  1. Roland of Billead - Last Tuesday at 3:43 PM
  2. Let’s start in the Down and Out; it’s been a particularly busy night, and there’s an especially rambunctious group of folks in the front right corner of the tavern. A dwarf tells dirty stories to a human, a half-orc, a tiefling, and another dwarf. He’d finish one story, and all of his compatriots would roar with laughter
  3. Psionide - Last Tuesday at 3:48 PM
  4. Almark chuckles from behind the disk and gets ready for the inevitable next round that follows that kind of laughter.
  5. Roland of Billead - Last Tuesday at 3:49 PM
  6. True to your instinct, the dwarf waves his hand and politely calls for another round. He turns and says something else to his buddies, and they nearly fall out of their chairs with mirth
  7. Psionide - Last Tuesday at 3:59 PM
  8. One of them actually does, but Almark is right there to stop it as he puts the tray on the table.
  9. Roland of Billead - Last Tuesday at 4:16 PM
  10. He is grateful, and continues his merrymaking. As the hours drag on, and the tavern empties out, you are invited to join their festivities
  11. Psionide - Last Tuesday at 4:49 PM
  12. How much is left of my shift?
  13. Roland of Billead - Last Tuesday at 4:50 PM
  14. Probably about 20 minutes. It’s getting late
  15. Psionide - Last Tuesday at 4:52 PM
  16. In that case, I grab a pint and sit down with them.
  17. Roland of Billead - Last Tuesday at 5:03 PM
  18. The conversation is trivial, but enjoyable, and eventually, when the tavern is otherwise completely empty, the dwarf dismisses his companions, leaving the two of you alone. “I’ve heard tell of your exploits.” He says, eyes gleaming
  19. Psionide - Last Tuesday at 5:07 PM
  20. You take a sip. Plenty of people have by now. Doesn't mean you feel like going into deep detail about them with just about anyone.
  21. "If you want to hear all about it, look for Volare. Half elf, musician. Loud voice. Can't miss him."
  22. "He tends to show up whenever he gets thrown out from some other place."
  23. "Usually happens around this time, but I guess his fame is keeping him in the bartender's good grace."

  25. Psionide - Yesterday at 7:21 AM
  26. (I'm waiting)
  27. Roland of Billead - Yesterday at 3:39 PM
  28. “Maybe, maybe not. He got a special visit from a very important person, so that may have rattled him a bit.”
  29. Psionide - Yesterday at 3:41 PM
  30. "Hits default state is rattled."
  31. Roland of Billead - Yesterday at 3:42 PM
  32. “So I’m told, but he at least has enough gumption to be useful every now and again.”
  33. Psionide - Yesterday at 3:49 PM
  34. "You'd know?"
  35. Roland of Billead - Yesterday at 3:52 PM
  36. “Yes, I would. He hides like a coward when the fur starts flying but at least his heart’s mostly in the right place.”
  37. Psionide - Yesterday at 3:55 PM
  38. "Hah. Tell me something I don't know."(edited)

  40. Psionide - Today at 8:29 AM
  41. (pingaling)
  42. Roland of Billead - Today at 1:35 PM
  43. “The fight isn’t over yet. Your bout with those fellows at the palace drew a lot of eyes towards you, both fair and foul.”
  44. Psionide - Today at 1:36 PM
  45. "It was rhetorical." You take another sip.
  46. "Wait, what did you just say?"
  47. Roland of Billead - Today at 1:38 PM
  48. “You’ve got a lot on your plate! That’s what I’m saying!” He bellows jovially. “You’ve taken up a fight and you never realized it!”
  49. Psionide - Today at 1:40 PM
  50. Almark feels like this shift has turned his brain to mush. "...who are you exactly? Do I know you?"
  51. Roland of Billead - Today at 1:42 PM
  52. “7,000 years ago, I took up a fight m’self, in the name of our Father. It was a bitter affair, a war that lasted a century, but at its conclusion, I became one of Pateron’s chosen. I am Sigismund, the Stalwart.”
  53. Psionide - Today at 1:47 PM
  54. "No offense, but I find that hard to believe." The connotation doesn't doubt the existence of the saint, but rather that this dwarf is said saint.
