[2011-09-08 18::10:41] Doink: It's a long journey from the Fragment Chamber up to HQ proper. Especially when your command crew has more pressing matters to worry about.
[2011-09-08 18::15:14] Doink: After returning your Evas to the hangar, picking your way around the puddles of orange goop which litter the floor, you rush to the Command bunker. Kazimir opts to stay in Unit 04, to make sure no stragglers manage to sabotage the Evangelions.
[2011-09-08 18::17:13] Mia_al-Misiri: is in a flap about the THING THAT HAPPENED, and is slow enough on the sprint anyway, so probably slow everybody down.
[2011-09-08 18::18:29] Doink: As you pass through the hallways, you spy another strange sight-- a group of black-suited soldiers, running hell-bent in the opposite direction you are.
[2011-09-08 18::19:04] Doink: The don't even seem to notice you're there. They're unarmed, anyways. Some of them are badly wounded, and are running anyways, leaving trails of blood dripping behind them.
[2011-09-08 18::20:01] Mia_al-Misiri: shouts back, at first turning and trying to run backwards, and failing entirely at that, just stopping, "YOU ARE BLEEDING!"
[2011-09-08 18::20:34] Henri_DEllaine: grabs mia by the wrist. "M'lady, please, we don't have time to stop for the enemy."
[2011-09-08 18::20:38] John_Kilanger: "No time Mia, just leave them!"
[2011-09-08 18::21:18] Doink: As you reach the bridge, you see where Mia pulled down the walls to protect it. It's quite obvious-- through the torn up walls, you can see the exterior blast walls of the Command Bunker and the shock absorbers holding it in place. The rubble around the door has been pulled aside with great force, leaving scraped markings on the metal floor.
[2011-09-08 18::21:31] Doink: Inside, you see an even stranger sight.
[2011-09-08 18::21:36] Mia_al-Misiri: is silenced and runs along with the group, probably being dragged a bit by Henri as she mumbles to herself.
[2011-09-08 18::22:46] Doink: Several black-armored soldiers are laying, seemingly catatonic, up against the close wall. Most of the command crew seems absent-- although, judging from the form of Lt. Jackson laying curled in the fetal position underneath his console nearby, you can assume where the others are at the moment.
[2011-09-08 18::23:02] Doink: Director Dmitiry Platonov is standing in the middle of the floor, completely devoid of clothing.
[2011-09-08 18::23:29] Mia_al-Misiri: Mia's cheeks inflate.
[2011-09-08 18::23:40] John_Kilanger: "Uh... Hello, Sir."
[2011-09-08 18::23:48] Doink: And Dr. Alfred Al-Misiri is standing over one of the fallen soldiers, studying him intently. He looks up as you approach. "Oh, you made it. Hello, kids."
[2011-09-08 18::24:02] Mia_al-Misiri: "Phhhhhbhahahahahahaha!" She points and laughs at naked pair, and looks up at Alfred. "They're naked!"
[2011-09-08 18::24:11] Dmitriy_Platonov: "I repeat, bring me some clothes right now! A labcoat will be fine for a moment."
[2011-09-08 18::24:43] Henri_DEllaine: looks around for a lab coat or a jacket or anything.
[2011-09-08 18::24:47] Doink: Dr. Al-Misiri: "I'm afraid you're the only one in any condition to follow orders at the moment."
[2011-09-08 18::25:24] Doink: The various catatonic crew members all have Nerv-issue jackets on, similar to the ones Dmitiry WAS wearing last time you saw him
[2011-09-08 18::26:12] Henri_DEllaine: stiffly removes a jacket from one of the bridgecrew, before handing it to Dmitriy. "Here, sir."
[2011-09-08 18::27:26] Dmitriy_Platonov: "Thanks a lot, Henri, Now I only need pants. Oh, I think that guy won't object... He doesn't seem to piss himself, good." - Dmitriy casually takes pants off one of the black-armored soldiers.
[2011-09-08 18::28:10] Mia_al-Misiri: looks around the whole room with wide eyes, going up to Albert and tugging a little on his coat.
[2011-09-08 18::28:23] Mia_al-Misiri: "What was the thing that happened?"
[2011-09-08 18::28:30] Doink: The pants have armor plates sown into them. But they're quite roomy.
