  1. [2014-05-21 14:22:51] <Kkat> 3Previously, there were about three dozen zebra gargoyles surrounding the house. Now, there seems to be about two dozen -- groups of three or four trying to bash their way through the walls. The last dozen must already be inside, having entered through one of several holes torn into the manor.
  2. [2014-05-21 14:23:12] <Kkat> 3Get_Lost looks at the house "so... do we have a plan?"
  3. [2014-05-21 14:23:31] <Kkat> 3Get_Lost notes, "If they're already inside, things will get a lot more difficult"
  4. [2014-05-21 14:23:39] <Kkat> 3Bookwright flies alongside Get_Lost. "Golden Dream and I are going to try and draw them out."
  5. [2014-05-21 14:23:54] <Kkat> 3Noble_Heart frowns and takes to the air, preparing to rain destruction upon her foes.
  6. [2014-05-21 14:24:18] <Kkat> 3Mare-Do-Well looks to Get_Lost. "Oh..." >>whoosh<< the ghost is gon... >>whoosh<< "Yeah, they're inside."
  7. [2014-05-21 14:24:33] <Kkat> 3Bookwright calls out, "Golden Dream, you may fire when ready. Copycat, can you please bring the firewagon overhead, please?
  8. [2014-05-21 14:25:05] <Kkat> 3Get_Lost shrugs, "okay, I guess we will sit on the roof and wait then... did anypony bring cards?"
  9. [2014-05-21 14:25:22] <Kkat> 3Bookwright blinks, "Er, nevermind. That can wait for later."
  10. [2014-05-21 14:25:28] <Kkat> 3Golden_Dream raises an eyebrow. "What's with th' military talk?" She asked, starting to lay down some explosives. "Hey, come 'n get 'em, Stripes!" She felt uncomfortable saying that, and it showed.
  11. [2014-05-21 14:25:37] <Kkat> 3Mare-Do-Well smiles at Get_Lost. "Hey. Nice wings! They look good on y..." the ghostly words are drowned out in the first of the grenade explosions! The gargoyles turn, letting out rasping noises that sound like grindstones.
  12. [2014-05-21 14:25:43] <Kkat> 3Noble_Heart keeps watch. Prepared to unleash magic! She paused briefly in the air and considered that. "... we really need a proper term for what it means to unleash magical destruction upon your foes..." SHe frowned slightly at the lack of appropriate phrases.
  13. [2014-05-21 14:25:51] <Kkat> 3Bookwright rolls his eyes and drops to just a meter above a gargoyle in the group that Golden_Dream just blasted, bringing the sonic weapon to bear on it and unleashing a shriek of sound
  14. [2014-05-21 14:25:57] <Kkat> 3Golden_Dream helpfully adds. "Th' term is 'Zot'!"
  15. [2014-05-21 14:26:03] <Kkat> 3Bookwright keeps firing, and after two more shots the first gargoyle he's selected crumbles into gravel.
  16. [2014-05-21 14:26:10] <Kkat> 3The zebra gargoyles fall under the explosive and sonic onslaught.
  17. [2014-05-21 14:26:18] <Kkat> 3The scream of the sonic weapon draws more gargoyles from inside the manor. At each of the three holes torn into the walls of the house, stone zebras appear, letting out that grindstone scream.
  18. [2014-05-21 14:26:24] <Kkat> 3The moment the gargoyles lumber outside, Mare-Do-Well turns to Get_Lost and Golden_Dream. "ReadySetGo!"

  21. [2014-05-21 14:31:42] * Fridge flies with all the strength the tiny neurotic, grumpy, mildly melancholic filly can muster in that direction through the chimney!
  22. [2014-05-21 14:33:15] * CopyCat calls down ineffectually. "Please be careful!"
  23. [2014-05-21 14:33:56] * Bookwright hovers over the heads of the gargoyles and smiles stupidly at them.
  24. [2014-05-21 14:34:50] * Get_Lost hesitates and takes a look around, doesn't seem to be willing to go in the house that easily
  25. [2014-05-21 14:37:21] * CopyCat mouth fumbles. "Ah! Shatara! Go help them! Use your bird magic!"
  26. [2014-05-21 14:37:47] * Bookwright sure hopes that Noble_Heart can provide some firepower soon, else he's going to run out of ammo.
