- Hello, so you might have gotten here through snapchat, or maybe some other sort of media. Who knows? As of now, 11/8/16, Donald Trump has been elected as president. However, while all see it as a bad thing, i see it as a moment of self-reflection. Here's my reasoning.
- The IB Learner profile consists of many traits, risk-taker, knowledgable, and reflective. However, these traits all connect with one another. While Donald Trump's presidency might cause turmoil, the world will keep revolving, and remember, we are Americans. We are strong, we have survived the toughest of times, like the Great Depression. Personally, I do not see it as a time of turmoil and anxiety, but rather a time of self-reflection and learning. What we have learned from this election is that the passion of a canidate is stronger than the hate against a canidate. Many people who despised Trump mostly threw comments toward these supporters. However, Trump supporters still supported their canidate passionately, and this passion was the driving force, an unstoppable force, that sped through all limits of understanding and achieved the unthinkable.
- So how does this reroute to self-reflection? Self reflection is the act of looking at one's past and realizing mistakes, or valuable assets from such. Self reflection leads to the betterment of the self, and knowledge of experience. While this defeat may sting, as long as we, the People, strive to reflect on what went wrong, we could essentially change the tides in the next election, maybe even make the government a better play.
- However, the future is Pandora's Box. You never know what's in store for you. I feel we must be optimistic instead of pessimistic. We will not get anywhere if we continue to see Donald Trump as "The Next Hitler", but instead we must brave the storm and survive.