[2011-09-08 18::28:34] Mia_al-Misiri: looks straight up at him, still with eyes wide.
[2011-09-08 18::29:16] Mia_al-Misiri: *Misiri goddamnit
[2011-09-08 18::29:46] Dmitriy_Platonov: "Well, now I can welcome you all back, pilots. And I'm really glad to see you all and to tell you that we have almost lost but then won."
[2011-09-08 18::29:50] Doink: The Doctor chuckles. "I suppose the secret's out, then. I'm proud of you for noticing, Mia."
[2011-09-08 18::30:34] Mia_al-Misiri: "Everything else is different apart from you." She stays looking up at him, clutching his lab coat tightly.
[2011-09-08 18::31:01] Henri_DEllaine: "What... what did happen here?"
[2011-09-08 18::31:18] Doink: Dr. Al-Misiri: "That's because I changed it. It's a slightly different... trick from yours, but the same general principle."
[2011-09-08 18::31:42] Mia_al-Misiri: "Oh." She accepts this easily. "How?"
[2011-09-08 18::32:53] Dmitriy_Platonov: "Well, that would be a long story, Henri. I don't even know where to start. Can anyone see Commander Carter around? I think he would be interested too."
[2011-09-08 18::34:29] Doink: Dr. Al-Misiri smiles. "That is a difficult question. I'll explain it to you when you can perceive enough dimensions to understand, alright?" He looks up at Dmitriy. "I'm afraid the Commander is... unavailable at the moment.
[2011-09-08 18::34:51] Doink:  He gestures towards the command chair, where the Commander is as catatonic as the rest.
[2011-09-08 18::35:48] Mia_al-Misiri: shuffles to the commander and tugs on the fabric of his shoulder.
[2011-09-08 18::36:13] Henri_DEllaine: 's eyes narrow at Al-Misiri suspiciously, but he walks over to the commander with Mia and tries to wake him.
[2011-09-08 18::36:18] Doink: His head lolls over. His eyes have rolled back in his head.
[2011-09-08 18::36:55] Doink: Dr. Al-Misiri: "Sorry. I didn't really want him seeing this. I hate having to mess with his head too much, it makes him unstable. Well, more unstable."
[2011-09-08 18::37:25] Mia_al-Misiri: tugs a bit harder, then gives his chair a gentle spin before turning back to the non-comatose people in the room, looking dejected.
[2011-09-08 18::37:40] Dmitriy_Platonov: "What a pity. I hope he'll get better. Well, then it's up to us. Pilots, I want to introduce you to the Dr. Al-Misiri's true identity..."
[2011-09-08 18::38:16] Henri_DEllaine: becomes... prickly to say the least and turns to face Al-Misiri.
[2011-09-08 18::38:40] Doink: The Doctor laughs. "True identity? But I've had so many!"
[2011-09-08 18::39:18] Henri_DEllaine: "Then how about what are you?"
[2011-09-08 18::39:52] Dmitriy_Platonov: "Well, I know that too well. However, beyong all of them you remain the same, Crawling Chaos. Pilots, Dr. Al-Misiri was an Avatar all along. However, he helped us in recent battle, and in fact, saved my life."
[2011-09-08 18::41:00] Doink: Dr. Al-Misiri gives an exaggerated bow. "Not /quite/ an avatar, though. Only in the same sense that, say, Mia is an avatar."
[2011-09-08 18::41:18] Mia_al-Misiri: "Really?!"
[2011-09-08 18::41:23] John_Kilanger: "Wait, so just haw many of these avatars are on our side?"
[2011-09-08 18::41:31] Mia_al-Misiri: Mia's eyes widen again. "How?!"
[2011-09-08 18::41:31] Doink: Dr. Al-Misiri: "I prefer something like.... Mask, myself. More fitting, metaphorically."
[2011-09-08 18::42:21] Doink: Dr. Al-Misiri smiles at Mia. "I always told you that I contributed almost half of the material that went to make you. I never specified that it was the human half."
[2011-09-08 18::43:02] Dmitriy_Platonov: "I thought it was taken from The Fragment."
[2011-09-08 18::43:36] Doink: Dr. Al-Misiri: "Some of it was. About a fifty-fifty mix."
