  1. You know what that man said was true Glave. his ancestor spoke to him within his mind.
  2.
  3. 'Yeah. . . I just can't stop thinking about it. . . If so, I wonder what he meant by saying that secrets are everywhere. . .' he replied with a thought back to his ancestor
  4.
  5. In due time you will understand. Henir replied.
  6.
  7. "Yeah. . . . if you say so." Glave said outloud.
  8.
  9. Lost in his thoughts, the young teen made his way back to Nostvale. But yet again, he really didn't feel like walking back into the cities walls. The entire thing was just a mess for him and he didn't feel like dealing with the huge crowds, the nosy commotion. Bumping into people left and right and possibly ending up in jail since his dues for his inn stays are overdue.
  10.
  11. He was probably ten thousand crowns and debt by now. But hey! It just happens when the Inn keeper offers room service. You just get carried away.
  12.
  13. So Glave just went on with his walk. Continuing pass Nostvale's great walls and moving forward. The only problem that he was having was that he had to look at the world in a new perspective. Or that's what he thought so. It had to be right?
  14.
  15. But just then, oblivous to reality. Glave took one step forward and ended up falling into a lake. Water clouding up his vision as he quickly hit the bottom in a crouch.
  16.
  17. Intaking water into his lungs to the sudden occurance. Glave pushed his feet against the bottom of the lake. Shooting himself outwards and up to the surface.
  18.
  19. "Pwaaahh!" he exclaimed as he spat out the lake-warm water from his lungs as he frantically waved his arms about to keep himself afloat. Breating quickly to the sudden scare.
  20.
  21. But with the moments to come. Glave found out that the lake was actually just a small pond, and he was quite the perfect height to stand just tall enough where he nose reached above the water but his mouth being submerged, but over all. He was fine.
  22.
  23. 'Just great. . . ' he mummered in his thoughts.
  24.
  25. Ooh! If only I had a cam-recorder to film that. . . His ancestor started to say, but quickly Glave screamed out at him in his thoughts. Causing Henir to burst out with hysterics.
  26.
  27. "Hmph . . " he mummbled as he turned around in the pond. Quickly reaching out towards the shore to pull himself up from the water and bring himself to a stand.
  28.
  29. There he patted off his clothes and conjured up an aura made purely of energy. Best way to self dry his clothes, or so he thought as he reached above his head to pull off a lily pad.
  30.
  31. "Man. . . today isn't a good day. . . "
  32. (Glave)
  33. The young Mermaid had finally gotten the courage to use her legs and walk on land. Her eyes glazed slightly as she thought about how cool everything around her was. The land. The meat. Everything it caused her serrated smile to shine brightly. She was indeed a hunter and being a hunter she'd need to have a harpoon or something cool to catch things with eventually.
  34.
  35. Soon she happened upon a local swimming n fresh water, something the Mermaid truly found hilarious his flopping and mimicry of her race's movements were comical, however she doubted that it was him doing much of anything of that sort. The girl thought about her patron deity and perhaps this boy was practicing it.
  36.
  37. The girl refused to get wet, due to it taking a while to revert once she's finished and with that, she'd probably hate being landlocked. However the guy seemed to think the day wasn't good. It was amazing for her. So much new, so little old.
  38.
  39. She'd learn everything about this race. Everything about people.
  40. (Darya)
  41. 'Huh. . .' Turning around, Glave noticed a girl standing not to far from him. Just staring at him
  42.
  43. "Uuh. . . Hey there? I totally didn't just fall into that lake- erm pond. . . Whatever it is. . ." he managed to say as he tried to cover up the fact that he fell into the water
  44.
  45. "How long were you standing there he questions as he stands back in place, shifting his weight from one side to the other uneasily as he tilts his head towards the ground.
  46.
  47. It was obvious that he was kind of embarrased. For someone like him. A street rat. To fall into a pond. It wasn't something that he'd normally do. Just something that happened. Whe he was lost in his thoughts. . . And confused.
  48.
  49.
  50. (Glave)
  51. The girl shook her head, the boy didn't mean to fall into a pond, but did it anyway. Her eyes averted lightly as she looked about. This boy was likely a target for a predator or maybe bait. It was common under the seas. Plague beasts and other monsterous things beginning to defile the waters of Yama's people.
  52.