  27. [2014-05-21 14:40:32] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The chimney is large, surprisingly accommodating for a small flying filly. But then, should that really be a surprise, considering the clue?
  28. [2014-05-21 14:40:43] * Get_Lost is still not going down the chimney, seems scared
  29. [2014-05-21 14:41:16] * Golden_Dream looks around for crazy door. Or crazy stone ponies. One of the two.
  30. [2014-05-21 14:41:16] * Get_Lost holds her breath and tries jumping in
  31. [2014-05-21 14:50:17] * Golden_Dream attempts to catch Get_Lost on her way down. "Alright, alright. Show me th' door!"
  32. [2014-05-21 14:51:44] * Get_Lost "okay, give me a moment" taps on her visor a couple times and it changes to a deep purple color, then moves down the house guiding the filly to the place
  33. [2014-05-21 14:54:08] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Get_Lost and Golden_Dream find themselves in the huge, walk-in fireplace in the den. Peeking out, they see the heads of wild animals mounted on the walls. (Five hydra heads are mounted above the huge fireplace itself.) Books still line several shelves, and there is a zebra-designed antique rifle mounted on one wall above a ornate globe.
  34. [2014-05-21 14:54:35] <Mare-Do-Well> 3One zebra-shaped statue stands in the middle of the room, looking lost.
  35. [2014-05-21 14:55:10] * Get_Lost steps back, trying not to get noticed
  36. [2014-05-21 14:55:28] * Golden_Dream grabs that other rifle, and then proceeds to explode that statue with that grenade rifle. "Four." She said, counting off her ammo.
  37. [2014-05-21 15:04:32] * Golden_Dream 's ears ring. She accepted the fact that she'd have some really bad tinnitus growing up.
  38. [2014-05-21 15:18:06] <Get_Lost> 7me is half burned and jells "woah! it burns it burns!"
  39. [2014-05-21 15:18:40] * Get_Lost junps on the spot, trying to set off the fire on the tip of her tail
  40. [2014-05-21 15:30:07] * Golden_Dream jumps. Shit, these things explode bigger than she saw from above!
  41. [2014-05-21 15:30:36] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The zebra gargoyle does not notice the two ponies... that is, until the explosion rocks it on its hooves. Turning, it looks at the blackened, torn wall that the explosion came from, a large serpent head trophy burning above a shredded bookcase and smoking table. Then turns and looks at the fireplace.
  42. [2014-05-21 15:30:41] * Get_Lost extingushes the fire on her tail and asks "did... did you take it out?"
  43. [2014-05-21 15:31:55] * Golden_Dream gives a grim frown. "Nope."
  44. [2014-05-21 15:36:58] * Golden_Dream grabs Get_Lost. "We're leavin'!"
  45. [2014-05-21 15:37:39] * Get_Lost was going to ask for mercy, but run for your life looks like a good option. follows the filly
  46. [2014-05-21 15:43:36] * Noble_Heart circles the area outside the building, watching the gargoyles, waiting for them to make a move so she had a clear target.
  47. [2014-05-21 15:48:08] * Golden_Dream looks back. "Get_Lost, Where is it?"
  48. [2014-05-21 15:49:39] * Get_Lost "the room? this way!" points the direction
  49. [2014-05-21 15:50:39] * Golden_Dream goes in that direction!
  50. [2014-05-21 15:51:33] * CopyCat bites her lip. "There are still so many of them. Can we really vanquish them all?"
  51. [2014-05-21 15:54:54] * Get_Lost is not a first line pony! hates explosions! is in the hooves of a filly who probably got her vutiemark a month ago! what could ever go wrong? "EVERUTHING!" the mare screams in panic and runs behind kid
  52. [2014-05-21 16:00:24] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Get_Lost follows Golden_Dream as they race past the gargoyle. It roars, the sound of stone grinding against stone. And the roar is echoed around and ahead of them as the other gargoyles inside respond. Get_Lost takes the lead, jumping onto the bannister to race past the two gargoyles on the stairs, narrowly avoiding the swing of a heavy, stone hoof...
  53. [2014-05-21 16:02:39] <Mare-Do-Well> 3... Golden_Dream takes to the air, soaring above the gargoyle in the hallway, distracting it while Get_Lost skirts around it, knocking a picture off the wall as she brushes by. The gargoyled zebra gives chase, the ones on the stairs charging up heavily behind it. Another appears in the doorway to the master bedroom at the end of the hall...
