  1. It doesn't take long after expressing interest in the subject that the cursed manikin, Mist, comes forward and volunteers to help formally document the weaknesses of Vampires. The following research ended up taking place in the Life Sanctum, the beautiful garden area devoted to life studies, white magic, monster study and other things.
  2.
  3. Mist is a bit nervous when it turns out a few more people than she expected turned up to observe the tests, and falters a bit when she notices Theta's excused himself, but she pushes on anyway, knowing she's the only one that can help. Without further adieu, the tests begin.
  4.
  5. HOLY SYMBOLS
  6. ------------
  7.
  8. Of all things to start with, this one was pretty interesting. Most religious iconography seems to be utterly harmless to her. Ammy on the other hand had the idea of showing her the symbols of 'Holy' Eidolons like Madeen, Alexander and Phoenix. Her reactions were as follows:
  9.
  10. Madeen: She actually seemed to become a little relaxed and comfortable, much more so than before.
  11. Alexander: Opposite of Madeen, discomfort. Not outright repelling, but she couldn't bring herself to touch the symbol when asked. The symbol could be touched to her without harm. Hanging it over a doorway seemed to bar her entry, but she could enter through a window, or throw something at the symbol to knock it down.
  12. Phoenix: Immediately on seeing the Pinion brought forward, Mist bared her fangs and cringed backwards, hissing in terror. She was embarassed by this immediately after, but the very presence of Phoenix's symbol scared her somewhat fierce.

  15. SUNLIGHT
  16. --------
  17.
  18. Kind of an obvious one that can't be tested without killing her. Thankfully, this is documented as working.
  19.
  20.
  21. FIRE
  22. ----
  23.
  24. Seems to elicit a fear response in Mist as well. She eventually managed to work up enough courage to burn her hand on a presented torch, and the wound was pretty grievous. She'll recover from it, with enough time and blood, though it was pretty painful. Holy energy is known to have a similar effect.
  25.
  26.
  27. RUNNING WATER
  28. -------------
  29.
  30. Easily debunked. Mist was able to fly over, ride over, and even wade through running water. However, she became somewhat lethargic when she attempted to fully immerse herself in water. She seemed to recover a moment after being pulled free.
  31.
  32. SILVER
  33. ------
  34.
  35. The classic bane of werewolves, but someone was curious, so a silver dagger was brought in. The weapon did not seem to do any additional damage, but when tried against her bat form, it seemed to suppress her shapeshifting.
  36.
  37.
  38. GARLIC
  39. ------
  40.
  41. She was uneasy around the bulb brought forward, but eventually pulled a clove off and ate it. Her face scrunched up rather hard - and her eyes seemed to go a bit bloodshot with her fangs becoming more visible. Seemed to cause something of a minor allergic reaction.
  42.
  43. INVITATION
  44. ----------
  45.
  46. She's a strong, independent vampire that don't need no invitation. As a point of curiosity, the crowd at one point moved to test this further by bringing Mist to a local church or two. It was discovered she could not tread on church ground that was still being used, but abandoned churches were fine.
  47.
  48. STAKE
  49. -----
  50.
  51. You guys already know this one. Paralyzation.
  52.
  53.
  54. COUNTING THINGS
  55. ---------------
  56.
  57. Seemed to only partially affect her. On a handful of scattered rice, she paused for just a moment as her eyes moved incredibly rapidly. Within a moment she had counted them all down to the last grain. Distracting, but not a true weakness.
  58.
  59. DECAPITATION
  60. ------------
  61.
  62. You already know that doing this after staking a vampire will kill them outright, but before? Someone brings this up and a bit of an ethics debate starts to happen, but Mist ended up calmly reaching for a nearby sword, grabbing her hair, and severing her own head. She seemed to be... absolutely fine apart from the loss of a bit of blood. Her head could still function perfectly, even speak, and she mentioned that after the pain it still felt like she was connected to her body - ie her body could still move and act independently. She placed her head back on her shoulders and the wounds actually knit surprisingly fast, probably an exception to the rule.