[2011-09-08 18::44:01] Dmitriy_Platonov: "How about the human part?"
[2011-09-08 18::45:04] Doink: He waves a hand dismissively. "Just cloned genes from the Templates, like John over here. Unimportant."
[2011-09-08 18::46:05] Dmitriy_Platonov: "Well, at least there are some of them there. Okay, now to less important but really bugging me bit. Why did you save me in such a drastic manner, revealing yourself and killing Stanford?"
[2011-09-08 18::46:06] John_Kilanger: "Hey!"
[2011-09-08 18::46:39] Henri_DEllaine: "Let's cut to the chase. What are your intentions with us?"
[2011-09-08 18::47:16] Doink: Dr. Al-Misiri: "Because, at the moment, I need you all alive. Does that answer both of your questions?"
[2011-09-08 18::47:50] Dmitriy_Platonov: "Not the second one. Tools have purpose."
[2011-09-08 18::48:15] Doink: The Doctor smiles. "Tools also don't ask questions. But I'll humor you this time."
[2011-09-08 18::48:22] Mia_al-Misiri: goes back to standing next to and looking up at the doctor, and tugs on his coat again.
[2011-09-08 18::49:31] Doink: "...Yes, Mia?" Al-Misiri says, turning to her.
[2011-09-08 18::49:42] Mia_al-Misiri: "How am I an avatar?"
[2011-09-08 18::50:13] Mia_al-Misiri: asks earnestly, like she would ask how something mundane functions.
[2011-09-08 18::50:38] Doink: Dr. Al-Misiri crouches down to be at eye level with Mia. "...Well, you know how you have your AT field, right?"
[2011-09-08 18::51:06] Mia_al-Misiri: nods softly.
[2011-09-08 18::51:35] Dmitriy_Platonov: looks to the other pilots, meanwhile, showing them his sarcastic smile. He is a little bit lost here, not expecting the situation to turn out like that so drastically.
[2011-09-08 18::53:03] Doink: Dr. Al-Misiri: "That's because this body--" he pokes her on the shoulder-- "is your hiding place. You're not really this little piece of meat, you see. You're true form is something much bigger, more magnificent, that would normally lie outside this dream, like I do. This body is just an... extension of me inside this dream--this universe."
[2011-09-08 18::53:57] Doink: Dr. Al-Misiri: "But I hid you away inside this body, instead, so that you could grow to your full potential without my Master seeing you. Your AT field works because you're starting to get too big for this skin I gave you, and soon you won't fit inside it anymore at all. Do you understand?"
[2011-09-08 18::54:17] Mia_al-Misiri: "...Ohh. Yes. Where do I... when Azathoth's dream ends, can I bring people with me?"
[2011-09-08 18::54:28] Dmitriy_Platonov: shudders hearing this.
[2011-09-08 18::54:58] Doink: Dr. Al-Misiri smiles as large as you've ever seen him smile. "Yes, Mia. You will."
[2011-09-08 18::55:14] John_Kilanger: "Wiat, havn't we been fighting to prevent that?"
[2011-09-08 18::55:31] Doink: He straightens up, and turns. "I need you alive, because I need you to steal the universe for me. Does that answer your question?"
[2011-09-08 18::55:55] Mia_al-Misiri: pauses before turning her head to John, then looks back up at the doctor. "How do we do that?"
[2011-09-08 18::56:06] Henri_DEllaine: "Well, if you had any intention of leaving this world, you certainly could have done it already."
[2011-09-08 18::57:02] Doink: The 'Doctor' waves his hands. "One at a time, please," he says, chuckling.
[2011-09-08 18::58:01] Dmitriy_Platonov: just thinks. These things weren't in the books he have read, this goes beyond the most profound truths and ancient wisdoms! How does one steal a dream from the Great Dreamer?!
[2011-09-08 18::58:33] Doink: Dr. Al-Misiri: "You see, Mia, you are an interesting creature. Of course, every Outer God is unique, it's what makes us Outer Gods, but you combine several... particular qualities that I designed into you."
[2011-09-08 18::59:21] Doink: Dr. Al-Misiri: "...Let me come up with a metaphor your species can understand... think of one of your computers."