  53. A shake of her feet was made. The girl was barefoot in the plains likely hating it there. She'd have to find some place to have fun in. But the pond wasn't it. She'd shrug and look to the street rat impassively. She didn't bother speaking much but when she did, she'd cough slightly. Not too used to speaking in dry air.
  54.
  55. Her gills fluttered lightly as she hummed. "Jumping into water is an odd practice, flesh thing..." She spoke with a curious lilt, difference in accentuations over the several seas. She had heard stories of the surface.
  56.
  57. "Where can I find more flesh things? I want to explore this!"
  58. (Darya)
  59. "Uuh. . ." Glave responded.
  60.
  61. 'Just who exactly is this chick?' he thought to himself.
  62.
  63. A mermaid. . . You should no this. . . his ancestor replied to him.
  64.
  65. 'Ooh yeah, I'm sorry. Spending most of my child hood theiving and running for my life has should've taught me about this fish like creatures.' he retorted in a kind of rude like manner
  66.
  67. Which he recieved well earned mental slap on the top of his head for acting like such a brat to his ancestor.
  68.
  69. 'Alright sheesh, thanks for letting me know what it is' he thought.
  70.
  71. Sighing, Glave reached behind his head and rubbed it with one hand.
  72.
  73. "I really didn't jump in it. More like fell but that's beyond the point. " he replied.
  74.
  75. "As for where you can find more flesh things? Try a city? Like perhaps Nostvale, which isn't far from here. Just a little up to the right and you'll get there. You can even see it's walls from here" he explained as he raised his right hand as he pointed to Nostvale, which was directly north east from here.
  76.
  77. "If flesh things mean people, thats the way you want to go." he explained
  78. (Glave)
  79. People... People started with a P.... Prey also started with a P.
  80.
  81. Sounded great. The girl nodded and gave a sharp toothed smile, her water spirit swiming through the air around her, a little Mandarinfish. It's tail swooping about while it's colorful body seemed much more in tune with colorful reef enviornments, it stuck out like a sore thumb in the plains.
  82.
  83. The girl smirked and recieved some emotional contact, allowing her to pacify her need to hunt ever so slightly. The fish she had was a peaceful one. It helped her survive in situations that called for it, while there was no other reason to beside that. She sat down and looked to the boy.
  84.
  85. "So flesh things live in cities like our greats..." She said with a blink. Mostly to herself. "You flesh things do you all jump into ponds, or fall into them or whatever? Do you swim fast?"
  86.
  87. She was so curious about the people here. The water spirit itself also sharing the same curiousity. No speech only curious feelings being sent between them, a synergy if there ever was one.
  88. (Darya)
  89. 'Why me. . . ' Glave managed to to groan as he dropped both of his hands to his side as he dropped his shoulders.
  90.
  91. Looking up at her as he fixed his entire appearance. He stuck both of his hands into his pockets.
  92.
  93. Tilting his head to the side. He gave her a dull look as he began to talk to her.
  94.
  95. "First off. We're people. Humans if anything." he explained.
  96.
  97. He didn't know why but he felt like explaining humans to her.
  98.
  99. "As for cities, there are alot of people who you don't want to mess with. It's usually best to keep to yourself to avoid people who are up to no good. To be honest, it's probably best to not even enter a city. . . "
  100.
  101. Glave spoke honestly, or thats how he felt. All he had experienced within cities were torment and suffering. The only good sense of relief was the time that he purchased a room from that one Innkeeper. Ooh man did that guy make his day. Maybe his life. No one had ever made him feel like a person until he met that guy.
  102.
  103. Which made him feel guilty since he never really got the chance to or find a way to cover the bill that he owed the guy. But he was sure that one day. He would find a way.
  104.
  105. "As for do us 'people' jump into ponds? Uuh, I don't know. Everyone is different. I 'fell', so thats my part in this matter. As for if I'm a fast swimmer. . . Uuh. . . I consider myself to be somewhat fast." he said as he shrugged his shoulders.
  106.
  107. "As for you, who are you and what is that thing floating around you" he questioned
  108. (Glave)
  109. The siren stared at the boy as he tried to explain the name he had for his race. A tilt of her head was given, not much more than that, though. She simply watched as he fixed his appearance. She nodded. "Flesh things..." She said as thought she understood he was human and decided to call them flesh things for fun.
