  3.
  4. Picture this. You're on your first day of a job, your employers think fine of you, suddenly, the money in your drawer has simply disappeared! Some faculty think it's you pulling a little trick, and you're hauled in for questioning and soon fired for really no reason. You cry foul, but it's thrown out. The true culprit? Lack of evidence.
  5. Do you have a big case you can't pinpoint the guilty party on, or just need a scapegoat for your bad day? Accuse someone of making your day awful! Chances are, you're doing it with lack of evidence.
  6. You're a prosecutor, and are trying to press a major case against someone for a big crime. The judge, at indictment, berates you and the arresting officers and tosses the case out. Why? Lack of evidence.
  7. False accusations are something we've done for a long time. It's human nature to look for something to blame your misfortunes on, even if there's no reason to do so.
  8. One early case of false accusation was Jesus of Nazareth, who according to documents may have been accused of sedition against the government with little evidence to support.
  9. A second reason to make a false accusation is, in the words of some, for fun. It's always fun until your tweet to American Airlines gets referred to the FBI, I recall someone saying, referencing something that a girl actually posted in early April.
  10. In the court of law, planting false evidence is a crime, and going in with a lack of evidence gets the case thrown out of court. A false accusation just gets you shunned. The second of those brings up another reason: impatience.
  11. People may want a quick answer, and turn to either a scapegoat or just something outlandish to why something happened.
  12. Yet another reason can be a sort of mob mentality, which may often fall after tragedy. For example, while Rolling Stone's placement of Tsarnaev on the cover was disgusting enough, people started accusing them of the oddest things with no proof.
  13. Speaking of, conspiracy theorists exist for this. Whether they accuse governments of holding back the cure for cancer to keep an economy of medicine or that the United States caused 9/11, the theories never die down. In fact, some accusations of Rolling Stone could qualify.
  14. While here, I may as well go over some theories, just in case any believers are out there. Paul McCartney is not dead, Elvis is, and for goodness sake, NEW COKE WAS JUST TO TRY SOMETHING NEW.
  15. Making overstated accusations can't just be blamed on 'being in the heat of the moment'. You can't overdo your limits, and if you didn't understand that sentence, don't overreact.
  16. Making statements with no evidence behind them, be it a joke or serious belief, is, simply put, a bad idea. It makes you look foolish, and can lead to even more troubles if it's actually taken seriously.
  17. It's been a pleasure writing for you guys this year. To our departing seniors, I wish you guys luck, and to those staying, I'll see you next year.
