- At the Canterlot Wedding, Chrysalis wasn’t blown away from the city.
- Instead she was weakened and locked away in the castle’s dungeon.
- >Your shoes echo ominously as you traverse the deep corridors and halls of the infinitely deep dungeon.
- >It’s kind of unnerving, especially considering how the rest of Canterlot Castle is pretty easy on the eyes.
- >But down here, the air was as chilly as deep caves and torches were scarce, illuminating the long, winding paths imperfectly.
- >You pass cell after cell on your way, thick bars of solid metal keeping in any prisoners trapped.
- >Along with shackles hanging from the rear walls within their confined spaces.
- >All the cells are empty, though.
- >Except for one.
- >After a long trek through the gloomy dungeon, you eventually reach a specific cell.
- >Slightly larger than most others, it nonetheless only holds one prisoner.
- >A special prisoner, of course.
- >You take a seat on a simple wooden bench before the cell.
- >Within it a dark figure stares back at you.
- >It stands up on four legs and walks towards you.
- >Metal chains that attach her forelegs to the hind counterparts jingle.
- >Their limited length makes only walking is possible. Trotting would be clumsy, galloping just wouldn’t happen.
- >Strong bindings wrapped around the torso hold the insect-like wings against the body and keep them from granting flight.
- >An exotic gem strapped to the vicious-looking horn suppresses its magic properties.
- >Queen Chrysalis stops by the cell’s bars and looks at you.
- >”You’re back.”
- ”Yeah.”
- >One of her eyebrows moves up.
- >”I thought you were done with your interviews.”
- >The Princesses had initially tasked you with trying to find out whatever you could about Chrysalis’ (failed) plans and minions.
- ”You weren’t exactly providing any clear answers.”
- >Turns out she has a sly tongue and is excellent at saying things that don’t really say anything specific.
- >She smirks.
- >”Well, why would I? I’m already in your dungeon. I don’t see why I should have to grant you more than that.”
- ”It’s not really mine.”
- >”Doesn’t matter.”
- >She tugs at the chain linking her right foreleg with the right hindleg, with a bored look on her face.
- >”So… Why are you here this time?”
- >You shrug.
- >Getting to chat with a national enemy and highly magical creature seemed like an attractive idea.
- >The guardsponies outside let you enter without a word.
- >You suspect they still think you’re coming for the interviews, but you didn’t bother to ask.
- ”Care for a friendly chat?”
- >She gives you a confused look.
- >”Friendly chat?”
- >You just look at her.
- >She stares back.
- >Then she grins with obvious amusement.
- >Her teeth are pretty scary.
- >”A friendly chit-chat? Really? Well, I suppose this hollow places does get rather lonely after a while.”
- >One of her dark hooves lightly taps against one of her cell’s bars.
- >”So, what subject would you like to bring up? Battle-plans? Resources? Troop-management?”
- ”I’m NOT here to pry about your military anymore.”
- >”Uh-huh.”
- ”Seriously.”
- >”Says the princesses’ ape.”
- ”Not cool.”
- >”Sorry, must be a bit grumpy after being humiliated and imprisoned.”
- >You sigh.
- >She chuckles.
- >The sound is both pleasant and eerie.
- >”Well, you do still amuse me.”
- >Gee, how wonderful.
- >She’s a weird… mare?
- >Well, she was obviously female.
- >And MOSTLY pony-like.
- >Except for all the insect-like details.
- >And then some, honestly.
- >”You’re staring.”
- >You snap out of your study.
- ”Oh. Uh, sorry?”
- >She grins again.
- >”Don’t worry, I don’t mind.”
- >She walks along the bars, turning her side towards you while watching you.
- >”I’m not one of those prude mares I’m sure you’re used to.”
- >Now it’s your turn to raise an eyebrow.
- ”Not surprised. You’re basically a succubus.”
- >She stops.
- >She looks confused.
- >”A… what?”
- >Right. This is ponyland.
- ”Nevermind.”
- >For all it’s similarities to Earth and humanity, there are still differences.
- ”My point is, you’d just try to seduce me.”
- >The scary part is, she could have a chance at succeeding.
- >During your time in Equestria you had, against all expectations, become used to the idea of “getting it on” with pony mares.
