For part two of the project I intend to fully implement a resonsive design allowing for a wider range of user experiences.  This will require developing a desktop stylesheet.  Since I will have a larger area to work with and fewer hardware constraints I should be able to add more dynamic graphical elements.  An image carousel seems like it would be particularly useful in displaying different products for the desktop version of the site.

I do not intend to use a framework at this time, but if we cover one that proves useful then I may adjust this stance.
