Bret and Shawn started the match by just staring each other down, each man daring the other to even blink. This went on until Shawn spit in Bret's face, and got a punch in the face in return. They brawled to the outside, threw each other into the barricades, used the apron and the ringposts. Shawn even tried to apply a Figure 4 on the ringpost, but Bret crotched him before dragging him into the ring and slapping on the Sharpshooter. As Shawn agonized in the hold, Bret called for the mic, and a ref quickly obliged.
"DO YOU QUIT?" Shawn was still fighting against the hold, grasping for the ropes, and as soon as he got a firm grasp, he responded.
"HELL NO!"
As Shawn kept clinging to the ropes,Bret refused to break the hold. It took Shawn climbing halfway out of the ring and dragging a cane from under the apron for Bret to release the hold. But he went right back to the legs, stomping Shawn down even as the Heartbreak Kid riddled him with cane shots to the head and shoulders. Bret kept on laying in until Triple H ran in, and dragged him off HBK! HHH and Bret brawled out of the ring, fighting back and forth around commentary until Bret was able to hit a stunning German Suplex right through the announce table! Bret staggered to his feet, but as soon as he got up, CLANG! Shawn Michaels rocked him with a chairshot and laid him out! Heartbreak wasted no time setting up a table and forcing the still groggy Bret onto it before climbing to the top rope and hitting a diving elbow through the table! Shawn began to drag Bret up the ramp, but Bret was able to mount a comeback once he got back to his senses, and before long Shawn and Bret started brawling up the ramp, whacking each other into the barricades and coming dangerously close to disconnecting some pretty crucial cables. Eventually, Bret hit a German suplex into the production crates, and Shawn slumped to the ground. With Shawn on the ground, Bret started setting up the Sharpshooter. He lifted and crossed the legs, and turned around RIGHT INTO A CHAIRSHOT FROM AUSTIN! Austin and HBK put Bret's right leg in the chair, and got the mic.

"HEY BRET, QUIT OR AUSTIN BREAKS YOUR LEG WITH THAT CHAIR! DO YOU QUIT?"
Bret considered it for a few seconds, staring down with Shawn
"No! I'm not quitting!"
"YOU HEAR HIM, STONE COLD! BREAK THAT LEG!"
Austin was about to stomp on Bret's leg when Chris Jericho stopped him!
"WHAT THE FUCK? HEARTBREAK, I THOUGHT YOU SAID THIS LIL SUMBITCH WAS COOL WITH YOU!"
"He is! He is! Aren't you, Chris?" With that, HBK held a chair out to Jericho. Jericho looked at HBK, then at Bret, then at Austin, then at the chair around Bret's leg.
"Go on, Chris. Do it!"
Jericho took a deep breath, lifted the chair, AND SLAMMED IT INTO BRET'S LEG! Bret screamed in agony.
"DO IT AGAIN, YOU LITTLE SUMBITCH!"
Jericho laid in again.
"AGAIN!"
Jericho laid in again.
"NOW DO YOU QUIT, YOU CANADIAN MOTHERFUCKER?"
"NO!"
"GET HIM TO THE RING! I WANT TO MAKE HIM QUIT RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THAT DAMN RING!"
Jericho and Austin picked Bret up, Jericho lifting his shoulders, and Austin lifting his legs, torquing the right one just to watch Bret squirm. They dumped Bret in the ring, and HBK applied the Figure 4. Austin held the mic to Bret's mouth, and asked again.
"DO YOU QUIT?"
[b]"N-N-N-YES! I QUIT! I QUIT, YOU SON OF A BITCH!" Shawn wins.[/b]

As Bret clutched his leg, the Power Trip gloated as the crowd jeered.