- >Yeah.
- >Time and proper circumstances do wonders, apparently.
- >She snorts.
- >”Oh please. In this place, I’m not exactly in a position to do much in any way.”
- >She looks back, down at herself.
- >Well, she IS pretty well taken care of.
- >Her head turns back to you.
- >Her green predatory eyes give you an intense look.
- >”I’m completely helpless…”
- >Her voice travels the empty dungeon like a foreboding omen.
- ”… You do realize that you’re scary as hell when you say it like that, right?”
- >Her face immediately contorts into an offended expression.
- >”Well, you’re no fun.”
- >You can’t help but snicker at her reaction.
- >She begins waltzing around her cell while speaking rather loudly.
- >”Here I am, completely powerless, the Queen of changelings and glorious enemy to the “great” Equestria…”
- >Her head snaps back to you with a disappointed glare.
- >”… and you, all alone with no witnesses, don’t even think of laying a hoo- hand on me?”
- >She stomps back to the bars, coming as close as she can to you.
- >”A dull male indeed.”
- >You stare at her.
- >Both at her and her display, actually.
- >Then you…
- >You grin.
- >And you start laughing.
- >Is she serious?
- “You WANT me to… what? Fuck you?”
- >”Crass language. I prefer ‘mate’ or perhaps ‘rut’.”
- >She just smirks.
- ”Too bad. If you want to get laid, try some of the guards.”
- >”Oh please. They’re so stoic I doubt there’s any real activity happening in their brains.”
- ”Yeah, well, too bad. I’m not risking falling into any trap of yours.”
- >”I’m not going to be here forever, you know.”
- >You give her a sceptical look.
- “Oh really? Think they’ll pardon you, or are you talking about your execution?”
- >She gives you another of her scary grins.
- >”Neither, of course.”
- >Some of the conversation’s previous humour suddenly leaves you.
- >Her grin doesn’t go anywhere.
- >”Oh no~, did I let something important slip?”
- >One of her hooves goes to her mouth in a mockery of a shocked expression.
- >You frown.
- “You do realize, if I happen to pass this one to the princesses or some guards…”
- >She just gives you an unimpressed look.
- >”Then what? They would tighten the security? I haven’t told you any useful details, and a few more patrols wouldn’t change anything, ape.”
- ”I’m still not an ape.”
- >”You’re close enough.”
- ”You’ve been trying to seduce an ape, then.”
- >”I’ve had worse.”
- ”... What?”
- >She giggles at the expression on your face.
- >”I’m not picky.”
- >She winks with her emerald, slitted eye.
- >Not totally sure what to say to that statement.
- ”… Okay…”
- >Her tone suddenly turns more serious.
- >”I suppose it’s a strange concept to your kind, but we changelings take love where we can get it. We don’t have your restrictions.”
- >Well, that should’ve been pretty obvious.
- ”And I guess being able to change helps.”
- >”Sometimes, certainly.”
- ”I’m still not letting myself fall victim to any of your trickery, though.”
- >She rolls her eyes.
- >”I’m getting out of here one way or another. Might as well be the enjoyable one.”
- “You’re just trying to manipulate me.”
- >”So?”
- >You rub your forehead in exasperation.
- “It should be pretty obvious.”
- >She gives you an amused look.
- >It was often difficult to tell when she was seriously trying to deceive you and when she was just having fun.
- “You know what? I think I’ve spent enough time down here with you for now.”
- >You stand up from your seat.
- >”Aww, so soon?”
- >The look on her face is comically sad.
- >Yeah, she’s being sarcastic.
- ”Yeah. Sorry to disappoint and all that.”
- >”I’m sure. Oh well, I suppose a Queen’s presence can be a bit much for a mere ape.”
- >Christ, she never stops.
- ”You go ahead and think that, if you like. I’ll just leave you in this dark pit in the meantime.”
- >That actually seems to knock her teasing mood down a notch.
- >She gives you a mild but very perceivable glare.
- >You turn around and begin your march through the creepy corridors that lead outside.
- >The two of you have never exchanged formal goodbyes with any of your visits.
- >But then she sends a few oddly serious-sounding words after you.
- >”Do come back.”
- >You pause.
- >And then continue.
- >Sure, you’d come back another time.
