  99. >it was easy to keep pace, her limping and you shuffling along
  100. >finally you reach a small cottage, and Rainbowdash (as her name was) raises a hoof to knock
  101. >after a minute, a yellow pony with wings answers the door
  102. >Rainbowdash explains the situation to the yellow pony, who she calls Fluttershy, and you two get introduced
  103. >she stands aside in the doorway and says
  104. >"come inside, Rainbowdash"
