  7. (09:04:25 PM) HypotenuseMan [theblueave@dm-22131.dhcp.snfr.nc.charter.com] entered the room.
  8. (09:04:29 PM) HypotenuseMan: Hey Gabi, you around?
  9. (09:08:03 PM) HypotenuseMan: Oop, hold that thought; gotta run.
  10. (09:08:06 PM) HypotenuseMan is now known as HM|AFK
  11. (09:28:48 PM) Gliynn: How long should I hold that thought?
  12. (09:42:37 PM) HM|AFK: Just darting in for a second - sorry - maybe about 30 or 40 more minutes.
  13. (09:46:23 PM) Gliynn: No problem.
  14. (09:47:25 PM) Gliynn: I'm asking Shonta about the Battle Range.
  15. (09:50:25 PM) Gliynn: I don't know if you're still there, HM|AFK...
  16. (09:51:37 PM) HM|AFK: Hi! Yes.
  17. (09:52:05 PM) HM|AFK: (I'm just popping in every few minutes.)
  18. (09:52:27 PM) Gliynn: OK, Shonta's coming.
  19. (09:52:38 PM) HM|AFK: Cool.
  20. (09:52:48 PM) Gliynn: So far this is what we've said:
  21. (09:52:49 PM) Gliynn: (09:47:51 PM) Shonta: Um...I dunno. It's not in the rules.
  22. (09:52:49 PM) Gliynn: (09:48:17 PM) Lady Vulpix G: I know, but we make the rules. My question is: should we allow it?
  23. (09:52:49 PM) Gliynn: (09:48:18 PM) Shonta: And as of fifth gen, that would count as a Triple Battle.
  24. (09:52:49 PM) Gliynn: (09:49:49 PM) Lady Vulpix G: It probably would, but I don't know how those battles work in the games, nor whether or not ours should work in the same way. We've had cases of 3 or more Pokemon being on the battlefield at once, and nothing stops a player from requesting the RBGs separately and doing them together.
  25. (09:52:49 PM) Gliynn: (09:51:57 PM) Lady Vulpix G: Shall we take it to the Tea House? Jeff is there.
  26. (09:53:06 PM) Classy [Mibbit@dm-38515.dhcp.mtgm.al.charter.com] entered the room.
  27. (09:53:13 PM) Gliynn: Welcome.
  28. (09:53:17 PM) HM|AFK: Hi.
  29. (09:53:29 PM) Classy: Hello.
  30. (09:54:27 PM) Gliynn: The question remains: should we allow people to request 3 RBG opponents at once?
  31. (09:55:00 PM) HM|AFK: I think so, to keep in line with triple battles.
  32. (09:55:23 PM) Classy: But in that case, shouldn't we wait until we figure out how Triple Battles would work at AC/CC?
  33. (09:55:30 PM) HM|AFK: Like they always have?
  34. (09:55:40 PM) HM|AFK: I've done a 4v4; it's not that hard.
  35. (09:56:31 PM) Gliynn: Yes, we don't have to bother with rotations and such, we don't have the same constraints of the videogames. I don't know how Surf would work, though.
  36. (09:56:44 PM) Gliynn: How much damage does each pokemon take?
  37. (09:57:28 PM) HM|AFK: Oh, you mean in the Battle Tower, not the Range.
  38. (09:57:46 PM) Gliynn: No, I mean the Battle Range. But we can discuss the Battle Tower later.
  39. (09:58:51 PM) Gliynn: Now I'm wondering what you do when you use Surf at the Battle Range.
  40. (09:59:38 PM) Classy: I always pictured a big wave.
  41. (09:59:49 PM) Gliynn: Yes, but how much damage does it do?
  42. (10:00:27 PM) Gliynn: I picture a big wave too (and I'm sure Tsunami pictures it even bigger), but I use the calculator to determine the damage.
  43. (10:00:43 PM) HM|AFK: "Moves that hit multiple Pokémon have their power reduced to 75% of their normal base power unless all other Pokémon have fainted at that point." <- That's for doubles; I wonder if it stayed for triples.
  44. (10:01:10 PM) Gliynn: It says multiple, so it should work that way too. Thanks, Jeff.
  45. (10:02:17 PM) HM|AFK: No prob.
  46. (10:03:12 PM) Gliynn: And my Surf calculator is officiclly obsolete. I knew it would happen someday.
  47. (10:03:17 PM) Gliynn: *officially
  48. (10:05:22 PM) Gliynn: OK, now back to the question.
