  1. dip in your beautiful feet into the pond that is right here, okay?
  2.
  3. --PART 1: BIRTH/MORNING SUN/LATENCY--
  4. This mix starts of with some wall-to-wall power pop-rock from Japan. This primo track will melt your eardrums and fill your being to the brink of happiness. Just relax in some beautiful green grass and think about how great this day is going to be. After that we keep the energy high and the music poppy, but introduce shades of confusion and ennui with with a track of Schnaak's "Wake up Colossus", an album very reminiscent of the bay area experimental metal group Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. The sun is still out, so it can't be all bad, but still, now you've been reminded that true happiness is fleeting.

  6. --PART 2: REBELLION/LUNCH ON A PARKING STRUCTURE/ADOLESCENCE--
  7. Now that we have realized that our couch is stained and smelly, we stop lounging about the grass and try to find grime in white concrete of modern midwestern urban america. The sun is shining and school is out, so we have bring the pain with a truly heart wrenching cover of the blues standard, Ball 'n' chain by Half Japanese. Next, the heat of the day drives us into the basement, and the building listlessness and disqualification of the day gets turned to righteous anger at the patriarch with a lo-fi teenage grievance from The Beatles 2.

  9. --PART 3: REMOVAL OF THE UMBILICAL CORD DEUX/TAKING THE BUS TO THE MODERN GENTRIFIED WONDERLAND/YOUNG ADULTHOOD--
  10. But lets be honest, basement bound parental hatred is the domain of the pacific northwest. The best way to disempower authority figure is to accept them, flaws and all. With that in mind, we turn to the oasis of the hip found in so many of the nations biggest cities. College graduates stream into decaying neighborhoods to establish bases of counterculture, and that is where we find our next song, a beautiful mish-mash of polyphony and loops from the wonderful Natalie Grace Alford, straight from the Chicago DIY scene. Once you've been properly indoctrinated into the world of a jobless twenty-something, you realize that the best time is right at home, because true art is devoid of context. Trying to fill the empty summer hours becomes a chore when you never leave your parents living room, but it all pays off when you stumble upon the classic tale of monarchical exploitation from youtube sensation, Ratboy Genius. Haunting vocals, intricate composition, and a childlike story that defines the work of Ratboy Genius are very clear on this track, which should get you ready for the final part of our story..

  12. --PART 4: PARENTHOOD/DINNER WITH THE REAL FRIENDS/MIDDLE ADULTHOOD--
  13. Isolating yourself from those hip fucks was the best choice you could have made. Sure they taught you how to think, but they never did it anyway. Anyway, you have a much better time cooking curry with your queer-theory reading group and talking about the history of underground pop music. Some of your best friends are straight, but they won't mind you if you indulge with a little bit of queercore. To that end, the penultimate track takes us back to anti-authoritarian vibe of PART 2, while still keeping in mind that you can be angry at the man, and still be happy with yourself. Slurps up, a Chicago garage rock twopeice, that's all about smiles, good food, and rampant queerness. Finally, we finish up with a track that ties the entire day together. This so called "folk" cover of hit indie webcomic has it all. It's a throwback to the viral videos of the mid 2000's, the TV that your parents would watch, and the copious amounts of LSD we took in college. It's strange, but the calming acoustic guitar tucks us into bed, and wraps up the entire day.
