- Speaking Task 1 (old 2)
- “Many universities now offer academic courses over the Internet. However, some people still prefer learning in traditional classrooms. Which do you think is better? Explain why.”
- 15 seconds to prepare:
- Make a choice between the options and think of two reasons. Write a mini-outline:
- your answer
- - reason 1 (one or both reasons can be disadvantages of the other choice)
- - reason 2
- traditional
- - discussion environment
- - internet access
- 45 seconds to speak:
- Your response can be an expansion of the mini outline
- 1 Introduction: state your answer (“In my opinion, it’s better to learn in a traditional classroom.”)
- 2 Lead-in: (“I have two reasons for this opinion.”)
- 3 First reason: (“First, a classroom is a good discussion environment.”)
- 4 Detail/example: (“You can learn more by talking about the topic with your classmates…”)
- 5 Second reason: (“Second, not everyone has internet access at home.”)
- 6 Detail/example: (“It’s better to have a class that everyone can access.”)
- (7 Conclusion - if you have time) (“In conclusion, due to discussions and accessibility, …”)