  49. (10:06:38 PM) Gliynn: How many opponents should be allowed to be requested at once? Jeff says 3. I have no formed opinion except that I don't think we should change the battling system, which Jeff doesn't seem to want to change either. Shonta?
  50. (10:07:07 PM) Classy: Sure, leave it as it is.
  51. (10:07:30 PM) Gliynn: OK, we all agree on not changing the system. But what about the number of opponents?
  52. (10:07:44 PM) HM|AFK: My vote's for 3.
  53. (10:07:56 PM) Gliynn: I know that. I want to know Shonta's vote.
  54. (10:10:20 PM) Gliynn: We had the 1 or 2 pokemon rule before 3rd Gen came out.
  55. (10:11:22 PM) Gliynn: Classy: are you still there?
  56. (10:12:26 PM) Gliynn: Apparently not.
  57. (10:13:05 PM) Classy: I'm here now. Three's fine.
  58. (10:13:13 PM) Gliynn: OK, then.
  59. (10:13:17 PM) HM|AFK: Awesome.
  60. (10:13:21 PM) Gliynn: 3 opponents, 21 stamps, 3 weeks?
  61. (10:13:59 PM) HM|AFK: Sounds good.
  62. (10:14:23 PM) HM|AFK: And re: rating, treated like three 1 on 1s?
  63. (10:14:42 PM) Classy: Yeah.
  64. (10:15:08 PM) Gliynn: Yes.
  65. (10:15:58 PM) Gliynn: Which makes them hard to rate, since you have to look for the 5 aspects 3 times during the battle sequence.
  66. (10:16:21 PM) Gliynn: But the non-battle bits are rated normally.
  67. (10:16:45 PM) HM|AFK: Well, nothing different there; people have had to do that for mine for ages. :P
  68. (10:17:22 PM) Gliynn: Yes, I was just pointing out that they were hard to rate. :P
  69. (10:17:29 PM) HM|AFK: XD Mea culpa.
  70. (10:18:10 PM) Gliynn: What are Groviglio's Kiva's and Anzu's levels?
  71. (10:18:45 PM) HM|AFK: 18, 6, 6.
  72. (10:19:03 PM) Gliynn: O_O
  73. (10:19:11 PM) Gliynn: And they're going to battle together?
  74. (10:19:15 PM) HM|AFK: Sure!
  75. (10:19:54 PM) HM|AFK: If that's okay.
  76. (10:20:18 PM) Gliynn: I think a level 18 Absol would be quite dangerous for Kiva and Anzu.
  77. (10:22:19 PM) HM|AFK: Well, it'll add to the challenge. Groviglio will have to pull extra weight to keep them safe.
  78. (10:22:44 PM) Gliynn: OK.
  79. (10:23:57 PM) Gliynn: Now... does anyone remember how we built the Blaze Kick list in the first place?
  80. (10:24:00 PM) HM|AFK is now known as HypotenuseMan
  81. (10:24:13 PM) HypotenuseMan: Not in the slightest. :\
  82. (10:24:42 PM) Gliynn: Ah, good, no one was buying your AFK ruse.
  83. (10:25:01 PM) HypotenuseMan: Well, I actually intended to be AFK - I was talking to someone over Skype. :P
  84. (10:25:14 PM) Gliynn: Oh.
  85. (10:25:22 PM) HypotenuseMan: XD But it worked out.
  86. (10:27:14 PM) Gliynn: If we included Hitmonchan, it means we were looking at the movesets.
  87. (10:27:36 PM) HypotenuseMan: Anyway, the look of the compatibility list seems to me: Kicking move + Fire move.
  88. (10:28:38 PM) Gliynn: But Hitmontop learns Rolling Kick.
  89. (10:29:02 PM) Gliynn: And Sunny Day, but I guess Sunny Day doesn't count.
  90. (10:29:02 PM) HypotenuseMan: Does it learn any Fire moves? I can't remember.
  91. (10:29:11 PM) HypotenuseMan: AH, I meant damage-dealing fire moves.
  92. (10:29:14 PM) HypotenuseMan: *Ah
  93. (10:29:20 PM) Gliynn: OK, that works.
  94. (10:29:24 PM) HypotenuseMan: Because everything and their mother learns Sunny Day.
  95. (10:29:49 PM) Gliynn: True.
  96. (10:29:54 PM) HypotenuseMan: Actually, it looks to me more specific:
  97. (10:29:59 PM) HypotenuseMan: Kicking move + Fire Punch.
  98. (10:30:10 PM) Gliynn: Ah, yes, I think that was it.
