Tesla Motors is on the verge of success but there are a few areas where the electric car maker may not be that successful. Elon Musk celebrated his 44th birthday yesterday, but his big day did not turn out to be that good for him as his private venture named Space X faced a major setback. Its rocket named Falcon 9 exploded a few moments after its launch; initial findings conclude that the rocket went to the international space station.

Both NASA and Tesla have not been able to find out the cause of the explosion and will reveal further details as soon as they investigate further. Mr. Musk tweeted that was not the best birthday for him due to the failure of his venture. Good news for Tesla is the positive outlook for investors as analyst have said that things are on the right track for the electric car maker. They feel that its value will go higher in the coming times and have raised their target price for the electric car maker too. This is indeed a positive point for Tesla as it has not been able to enter the corridor of profitability and does not seem to reach there till next five years.

Elon Musk thinks that if Tesla has to prosper in the coming times, then it must sell at least 500,000 cars annually. This seems to be quite far away as it was only able to dispatch approximately 10,000 vehicles in Q1FY15. Mr. Musk has admitted that his target of 500,000 vehicles annually would be achieved till 2020.

Tesla Motors has also considered diversification as an essential step to ensure that it prospers in the future; recently it has started manufacturing solar batteries which may help it in the long run as there is a diversion of consumers toward energy-friendly products. On a general note, there is no doubt that the company has a bright future ahead.
