- "Once upon a time, there was a fps game called Team Fortress 2. It was a very different game, as it revolved around HATS. There were different qualities of hats, which are genuine, vintage, uncraftable, and unusual. Genuines were the most disliked and hated hat quality, due to it being green. cuz fuck green. Therefore, people began to trade for genuines less and less, hence #FallOfTheGenuines2012. Every genuine fell in price, because of tf2outpost lowballers buying genuines at less then what everyone else did. Everybody followed these undefeated opponents. Then, a strange new website known as backpack.tf emerged. with it came the power to influence the market through lowering and heightening prices through reflected market prices. Pricing websites like these cause a panic and inflation in the market, such as keys rising due to others believing keys will skyrocket, and vintages slow selling, because of the constant drop on backpack.tf. When backpack.tf discovered genuines, they saw an opportunity to "update" it, causing others to panic and sell for extremely low prices, which resulted in another suggestion, and the vicious circle continues. But then, out of NOWHERE, the STRANGIFIER update came out! With it came strangifiers that made the hat that you wore STRANGE. Obviously, people want this because of the mass hype of something new coming out. But, there was a very unique strangifier. for the Merc's Pride Scarf. Because strangifiers could make any quality hat strange, there was a hype for strange genuine, strange vintage, and strange uncraftable as well as strange unusual miscs. This resulted in a lack of supply for the Genuine Merc's Pride Scarf, and buyers wanted to have strange genuines. therefore, they pooled items into buying it, resulting in sellers asking more, and buyers paying more. This also resulted in a larger lack of genuine merc's pride scarfs, and therefore, backpack.tf has decided to bump the price up. This is the first suggestion to make a genuine item rise in price in a VERY long time.
