Please, stop shoveling your APP

I have lately had to put my iPad down for browsing the web, and have reverted back to using my laptop for laying in bed or just normal consuming.

Now, it seems all these places are shooting themselves in the foot with all these apps. It has saturated the market so much that I cannot possibly manage them.

They are like big bookmarks that don't actually work properly because native mobile app development is quite simply not as easy as something like HTML5.

I also notice Google becoming more toxic with the way they show promoted listings, and I am quite simply not fond of paying them $1 for typing WSJ and seeing the #1 result is WSJ.com I have found that if you just add .com to the brand you want that is the easiest way to get to your destination. And this was how I used my iPad. Why the hell did they remove the .com button anyway? Do people not browse the web?

My question is, do you all really think I want to have 200 apps on my phone? Do you know how many companies I own products of that have apps? It's around 200, and was there a problem with me just typing in the name of the product w/ .com at the end?

I guess my point is, typing a URL is still the best way to do anything even on a mobile phone. Why can't more go in to developing the browser so that we can do away with apps?

If this was the 1990s and all these companies wanted to develop native windows "apps" wouldn't we think this is an absurdly complicated way to go about overcoming a problem that seems to be a trend to solve, but for what reason? I really think everyone needs to think about what is really going on with this trend, and if it is actually the future or if the web (as it was originally designed) is in fact, not broken.

I think that Apple wants to sell apps more than you should want to make them, and it's time to stop bombarding everyone with apps all together. Unless it is a game, I am never going to install the app for consuming, or even online shopping/casual browser. It is not a practical solution, it is backwards and I am disappointed in a lot of the backwards trends that "mobile mobile mobile" has brought the rest of the world.
