  1. RULES:
  2.
  3. 1) Be respectful of other people. Abusive behavior is not acceptable. This includes direct and indirect insults.
  4.
  5. 2) Be respectful of other people's beliefs, even if they are not your own. Even if it doesn't mean anything to you, it means something very important to other people.
  6.
  7. 3) You can only dispute someone else's claims by their own terms, not by yours. For example, this means that if someone is Christian, and you are trying to argue against certain elements of Christian theology, you can't use Hinduism to argue against it. Hinduism does not apply to Christian mindset. This includes trying to disprove metaphysical concepts using specifically physical premises.
  8.
  9. 4) If people ask you genuine questions, try to answer them to the best of your ability and honestly. Please try to give references if you are able to. "Because I said so" does not count as giving a reference, it is merely personal experience. You are encouraged to share the information that you have found as well as your own experiences, but you are cautioned to know the difference between the two. If someone is new to the topic they are asking about, link them to an accurate, third party source of information if possible, as well as sharing your personal experience.
  10.
  11. 5) If someone can not prove something to you, that does not mean that they are wrong our have to change their viewpoint to yours. This simply means that they have not proven something that is true to them, to you. Remember rule 2.
  12.
  13. 6) If you feel yourself getting heated and it looks like you might be getting into an argument, it is acceptable to take a few minutes and calm down. If it still looks like you or the other person will get angry, it is also acceptable to ask for a change of topic until people can think clearly again. If the mods have to suggest this, it should be given serious consideration.
  14.
  15. 7) Don't hex the mods bro.
  16.
  17. 8) People who doubt your experiences and/or are curious have as much right to be in this room as anyone else, provided they follow the rules. Just because they don't believe you doesn't mean you should treat them poorly. See rule 1 and 2.
  18.
  19. 9) If there is a dispute over the definition of a word or concept, please try to define your terms. If you use a word that means something different for specific communities or groups of people (e.g. the tulpa community) in such a way that is not the same as everyone else (e.g. "possession") and there is someone who is not familiar with the subculture's definition, you are obligated to give BOTH definitions, for the sake of clarity.
  20.
  21. 10) Off topic conversation is allowed, but if someone has questions or information in relation to metaphysics (and related topics) please let the conversation shift towards the on topic conversation.
  22.
  23. 11) Do not use information or conversations that happen in this channel as a means to degrade others for their beliefs in other channels. This channel is meant to be a safe place for people to discuss their beliefs and theories, and using it in other channels would hinder conversations here.
  24.
  25. TLDR: OMNIRULE- DON'T BE A DICK.
  26.
  27. Failure to follow the rules will be dealt with on a case by case basis, but in general will be enforced in the following manner by the mods-
  28. ~Suggestion
  29. ~Official Warning
  30. ~Kick
  31. ~Ban
  32.
  33. The rules of hospitality apply.