  110.
  111. The girl ade it seem as though she was annoyed with the fact that these prey animals could even comprehend much, but she would believe they also thought themselves great hunters. That would be the good part. She ran a hand over her Mandarinfish spirit and smiled. Her one friend.
  112.
  113. "Hm lots of stuff happening. Sounds good... Fun!" She said with a nod. before a question was asked of her. Who she was, she never really thought about caring about prey's questions but she would at least help him out.
  114.
  115. "I am Darya! Of the third sea. And... This is my water spirit Lotan!" She said with a pleased tone, almost a purr if fish could purr. But even then the peaceful fish swam around her from her feet to her head, both a guardian and her source of life. It was symbiosis.
  116. (Darya)
  117. Frowning, Glave couldn't help but be confused.
  118.
  119. He told her that his kind was called humans. But she still went on to call him flesh things. Which made him kind of unconfortable, but he realized that she was just toying with him. Something that he'd typically do to other people.
  120.
  121. He watched as she seemed rather irritated with something, but he couldn't tell what? Maybe it was the fact that he questioned her or maybe it was the way how he responded to her questions. Either or. He truly did not care. He barely even knew the girl. If anything, he didn't.
  122.
  123. It was then that he finally got a satisfying remark from her. Her name.
  124.
  125. But what confused him was the fact how she mentioned the third sea. . . What did that mean? He quizzed unknowing to the fact of which seat that was.
  126.
  127. But he shrugged that off. What were pressing matters was her water spirit. What exactly did that do?
  128.
  129. "What's Lotan for? Is just some kind of guardian? Or a pet?"he quizzed. Not knowing for how a fish could swim freely within the air. But it was only then that he was hit with the answer.
  130.
  131. It is a spirit
  132.
  133. Fixing his posture and frown, he remained neutral as he geninuely wanted to know the reason behind the water spirit
  134. (Glave)
  135. The girl frowned once more the inquiry on her spirit was beginning to make her about as uncomfortable.
  136.
  137. She grabbed her fishy spirit and placed him behind her to swim vfreely within close quarters while she tried to explain it's existance. The fish itself expressing distaste to the girl over the questioning. She also expressed distaste... The contact between the two uncommon.
  138.
  139. She noted that the boy was probably going to keep prodding, so she simply shrugged. The flesh thing was beginning to hit chinks. "To us sirenia... Our water spirits are guardians. They help us survive. A gift from Yama." She said with a nod, the fish moved about faster.
  140.
  141. "When we're born we have one. And it stays with us till we die." She said once more. It was her thought that she would like to think further on another subject, however it was not here.
  142.
  143. "Why are you so odd... It's like you're always lost in thought. Is your brain troubling you, flesh thing?"
  144. (Darya)
  145. Glave actually grew serious as he heard Darya's explaination upon the water spirits. Who they were to Sirens and what they meant to them.
  146.
  147. It was actually very educating as he made sure to make a mental note of the Sirenia creatures.
  148.
  149. Ignoring her question. He went ahead and prodded even more.
  150.
  151. "What happens when your spirit dies? " he questioned
  152.
  153. He wanted to know more about their kind and this was the only way how he saw it working.
  154.
  155. "You mentioned that if you die, your water spirit dies. . . So what happens if the roles are switched? " he says.
  156.
  157. Full well knowing that he hit a strong point. He wanted to know more about their kind. What started out from annoyance and boredom actually sparked an interest within him. Making him soon wonder. What made the spirits and Siren's have such a strong connection
  158. (Glave)
  159. Bad question...
  160.
  161.
  162. The girl listened with a curious thought her answer wasnt given and with that she was curiously without thought. This man asked her what happened if her spirit died, her eyes closed as she thought about it, her spirit swimming back into a pack and hiding therein before returning to her.
  163.
  164. She would look to him and stand up with a frown. "That is a good question. She said with a nod refusing to let him learn more about that specific topic. He'd have to figure it out from another being. Another book, something that had research on her people.
  165.
  166. She simply decided to try to leave. Her spirit was annoyed by the questions reflecting on her being annoyed. Now was her time to stride toward the walls with her legs, still somewhat unused to walking, she would step toward it as much as possible without much care. She was curious about the world, knowing the world would be curious about her now.
  167.
  168. And thus she left.
  169. (Darya)
