it has been over a century since the Shi'Berud family was first brought aboard the crew of the NTSS Gloria Verdantes, a capital-class vessel owned by Nanotrassen. Aboard the Gloria Verdandes, a young Tajaran kit named husniya had been brought in with 'volunteer' assistants to work amongst the human crew. As she was far too young to be put to work immediately, Husniya would have instead been put inside the large crew berthing for education.

While most of her peers resented the young tajaran, even bullying her outright,  Husniya worked diligently at every assignment she had been given. Her innate curiousity and knack for math led the younger Shi'Berud to gain the attentions of crew assigned to care for and teach the children born aboard the capital ship. Her name had been passed around quite often, and talks were held of the tajaran who showed abnormal intelligence for her kind. After several years aboard the Gloria Verdantes, Husniya had completed her youth education, and was subsequently brought before a tribunal of senior research staff.

The Senior staff members spoke amongst themselves for many long minutes, while the tajaran looked on nervously. After the discussion was completed, one Director of Neuroscience; Doctor Zhang Heng, stood from his chair at the conference, and approached Husniya with an offer. "You will become my apprentice. For every waking hour, you shall assist me during my experiements, while learning everything you can of neuroscience. I shall teach you how to code the great machines, and how to speak with the many AI's that run our vessel." Husniya accepted this offer without any further thought, as it was her best chance at continuing her work on the ship.

So Husniya found herself a decent job aboard the Gloria Verdantes. As the research assistant for Doctor Zhang Heng, the now twenty year old Husniya found many opportunities for learning. She had stayed with the man for a period of eleven years, until she had to leave his service after becoming pregnant. A year later, Husniya gave birth to a litter of eight kits. Unfortunately for Husniya however, her pregnancy was not without complications. Once the kits were birthed, she had been brought near to death from trauma. Doctor Zhang would not willingly lose his favorite pupil, so he had her mind extracted and placed within suspension inside of an AI core, built by none other than Husniya herself.

Only three of the original Shi'berud children survived until adulthood, thanks to the rigors of growing up in low gravity environment. Farida, Hamid, and Malak Shi'berud survived the first twenty years since their mother became an AI aboard the Gloria Verdantes.

Of the three children of Shi'berud, only Farida had displayed the same level of intelligence as her mother. The young Tajaran kit displayed great curiousity during her early lessons on the Gloria Verdantes, but also appeared to have a special skill with mathematics. Farida was able to 'see' math and numbers in all things around her, which led to her following the path of a physicist. Like her own mother, Farida was taken in before the senior science staff of the Gloria Verdantes. The council convened, looking over Farida's interests and obsessions, as they would with any other child that displays a knack for science. On this occasion, the Director of Physics stood and accepted the daughter of Shi'berud as his own apprentice.