[2011-09-08 18::59:59] Doink: "Lets say, hypothetically, that Azathoth is a computer. This universe is like an operating system, and you all are like pieces of software running on it.
[2011-09-08 19::00:51] Doink: "But Mia isn't a piece of software. She's another computer. And when she spreads her AT field, she's transferring a little bit of the load of processing this universe over to her. Just a little area, running on her. Part of her dream, rather than my Master's."
[2011-09-08 19::02:13] Dmitriy_Platonov: "This is... inconceivable."
[2011-09-08 19::03:07] Henri_DEllaine: "And when Mia takes on the responsibility of this realm, what happens to her?"

[2011-09-08 19::04:44] Doink: He smiles at Dmitriy. "For you, yes. That's why I'm doing the planning here. This is in your best interests, believe me. You'd be getting a universe run by a being that, for a while, lived as one of you."
[2011-09-08 19::05:26] Doink: "A /waking/ dreamer. Not the blind idiot running the place right now." There is a faint tinge of hatred in the way he says "blind idiot," barely making it through the vieneer of plesantness he is currently exuding
[2011-09-08 19::05:58] Mia_al-Misiri: "I don't understand what universe you want to steal. Mine or Azathoth's?"
[2011-09-08 19::07:02] Doink: He turns back to Mia. "It is his now, and I want to /make/ it yours." He smiles. "Remember when I told you that soon you'd be able to do whatever you wanted? This is why!"
[2011-09-08 19::07:42] Mia_al-Misiri: "But everything else will still be here." She frowns sadly.
[2011-09-08 19::07:47] Dmitriy_Platonov: "Why do you want to rebel against your Master?"
[2011-09-08 19::09:11] Doink: The 'Doctor' turns to Dmitriy. He still smiles, but it's no longer a friendly sort of smile.
[2011-09-08 19::09:32] Doink: "I want you to imagine something," he says levelly.
[2011-09-08 19::11:08] Doink: "Imagine, if you will, being a limitless being. It's difficult for you, I know, but just bear with me. A limitless being bound to a concept that is in itself limitless. Endless, formless chaos. Existing before the first thing ever had substance, and after the last existent ceases to be."
[2011-09-08 19::12:13] Doink: "And yet... some blind, deaf, dumb, totally useless being /binds/ this being into the service of a thing that is its /exact opposite/. Entrusts it with preserving the very kinds of things that are its antithesis."
[2011-09-08 19::12:36] Doink: "How do you think that being would feel about its 'Master'?"
[2011-09-08 19::13:51] Henri_DEllaine: "So you're bound here, and having Mia usurp the throne would free you?"
[2011-09-08 19::16:01] Doink: He nods. "Someone is quick on the uptake, finally. If Mia takes this universe, then I will no longer be bound to him, and I can devour him without any consequences." He smiles. "That won't do anything, mind you. Eating him. I just think it would be supremely satisfying."
[2011-09-08 19::16:15] Doink: "But I can't strike him myself. Thats where you all come in."
[2011-09-08 19::16:50] Dmitriy_Platonov: "Can we really fight a being which contains all our universe in its dream?"
[2011-09-08 19::17:53] John_Kilanger: "Haven't we been fighting to PREVENT that thing from waking up?"
[2011-09-08 19::18:42] Doink: "No. Thats why you take it away from him first. Trust me, I've been working on this longer than your world has existed. I know what I'm doing. And you're not going to wake it up," he says, turning to John. "Once Mia is the dreamer, that won't even be a problem anymore."
[2011-09-08 19::19:23] Henri_DEllaine: "Having Mia take over would be solve the problem: who cares if he wakes up when he's not the one dreaming. What I'm more concerned with is what you, Doctor, are going to do afterwards. How exactly are we supposed to trust you?"
[2011-09-08 19::19:37] Mia_al-Misiri: "If I am another computer..." She pauses for a moment to think. "...Can't everyone just change computers?"
[2011-09-08 19::20:58] Doink: The 'Doctor' smiles broadly. "Oh, trusting me would be a /huge/ mistake. But I don't need you to trust me. Just to do what I tell you to."
[2011-09-08 19::21:26] Doink: He opens his mouth to answer Mia, but is interrupted by the sound of alarms going off around the Command Bunker.
