  1. The Binding
  2.
  3. --- In the Northern Ithmia -----------
  4. The bright sun shines down, blanketing you with its
  5. life-giving warmth. The thick vegetation of the Ithmia
  6. showcases itself here: twisted briars stand in the
  7. shadows of gnarled and knotty trunks, the absence of
  8. songbirds adding to the pervasive gloom that permeates
  9. the ground. The thickness of the canopy forms a barrier
  10. between the natural light above and the filtered light
  11. of the forest below. Beyond the tree cover, a variety of
  12. disquieting noises and strange rustlings disturb the eerie
  13. silence. Casting a dark shadow upon the ground, a ritual
  14. blanket of abysmal hues rests here. A dyed gold poster
  15. bearing the title "Walk in Balance" has been rolled up here.
  16. You see a single exit leading northwest.
  17.
  18. Bluef kneels low to the ground and arranges a circle of
  19. branches so they are surrounding a ritual blanket.
  20.
  21. Bluef takes a cursed tablet from a medicine pouch.
  22.
  23. Brushing the surface of the tablet lightly with her
  24. claw tips, Bluef begins to chant in sombre whispers.
  25.
  26. Bluef sighs deeply, her brow furrowed in concentration.
  27.
  28. Carved upon the face of a triangular chunk of grey rock
  29. is a rendering of a monstrous spider, its venom-filled body
  30. dangling precariously from an intricately patterned web
  31. centred upon the tablet. An ancient language and runes
  32. inlaid with electrum glisten like water droplets upon the
  33. fine threads of the arachnid's silken design.
  34.
  35. Carefully running her claws over the surface of the cursed
  36. tablet, Bluef shudders violently as a silvery-gold radiance
  37. pours forth from its chiseled web and rushes up her arm,
  38. turning murky black as the tendrils advance.
  39.
  40. Bluef extends her arms out towards the circle of branches,
  41. letting the murky black of the curse table infuse their
  42. willowy forms with energy.
  43.
  44. Turning the cursed tablet over in her hands, softly
  45. whispered prayers fill Bluef's mind as she reads the
  46. alloy-filled glyphs covering the opposing surface.
  47.
  48. Bluef chants in a soft, growling voice, "For the harm you
  49. have wrought upon others."
  50.
  51. Bluef chants in a soft, growling voice, "May your fears
  52. and confusion be without end."
  53.
  54. Bluef etches a stick figure of a woman on the surface of
  55. the tablet with her claws, and then watches as its form
  56. is wreathed in murky darkness.
  57.
  58. Bluef chants in a soft, growling voice, "Even upon inclusion
  59. in the black, Inevitable Flame of Death."
  60.
  61. The stick figure fades into the cold stone of the tablet's
  62. surface as Bluef continues chanting.
  63.
  64. Bluef chants in a soft, growling voice, "Hear this petition
  65. Lord Thoth and grant her no safe passage through Your Halls."
  66.
  67. Bluef chants in a soft, growling voice, "Just as lead is held
  68. in no esteem and cold, let her lay ever-extinguished in Your
  69. sight."
  70.
  71. Bluef begins to wield a spool of cloth in her right hand.
  72.
  73. Bluef begins to bind the tablet with strips of muslin.
  74.
  75. Bluef whispers in a soft, growling voice, "Three is one.
  76. One is three."
  77.
  78. Bluef whispers in a soft, growling voice, "I bind you once.
  79. I bind you three."
  80.
  81. Continuing to wrap the muslin strips around the tablet until
  82. it is covered completely, Bluef continues her chanted prayer.
  83.
  84. Bluef whispers in a soft, growling voice, "Entangle spirit.
  85. Entangle body. Entangle soul."
  86.
  87. Shuddering visibly as the muslin turns the grey-black hue
  88. of Death, Bluef whispers, "When all three are hindered,
  89. there shall be no whole."
  90.
  91. Bluef lets the tablet fall to the ground. Turning to the
  92. North, she begins to sweep the branches away in a counter-
  93. clockwise motion with her besom to close the ritual space.