  54. [2014-05-21 16:03:26] * Get_Lost "this way, this way! the room is protected, we should be safe inside it!"
  55. [2014-05-21 16:03:43] <Mare-Do-Well> 3...They reach the door and Golden_Dream almost flies past it, but Get_Lost snatches her by the tail and hauls both of them inside. Mare-Do-Well is floating inside the room, looking anxious as they enter, and Golden_Dream quickly slams the door behind them.
  56. [2014-05-21 16:05:56] * Golden_Dream looks around the room. "Oh. Fun." She looks around. She feels... Weird here.
  57. [2014-05-21 16:06:52] * Get_Lost "alright, let's get what we have to take and fly away..." puts an ear agsainst the door and listens
  58. [2014-05-21 16:07:16] * CopyCat blinks all of a sudden and looks around in confusion. She gazes down at the gargoyles and then turns to Noble_Heart. "Are we waiting for something? Shouldn't we just leave?"
  59. [2014-05-21 16:07:58] * Noble_Heart frowns. "We are waiting for our friends to return." She turns her attention on the nearest gargoyle, spraying a blast of arcane magic in an attempt to reduce it to rubble.
  60. [2014-05-21 16:08:49] * CopyCat shrugs. "But Bookwright is already here."
  61. [2014-05-21 16:09:41] * Bookwright flits over to CopyCat. "Yes, but we're also waiting for Golden Dream and Get Lost to come back out of the shielded room."
  62. [2014-05-21 16:11:03] * CopyCat stares at Bookwright blinkly for a full second before her eyes sparkle with realization. "Oh? Oh! Right."
  63. [2014-05-21 16:12:46] * Bookwright isn't completely sure that CopyCat is okay.
  64. [2014-05-21 16:14:52] <Mare-Do-Well> 3he room seems... shadowed? But not really any moreso than the rest of the house. Colder, maybe? The walls are covered with very faded wallpaper that was once a deep blue with patterns of flowering ivy. The trim along the floor and ceiling is carved with flowers and hearts. Tattered gauze encircles the goth four-poster bed.
  65. [2014-05-21 16:15:06] <Mare-Do-Well> 3A dust-covered dresser and an even dustier mirror sit in one corner. There are scattered items on the dresser: photograph in a frame, a jewelry box, a mane-and-tail brush. The room doesn't look like the house's last occupants bothered to pack anything from it when they left.
  66. [2014-05-21 16:16:02] * Mare-Do-Well 3starts searching the room, sticking her head through the bed, into the dresser... "Dark in there."
  67. [2014-05-21 16:16:11] * Get_Lost since it is unlikely that they'll ever get back and the house is probably on fire from the previous grenade, the mare takes the brush for herself
  68. [2014-05-21 16:16:49] * Golden_Dream checks the jewelry box.... And takes the mane-and-tail brush for comfort.
  69. [2014-05-21 16:22:13] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Get_Lost finds herself distracted by the photo on the dresser. It is an old, black-and-white photo of two mares standing in front of this manor. One looks like a younger Rainbow Dash, maybe Kid's age. The other... is eerily hard to make out. The photograph has faded unevenly, the image of the mare in the flower dress is almost gone.
  70. [2014-05-21 16:23:31] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Golden_Dream finds a pretty necklace in the jewelry box. It's one of those friendship necklaces with half of a coin.
  71. [2014-05-21 16:24:09] * Golden_Dream takes the necklace. "... Rainbow Dash, was this yer room?"
  72. [2014-05-21 16:24:26] * Get_Lost "hey rainbow, who's the mare in the photo here?
  73. [2014-05-21 16:25:08] * Mare-Do-Well 3blinks, pulling her head out of the dresser. "No. I've never been here before." She looks at the photo. "That's... Daring Do. Wow, she looks young!"
  74. [2014-05-21 16:25:53] * Get_Lost smiles and loks brhind the pic to see if there's something written behind it
  75. [2014-05-21 16:27:10] * Golden_Dream takes the necklace. It's a friendship necklace? "Hey, Rainbow. Check this out. This look familiar?"