[2011-09-08 19::21:54] Dmitriy_Platonov: "What is this?! I though we killed almost all of them!"
[2011-09-08 19::22:24] Doink: Displays flash up around you. "EMERGENCY," they say. "NTH PHASE RESPONSE DETECTED WITHIN 100M OF FRAGMENT CONTAINMENT FIELD."
[2011-09-08 19::23:58] Doink: Dr. Al-Misiri sighs. "...So this is why things went wrong, is it?"
[2011-09-08 19::24:19] Dmitriy_Platonov: "Can you explain what is this?"
[2011-09-08 19::24:27] Doink: He turns away, towards an empty space of floor, and says, "Hastur."
[2011-09-08 19::24:30] Doink: Nothing happens.
[2011-09-08 19::24:37] Doink: He says it again, a little louder. "Hastur?"
[2011-09-08 19::24:42] Doink: Still nothing
[2011-09-08 19::24:52] Doink: FInally, he shouts, sounding rather angry. "HASTUR!"
[2011-09-08 19::25:07] Mia_al-Misiri: "She comes if you just say Jeanne."
[2011-09-08 19::25:28] Doink: There is a small *cracking* sound. Jeanne Yvain appears, kneeling in the middle of the floor. She's wearing her plug suit, and LCL still drips from her hair.
[2011-09-08 19::25:31] Doink: The alarms silence.
[2011-09-08 19::26:03] Mia_al-Misiri: "I told you!"
[2011-09-08 19::26:07] Doink: Al-Misiri sighs. "Look, I get your whole gimmick thing," he says sternly, "but don't make ME do it, alright?"
[2011-09-08 19::26:08] Mia_al-Misiri: hops excitedly.
[2011-09-08 19::26:36] Henri_DEllaine: smiles in relief.
[2011-09-08 19::26:42] Dmitriy_Platonov: can't even cringe anymore. "Hello, miss Yvain."
[2011-09-08 19::26:53] Doink: Jeanne is silent. She stairs at the floor, somewhere around Al-Misiri's feet.
[2011-09-08 19::28:38] Mia_al-Misiri: "Hi Jeanne!"
[2011-09-08 19::28:44] Doink: "Now," says Al-Misiri, his voice level. "I /believe/ that your instructions were to keep those 'sorcerers' busy, while keeping them under control." He gestures to the catatonic soldiers around the room. "Does this look like under control to you?"
[2011-09-08 19::29:35] Doink: "And then I find you trying to go for the Fragment yourself? As if I wouldn't notice?" He shakes his head. "What do you have to say for yourself, hmmm?"
[2011-09-08 19::30:08] Doink: Jeanne doesn't look up. After a moment, she opens her mouth to speak. "...Master, I--"
[2011-09-08 19::30:39] Doink: "I didn't ask to talk to /you/, girl," Al-Misiri answers, interrupting her. I asked to talk to /Hastur/."
[2011-09-08 19::31:08] Doink: Jeanne looks down again. She grimaces.
[2011-09-08 19::31:57] Doink: Then, suddenly, her head jerks backwards. Her eyes are filled with golden shafts of light shining up towards the ceiling. Her lips move, and a cacophonous torrent of sound emerges, like thousands and thousands of voices speaking in unison in a multitiude of tongues.
[2011-09-08 19::32:15] Doink: It goes on for a moment, and then stops.
[2011-09-08 19::32:59] Doink: Al-Misiri studies her for a second, as the light fades. Jeanne's eyes dim, and she pants, as if she just did something very exhausting.
[2011-09-08 19::33:25] Doink: Al-Misiri turns away, sighing.
[2011-09-08 19::34:03] Doink: Then Jeanne's body hurtles through the air towards the back wall of the bunker. It hits the armor plating with a sickening crack. Jeanne screams.
[2011-09-08 19::34:41] Doink: "...Get out," Al-Misiri says, simply. "I don't even want to /sense/ your presence anymore."
[2011-09-08 19::34:43] Henri_DEllaine: "No, Jeanne!" Henri rushes to her, making sure she's ok.
[2011-09-08 19::35:21] Doink: Her body crumples back to the floor. She's still breathing, barely, but you can tell by looking at her that plenty of things are broken.
