people are theorising VR sex will replace actual sex due to being more easily accessible, etc etc, but I'm starting to think it will actually be a failure in all the ways people think it will be a success, and it's all because of the uncanny valley.

I'll explain. At one end, there's abstract sex (watching porn/using your imagination). And at the other end, actual sex. VR sex will occupy the middle, and feel wrong if even the slightest thing is off- regardless of where the simulation lands on the "classic" uncanny valley slider.

I'm proposing the existence of a "sexual uncanny valley" that hasn't been properly discovered yet, which exists ALONGSIDE the classic uncanny valley.
