  1. I'm currently in a work placement at the moment where I work that has allowed me to become close friends with people who work for companies like Nintendo and recently one of these friends who worked at Nintendo lost his job for a undisclosed reason, so because of which, he has recently given me some information from what he was working on before he got fired.
  2.
  3. Next Nintendo Direct:
  4. >The next ND takes place on April 8th, and is focused entirely on Splatoon. They'll be releasing it like the MK8 Direct, where they just upload it straight to YT instead of streaming it.
  5. >Splatoon releases 22nd of May in the UK/JP, one week later on the 29th in the US. The UK will get a special edition on the Online Store where you get the game, a steelbook with one of the squids on each side, a poster and a statue around the same size as the Skull Kid statue, featuring the two middle Inklings in pic related with the blue one being a bit more elevated then he is on the picture. It'll cost £30/$40 for the standard and £60 for the special edition.
  6. >The first thing that gets discussed is the story, where the world of Splatoon runs off the energy of a “Battery Catfish,” and it’ll be up to you to retrieve it from the Octopus Corps, who have stolen it for nefarious reasons.
  7. >They'll show off some different weapons, including the last one which is a rapid shooter that is shaped like a Blooper from the Mario series.
  8. >The shops in the plaza get shown off a little bit, some new clothing gets shown with some jackets and tights being present and they announce that free DLC is gonna be added regularly ala Animal Crossing that adds a new item of clothing per DLC and that some of them are themed on other Nintendo IP's, like Mario's hat or Link's tunic.
  9. >They then go on to talk about Amiibo. Splatoon is getting a series of Amiibo, with Wave 1 including 6 different Inklings with different colors dressed in different clothing and different poses. They act like the Smash Bros Amiibo, as they're teachable AI that learns new tactics by going up against you.
  10. >Splatoon is also getting a 2-Player offline mode, where one player uses the Gamepad and the other uses the TV.
  11. >There's a tease at the end of the presentation that we could see some Splatoon DLC in Smash, as a short clip plays where it's basically that Villager clip from the first Smash 4 trailer, but with one of the Inklings in the plaza finding a letter on the ground, reading it and then they run off. The letter falls to the floor and the seal is of the Smash Bros logo and then it just fades out, ending the Direct.
  12.
  13. This isn't all that he told me. Nintendo is around half-way through their E3 plans at the moment, and he got to work on some stuff for that as well. I'll post the info about E3 in my next post, and then I'll stick around in the thread to try to answer questions.
  14.
  15. E3:
  16. >Nintendo is doing the same thing as they did last year, with a Digital Event being shown and then the Treehouse will be streaming throughout E3. They're doing this again because of the amount of positive feedback they received last year. One thing I was told as well was that the card that /v/ made for the Treehouse staff has actually been framed and is still hanging up in the Treehouse.
  17. >They've signed on the Robot Chicken guys to make a announcement video to announce their E3 plans, but they're not making skits again in the Digital Event for in betweens.
  18. >One cool little thing they're having in the Nintendo booth is a little contest where if you beat 5 insanely hard levels in 20 minutes that were made with Mario Maker by the Treehouse crew themselves, you'll win a copy of the game when it releases and a $50 eShop card on the show floor.