  76. [2014-05-21 16:27:14] <Mare-Do-Well> 3On the back of the picture is scrawled the message: DD & AK, friends forever.
  77. [2014-05-21 16:28:37] * Mare-Do-Well 3looks at the necklace. "Okay...?" Then shakes her head. "I've seen necklaces like that before. They all kinda look the same to me though."
  78. [2014-05-21 16:29:13] * Get_Lost mutters "A.K.... i wonder who se was...
  79. [2014-05-21 16:29:51] * Mare-Do-Well 3the suggests, "Hey, there was a space between the bottom drawer and the floor, but its too dark to see." She then turns to Get_Lost, "Well, I know one A.K.... but that was Daring Do."
  80. [2014-05-21 16:30:56] * Golden_Dream churns that through her mind. "No, that was her author." She shows her the friendship necklace.
  81. [2014-05-21 16:31:50] * Golden_Dream puts it away. "This here's a friendship necklace. It wouldn't make much sense t' have both halves, would it?"
  82. [2014-05-21 16:32:03] * Bookwright taps his front hooves together nervously as he hovers and waits for the return of the others. "So, CopyCat. Noble Heart. Um. Read any good books lately?"
  83. [2014-05-21 16:32:48] * Noble_Heart frowns slightly at that. "Not in a great many years."
  84. [2014-05-21 16:33:07] * CopyCat shakes her head. "Not that I remember."
  85. [2014-05-21 16:33:27] * Get_Lost "so, uhm... are we done? do you yhink the others cleared the way out?
  86. [2014-05-21 16:33:53] * Golden_Dream shakes her head. "Nope. We're, uh. Prolly gonna have t' make a break fer it again."
  87. [2014-05-21 16:35:24] * Bookwright "Oooh! Oooh! What was it, Noble Heart?"
  88. [2014-05-21 16:35:55] * Noble_Heart sighs quietly and shakes her head. "I do not remember the details. Much of that time is... Difficult to recall."
  89. [2014-05-21 16:37:24] * Bookwright falters, and looks downcast. "O-oh. Okay..."
  90. [2014-05-21 16:40:16] * Mare-Do-Well 3flies to the wall and sticks her head through. "There's... a lot of them out there. Good news is, they don't seem to be able to find the room."
  91. [2014-05-21 16:41:04] * Mare-Do-Well 3points a hoof again at the dresser.
  92. [2014-05-21 16:41:29] <Mare-Do-Well> 3"Did you check that space?"
  93. [2014-05-21 16:42:30] * Golden_Dream checks the dresser.
  94. [2014-05-21 16:42:45] * Get_Lost uses kid to check the dresser
  95. [2014-05-21 16:43:43] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The bottom drawer is slightly reluctant to be pulled completely free of the dresser. But once done, Golden_Dream can see something wrapped in cloth hidden between that drawer and the floor of the room.
  96. [2014-05-21 16:44:14] * Golden_Dream checks that cloth. Hmm. What's inside?
  97. [2014-05-21 16:47:22] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Unwrapping it, she finds a tan safari-style explorer's hat (with green wrappings and a black band), a hallowed-out animal horn (with a leather strap and a cork stopper), and a note (slightly crumpled, reading "oOnly the remorseful one shall find the key") inside.

  101. [2014-05-21 16:51:14] * Mare-Do-Well 3stares. "Okay, that's Daring Do's hat. I'd know it anywhere. But what's with the horn? And that notes sounds like a clue from a Daring Do story."
  102. [2014-05-21 16:54:16] * Get_Lost frowns "a remorseful pony is a pony that goes back where she did something bad... maybe?" thinks more "or a pony that says sorry?
  103. [2014-05-21 16:54:37] * Mare-Do-Well 3thinks and nods. "Sounds right."
  104. [2014-05-21 16:55:44] * Golden_Dream looks at it. And thinks. "... There a chapel around? A church? A graveyard?"
  105. [2014-05-21 16:55:56] * Get_Lost "me bookie rreads a lot, maybe he has some more clue...
  106. [2014-05-21 16:56:42] * Get_Lost "i'd like to think about this with the others, you know, while we are airborne...
  107. [2014-05-21 16:57:03] * Golden_Dream shakes her head. "Whatever." She removes her hat and dons Daring Do's, then takes the gunpowder horn. "Let's get back t' th' others."
