Akagi is a sullen kid, wearing her black hair in a tight ponytail. An early bloomer, she's a likely trenchcoat mafioso, taller than a lot of boys her age, but still skinny, and she wears clothes that hang on her and make her look like a scarecrow. Too many long nights and not enough time outdoors make her pale and put permanent dark circles under her bright eyes. Her father died three years ago and her relationship with her mother has been distant ever since.
When Akagi goes to school, if she goes to school, she rarely remembers a uniform and spends most of her time working on incomprehensible code-slicing on her compact terminal, a relic from her father's childhood retrofitted with modern processing power. Her only other hobby appears to be the Digimon v-pet craze, although she rarely plays with the other children - her habit of disturbingly-prescient commentary and the grown-up language she uses distances her from children, who think she's weird, and gives adults the creeps, because, well, they think she's creepy.

Akagi's partner hides by slipping into her V-Pet, which no longer has standard functions, as they've been subsumed by Kai, who functions as her partner in linkup battles as well as outside them. His form is occasionally a little wavery and indistinct around the edges, and he occasionally flares up in little digital squares, because of Akagi's tampering with his abilities. He's much tougher and quicker than most Monodramon because of her codecrafting skills, and he hits like a truck with his Beat Knuckle when given the opportunity: it's very accurate, and hits harder than it might otherwise seem. His Cracking Bite leaves a lingering malfunction like acid that eats away at the target, which isn't necessarily a big deal for another monster that can take the time to fix it, but it's a big problem for other things.
Because Akagi is so self-absorbed and silent, Kai often functions as a literal expression of her id, urging her to vent any frustrations in the most destructive (and therefore enjoyable) way possible. Generally she ignores him, but he's recently realised that she thinks her mother's work and company are behind her father's death three years ago, and is starting to work out how to push that button to drive her to destruction.