  99. (10:30:35 PM) Gliynn: Shall we make it a comprehensive list instead?
  100. (10:30:40 PM) HypotenuseMan: Sure.
  101. (10:30:44 PM) Gliynn: It should make things easier for everyone.
  102. (10:31:05 PM) Classy: We didn't already have a list for Blaze Kick?
  103. (10:31:50 PM) Gliynn: Yes, but it didn't include any Gen 5 Pokemon.
  104. (10:31:52 PM) HypotenuseMan: As far as Gen. V is concerned, that adds pretty much only Scraggy and Pansear.
  105. (10:32:25 PM) Gliynn: *Nods.*
  106. (10:32:27 PM) Classy: Oh, okay.
  107. (10:38:09 PM) Gliynn: The list for Block in the games only adds Dwebble.
  108. (10:38:19 PM) HypotenuseMan: How did we decide Block in the first place?
  109. (10:38:26 PM) Gliynn: It was a Move Tutor.
  110. (10:38:32 PM) HypotenuseMan: Ah, okay.
  111. (10:38:41 PM) HypotenuseMan: Then sure, let's throw in Dwebble.
  112. (10:39:00 PM) Classy: Yeah.
  113. (10:39:29 PM) Gliynn: Oh, wait, it also adds Exeggcute, Totodile and Cacnea.
  114. (10:40:22 PM) Gliynn: Why Totodile?
  115. (10:40:28 PM) HypotenuseMan: You got me.
  116. (10:41:10 PM) HypotenuseMan: Same reason Finneon gets Air Cutter, I guess.
  117. (10:41:21 PM) Gliynn: To mess with players?
  118. (10:41:26 PM) HypotenuseMan: In one.
  119. (10:41:31 PM) Gliynn: Heh.
  120. (10:42:26 PM) Gliynn: OK, let's leave it at that, then.
  121. (10:42:30 PM) HypotenuseMan: In the Body Slam list, you still have Shieldon called Tatetops.
  122. (10:44:50 PM) Gliynn: Yes, I've fixed that but haven't uploaded the new file yet.
  123. (10:45:57 PM) HypotenuseMan: Also in Body Slam, gen V adds Garbodor, Shelmet, Deino and evos, Tepig, Tirtouga, Foongus, and Heatmor.
  124. (10:46:38 PM) Gliynn: Thanks.
  125. (10:47:15 PM) HypotenuseMan: I guess that should be Shelmet and evo, Tirtouga and evo, and Foongus and evo.
  126. (10:48:31 PM) Gliynn: Evolutions always count implicitly.
  127. (10:48:41 PM) HypotenuseMan: Ah, okay.
  128. (10:49:03 PM) Gliynn: I think we should add Boldore to the Block list. I can't imagine that Pokemon not being able to block someone with its arms.
  129. (10:49:14 PM) HypotenuseMan: Sounds good.
  130. (10:49:39 PM) Classy: Boldore and its evo.
  131. (10:49:57 PM) HypotenuseMan: Re: Block, if Cacnea can get it, what about Maractus?
  132. (10:50:29 PM) Gliynn: Not quite as spiky, but it could work.
  133. (10:52:05 PM) Gliynn: Almost every Pokemon learns Body Slam...
  134. (10:52:30 PM) HypotenuseMan: Should we make it a comprehensive list? What could qualify?
  135. (10:53:01 PM) Gliynn: No, I don't think so. There isn't a clear criterion.
  136. (10:53:32 PM) HypotenuseMan: Then who should we add?
  137. (10:55:32 PM) Gliynn: Unless we make it all Pokemon who can learn TMs.
  138. (10:55:38 PM) Gliynn: Even Drifloon can learn it.
  139. (10:56:34 PM) HypotenuseMan: I don't see why a Pokemon who can use, say, Return or something can't hurl itself at the enemy.
  140. (10:56:42 PM) HypotenuseMan: So yeah, I'm in favor of that.
  141. (10:57:48 PM) Classy: Yeah.
  142. (11:03:00 PM) HypotenuseMan: Hey, that said, guys, I should be leaving. ^^; Another early day tomorrow.
  143. (11:03:11 PM) HypotenuseMan: Sorry I can't stick around more.
  144. (11:03:24 PM) HypotenuseMan: Laterz.
  145. (11:03:25 PM) Gliynn: OK, see you!
  146. (11:03:29 PM) HypotenuseMan left the room (quit: Exit: Please give my regards to the next frog you meet.).
  147. (11:04:17 PM) Classy left the room (quit: Exit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