  108. [2014-05-21 16:58:07] * Get_Lost "sure. how do we get outside alive?"
  109. [2014-05-21 16:59:25] * CopyCat looks down at the house again. "There sure are a looot of those statues inside with Golden Lost and Get Kid..."
  110. [2014-05-21 17:01:34] * Bookwright nods. "Let's get to making noise, see if we can draw them all back out. Noble Heart, pick a group and I'll sonic it."
  111. [2014-05-21 17:02:58] * Mare-Do-Well 3nods again. Then sticks her head out through the boarded-up window and tries to shout, "Hey! Bookworm!"
  112. [2014-05-21 17:03:34] * Bookwright gives Mare-Do-Well a look one would normally find in a folder labeled "Scathing".
  113. [2014-05-21 17:05:12] * Mare-Do-Well 3feigns obliviousness. "Hey, do your magic wall thing right here! We need a new exit." She pauses. "Well, they do. Me not so much, but I'd hate to lose my new friends to statuary."
  114. [2014-05-21 17:06:50] * Bookwright nods, and flies up to the wall Mare-Do-Well is, well, sticking out of. "Alright. Here it comes!"
  115. [2014-05-21 17:06:50] * Noble_Heart smiles. "Noise? Oh, We can do noise!" She clears her throat and descends towards the ground. Her horn glows briefly and when she speaks again her voice thunders across the village. "HOHO! LITTLE GARGOYLES ARE MENACING MY FRIENDS! WHY DO YOU NOT COME AND PLAY WITH ME INSTEAD!? I AM SO BORED AND LONELY!"
  116. [2014-05-21 17:08:19] * CopyCat flies down to one of the holes in the wall farthest from the gargoyles and shakes her plot at those inside. "Hey silly stoney zebras, come and get it!"
  117. [2014-05-21 17:08:47] * Bookwright points his pointy headspike at the wall and it starts to glow, faintly.
  118. [2014-05-21 17:09:46] * Golden_Dream attempts to fly out from the wall, holding onto her new pith helm with a hoof!
  119. [2014-05-21 17:10:41] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The gargoyles rawr at Noble_Heart and CopyCat.
  120. [2014-05-21 17:10:55] * CopyCat wiggles plot.
  121. [2014-05-21 17:11:07] * Get_Lost follows kid as fast as possible
  122. [2014-05-21 17:13:53] * Golden_Dream , if she gets out, would hug Bookie. She would hug him, and then kiss him on the cheek. "You have no idea how much of a bad situation we was in."
  123. [2014-05-21 17:14:36] * Bookwright is flying, right there, on the other side of the wall he just made insubstantial. Ready for that kiss.
  124. [2014-05-21 17:15:11] * CopyCat looks up suddenly as Golden_Dream and Get_Lost quickly exit the room. "Oh, /those/ friends!." She looks through the hole at the gargoyles heading towards her and quickly takes to the air.
  125. [2014-05-21 17:17:50] * Golden_Dream then gives Bookie the note. "Do you have any idea if this place has a chapel?"
  126. [2014-05-21 17:18:39] * Bookwright raises an eyebrow. "Erm... No. It's a zebra town, I don't think they'd make that kind of thing."
  127. [2014-05-21 17:19:34] * Golden_Dream raises an eyebrow. "How's about a graveyard?"
  128. [2014-05-21 17:19:55] * Get_Lost is still thinking "remorseful ponies, remorseful ponies... they return stolen things, go back on their steps... admit mistakes..... argh, thrre are too many options!"
  129. [2014-05-21 17:20:19] * Bookwright reads the note. 'Only the remorseful one shall find the key'. Well, that's cryptic. Cryptic... like a graveyard. Golden, I think you might be on to something!"

  131. [2014-05-21 17:21:03] * Get_Lost nods "a graveeyard coul work...."
  132. [2014-05-21 17:26:23] * Noble_Heart takes to the air once her friends were safely away from the gargoyles. She frowned and looked around the settlement.
  133. [2014-05-21 17:27:07] * Get_Lost for a graveyard i'd have used mournfull, though
  134. [2014-05-21 17:27:28] * Bookwright is totally ready for that kiss. Anytime, Golden_Dream.