[2011-09-08 19::35:36] Doink: She vanishes as Henri reaches her.
[2011-09-08 19::35:53] Henri_DEllaine: grasps at empty air.
[2011-09-08 19::35:59] Doink: Al-Misiri shakes his head, looking over at Henri. "You know, I was proud of you for awhile, but I'm starting to think that you're a bad influence..."
[2011-09-08 19::36:26] Dmitriy_Platonov: simply watches this painful scene, taking notes in his mind.
[2011-09-08 19::37:26] Henri_DEllaine: "Fuck off," He turns towards Al-Misiri angrilly. "We've killed the likes of you before. I sincerely hope you don't expect us to try at some point."
[2011-09-08 19::38:39] Dmitriy_Platonov: begins to grin, very subtly. His pilots are a good team, and Henri is the best.
[2011-09-08 19::38:43] Doink: Al-Misiri laughs. "No, no, no. You misunderstand. You've killed the likes of /her/ before. I'm afraid I'm a little out of your league, 'monster hunter'."
[2011-09-08 19::39:07] Dmitriy_Platonov: "You expect us to take on Azathoth, though."
[2011-09-08 19::40:26] Henri_DEllaine: "I think I've lost the need for things like 'leagues' and 'logic' Doctor."
[2011-09-08 19::40:37] Doink: Al-Misiri: "My Master is deaf, dumb, and blind. I am none of those things, Dmitriy." He stretches. "Anyways, I'm afraid I have to cut out for a little while. This situation has gotten /so/ much more complicated, and if you want something done right..." he shakes his head.
[2011-09-08 19::41:18] Dmitriy_Platonov: "Can we just as whay is the situation now? I have the whole NERV to run, so I need to be aware of details."
[2011-09-08 19::41:30] Dmitriy_Platonov: *ask what
[2011-09-08 19::42:14] Doink: Al-Misiri: "Well, one of my staunchest Priests just tried to betray me, for one. At the moment, though, just keep doing what you've been doing. We can't have one of those idiots ending the universe before we can steal it, right?"
[2011-09-08 19::43:15] Doink: Al-Misiri: "I'm leaving you in charge. I'm afraid the Commander just isn't the same when I'm not around." He turns to leave. "Oh, and in case you're thinking along the lines of Miss Yvain... There's a bit of a time limit on this plan."
[2011-09-08 19::43:49] Dmitriy_Platonov: "Time limit?"
[2011-09-08 19::44:39] Doink: Al-Misiri turns his head towards Mia. "Your body won't last forever under the strain of your existence. Remember how we had to switch bodies before? That's going to happen more and more often until you get too big for it altogether. If that body ever breaks... Without me to help you consume the fragment, you'd collapse under your own weight, and probably wake my Master up in the process. Which would be bad for everyone."
[2011-09-08 19::45:07] Doink: "And I'm the only one who knows how to make you a new body. So be good, alright?"
[2011-09-08 19::45:08] Dmitriy_Platonov: "Grrrrrrrrreat."
[2011-09-08 19::45:08] Mia_al-Misiri: "But I would still be here, like you said. In my own computer."
[2011-09-08 19::45:32] Doink: "Oh, you'd probable be alright. But everyone else in the universe would die."
[2011-09-08 19::46:04] Mia_al-Misiri: "Why couldn't I bring them with me?"

[2011-09-08 19::48:11] Henri_DEllaine: "I think what she's asking, is if Azathoth can dream, why can't she dream on her own. In parallel even?"
[2011-09-08 19::48:23] Mia_al-Misiri: points at Henri. "Henri feels funny though. Maybe he could?"
[2011-09-08 19::49:06] Doink: He shakes his head. "Even Hastur is a part of this universe. Even if you dreamed a new dream, they can't ever cross over. They'd work on totally different rules."
[2011-09-08 19::50:04] Mia_al-Misiri: frowns, almost defiantly. "That's not fair."
[2011-09-08 19::50:09] Henri_DEllaine: "And you expect us to believe that Mia can just take over this dream, then?"
[2011-09-08 19::51:51] Doink: Al-Misiri sighs. "Henri, I don't care in the slightest what you believe. And I think I've already been gracious enough to answer what I have. Especially in your case."