  55. Roland of Billead - Today at 1:47 PM
  56. “None taken at all. Still, it’s good to share a drink with a fellow kinsman, regardless of your belief in my tale.”
  57. Psionide - Today at 1:51 PM
  58. "Now that I can drink to."
  59. If the other dwarf doesn't speak for a couple of minutes, Almark asks: "What drove you out?" From one dwarf to another, this question can only really refer to one subject. Dwarves are attached to their homes and their families.
  60. Roland of Billead - Today at 1:56 PM
  61. “The war, and being chosen by our Father, of course. I left on a 100 year campaign and never really came back, or, if I did, I did so seldom-my memory’s not quite what it used to be at the ripe old age of 7,200 years old.” He bellows with laughter, then finishes his drink in a long series of gulps, then heartily puts his tankard on the table and says, “Kind sir! May I have another? And with it, may I hear your story?”
  62. Psionide - Today at 2:03 PM
  63. You pull up another pair. "Not much to it. No heroism, no grand adventures. I did the wrong thing for the right reason. Got expelled and exiled after a lot of community work hours." You drink more from your tankard. "Deserved it too."
  64. Roland of Billead - Today at 2:05 PM
  65. “To be exiled from one’s fatherland is a harsh punishment. To leave and never come back.” He looks into the foam of his drink, pensive, before taking a draft of it. Then he says, “You’ll see your homeland again. I know not why you’ve been expelled, but if you remain steadfast in your duties, you may find they’ll welcome you with open arms.”
  66. Psionide - Today at 2:22 PM
  67. "I sincerely doubt that, but thanks."
  68. Roland of Billead - Today at 2:39 PM
  69. "You are most welcome. Skeptical as you are, perhaps a bit of foreknowledge will allow you to lift that heavy veneer of doubt that clouds your mind." He takes another swig of his ale before continuing: "Your tiefling friend will likely confide in you a visit from a Saint of her own goddess, Defera. Her request will be to head north, into traditionally human lands, where the core of the encroaching madness currently makes its base. I would kindly request you follow her. As for your doubt regarding your acceptance back into your homeland... All grudges will be settled, and all debts repaid many times over."
  70. Psionide - Today at 2:42 PM
  71. You consider it for a moment, and then you speak. "I won't do it for you, or the gods you claim to represent. They've done shit for me."(edited)
  72. Roland of Billead - Today at 2:58 PM
  73. “As you wish. Still, by killing Mordred and wounding his benefactor, you and your allies have attracted the attention of greater powers.” ((Really? How many times do I have to see that response to a divine missive before someone just says “yup, ok, goin’ on a crusade now my dude”))
  74. Psionide - Today at 3:00 PM
  75. "I suspected something like that might happen."
  76. ((Almark holds a grudge against the gods - they didn't help him when he needed it. Thought of it recently, haven't had the chance to write it down yet.))
  77. Roland of Billead - Today at 3:03 PM
  78. ((Like it’s pervasive amongst all the characters I’ve ever DM’d. No one can ever just have faith in something.)) “The fellow that half-elf stabbed in the eye... well, I suspect he’d have the greatest of laughs about his identity before” he uses a phrase here in dwarvish that directly translates to “filling his pants”.
  79. Psionide - Today at 3:05 PM
  80. You chuckle at this - it feels like it has been too long since you heard some proper obscenities.
  81. Roland of Billead - Today at 4:24 PM
  82. “In any case, you are very likely to end up heading North, regardless of what I tell you to do, so I shall simply leave such commands tabled; I suspect you respond to such mandates poorly-many adventurers do-and the choice remains yours.”
  83. Psionide - Today at 4:25 PM
  84. "I wouldn't consider myself an adventurer."
  85. "But yes, I probably am going north."
  86. Roland of Billead - Today at 4:26 PM
  87. “Excellent news! One more round to celebrate your impending journey?”
  88. Psionide - Today at 4:27 PM
  89. "One more round. Then you're out of here because my shift is over and I want to sleep."
  90. Roland of Billead - Today at 4:27 PM
  91. “As you say.”