  135. [2014-05-21 17:27:57] * Mare-Do-Well 3sighs. "Probably need more clues. Always need more clues."
  136. [2014-05-21 17:29:08] * Golden_Dream rolls her eyes. "Nice Appoloosan shootin', Bookie." She kisses Bookie on the cheek. "Hey, let's get some distance. She flies up to get a good look at things. The pith helm seemed right on her head for some reason.
  137. [2014-05-21 17:30:02] * Mare-Do-Well 3wavs a hoof. "Of course, she was making everything vague. Couldn't risk being too specific in case her reports fell into enemy hooves."
  138. [2014-05-21 17:30:11] * Bookwright blushes a little. "Right. We have a few more hours on these flying spells before they run out. We can cover more ground from the air."
  139. [2014-05-21 17:31:31] * Mare-Do-Well 3nods. "Covering ground! Not a problem. Which way?"
  140. [2014-05-21 17:32:09] * Mare-Do-Well 3pauses. "Not that I'd be able to help with that much. You're the one with the books."
  141. [2014-05-21 17:32:10] * Golden_Dream still feels pretty awesome now that she can fly. "Up. We need t' see if they got a graveyard or a shrine or somethin'."
  142. [2014-05-21 17:32:19] * Get_Lost decides to sit i the wagon instead. magical wings are classy but risky. science is so much better
  143. [2014-05-21 17:32:59] * Mare-Do-Well 3swoops next to Golden_Dream. "Taking to the air like a pro!"
  144. [2014-05-21 17:33:13] * Get_Lost opens her bags and goes back to her project for the science fair!
  145. [2014-05-21 17:33:26] * Golden_Dream kicks her legs. "I know! Flyin' is so cool!"
  146. [2014-05-21 17:33:40] * Golden_Dream almost never squees. She just squeed.
  147. [2014-05-21 17:33:49] * Get_Lost mutters something about dexter not winning this time
  148. [2014-05-21 17:37:07] * Bookwright loop-de-loopos
  149. [2014-05-21 17:38:12] * Golden_Dream does a frontflip in the air, tucking her emerald-orange wings against wind resistance.
  150. [2014-05-21 17:40:51] * Get_Lost "uhm.... can i borrow a pipbuck for a moment? i need to copy a couple archives..."
  151. [2014-05-21 17:41:58] * Bookwright hovers. "Um. Anywhere, really. These spells will last another three hours, easily."
  152. [2014-05-21 17:42:50] * Mare-Do-Well 3is totally grinning behind her mask. You can tell.
  153. [2014-05-21 17:43:38] * Mare-Do-Well 3offers Bookwright and Golden_Dream hoof-bumps. Then flies down to offer Get_Lost one too.
  154. [2014-05-21 17:45:07] * Golden_Dream phantom hoofbumps Mare-Do-Well, then takes to the air to see the town from the air. Is there a graveyard to be seen?"
  155. [2014-05-21 17:45:07] * Bookwright hoof bumps Mare-Do-Well, but she's too insubstantial for a proper bump.
  156. [2014-05-21 17:45:19] * CopyCat flies a little ways behind Golden_Dream, trying her own arial acrobatics. Her efforts are clumsy, like this was the first time she'd tried to do something like this, but the enthusiasm on her face was unmistakable.

  158. [2014-05-21 17:46:28] * Golden_Dream gives Copycat an aerial cuddle before getting back up. An animal horn hung from her neck.
  159. [2014-05-21 17:48:17] * Get_Lost pokes her head from the wagon "hey kid! care if i borrow your pipbuck a minute?"
  160. [2014-05-21 17:49:42] * Golden_Dream dove down to meet Get_Lost. She felt stupid. "Yeah, sure. Here you go!" She gives the scientist a little hug and lets her look at her pipbuck.
  161. [2014-05-21 17:51:11] * Get_Lost takes the instruments and detaches the pipbuck "thank you have fun don't be late bai...." kisses the filly on a cheek and goes back to work
  162. [2014-05-21 17:51:52] * Golden_Dream peers over Get's shoulder while she works for a bit.
  163. [2014-05-21 17:54:57] * Get_Lost is giving the finishing touches tp what looks like a silvery frisbee
  164. [2014-05-21 17:56:01] * Get_Lost not larger than a vinyl record, as thick as a hoof in the middle
