  1. “So it’s okay now? You don’t want to avoid the castle anymore?”
  2. >”Not anymore. The girls helped me realize I can make new memories here but still cherish my old ones.”
  3. >You turn over the jewel in your hand, sending twinkling sounds as the string bumps into others.
  4. >The one in your hand showed a memory of one of Twilight’s armchair sessions with you when you first came here.
  5. >You’re still trying to figure out how they got the images inside.
  6. >Looking up you can see other memories, some you know and others you don’t.
  7. >It was cheesy as hell but you’re used to that in magic horse land.
  8. >The way Twilight put it did make it sound meaningful though.
  9. >And going by the content smile on her face and the fact she wasn’t bugging you all anymore, it had worked.
  10. >The corners of your mouth droop as you stare at the chandelier.
  11. >It also made your idea seem shallow in comparison.
  12. >You were confident that you would trump the girls’ “let’s mix together all our shit! What could go wrong?” idea.
  13. >Figures they came to their senses after you left and got their shit together.
  14. >Probably had a fucking song about it too.
  15. >It was too late to cancel it even if you wanted to.
  16. >Twilight perks an eyebrow at you, sensing your suddenly gloomy mood.
  17. >”Anon, is everything alright?”
  18. >You stop languidly poking the jewel in front of you.
  19. “Oh, uh… it’s nothing Twilight.” You find a sudden interest in the window next to you.
  20. >Twilight opens her mouth as if to say more but she’s interrupted by muffled knocking.
  21. >“Who could that be?” Twilight trots to the castle front doors.
  22. >Having a clue as to who it was, you followed her with less enthusiasm.
  23. >Once at the front, Twilight opens one of the double doors to reveal a mailpony.
  24. >”Can I help you?”
  25. >”We have a delivery for Princess Twilight Sparkle.”
  26. >”We?”
  27. >The mailpony steps to the side to allow Twilight to see the sight below the steps.
  28. >Stationed in front of the castle are several ponies in similar uniforms hooked up to carts.
  29. >Each cart is covered with tarps that bulge with the contents inside them.
  30. >Twilight gapes at the crowd, “What are all these?”
  31. >”Mostly books and some scrolls.”
  32. >Twilight looks back at the mailpony, ”From who?”
  33. >The delivery pony takes out a memo from his saddlebag.
  34. “From Princess Celestia, on request of one…Anonymous?” He hesitates to pronounce your unusual name.
  35. >Twilight turns her head toward you.
  36. >”Anon, you did this?”
  37. >You shrug.
  38. “Yeah, I figured that a way to make you more comfortable here was to bring back something you lost from Golden Oaks and since you weren’t able to save all of your books I thought that I could replace them. So I got the old library catalogue from town hall and asked Celestia to help find the missing ones. And since you have all that room now, I thought you would like some rare stuff that you didn’t have before.”
  39. >Twilight stares at you, eyes wide.
  40. >”Anon…” The silence makes you turn away.
  41. “Pretty lame, huh?”
  42. >You laugh to mask your disappointment.
  43. “The girls definitely had the better ide—“
  44. >A sudden weight on your leg makes you turn back around.
  45. >Twilight looks up from her position on your leg.
  46. >“Thanks Anon, I really appreciate it.”
  47. >Your mouth curls in disbelief.
  48. “You’re not saying that just to make me feel better, are you?
  49. >She hits your leg playfully.
  50. >”Of course not. Those books were part of my cherished memories as well and now I have so many new ones to make memories here! So thank you.”
  51. >You can only stare at Twilight as she gives you one more hug before returning to the mailpony.
  52. “Uh…you’re welcome.” The corners of your mouth tug up into a small smile.
  53. >That was surprising.
  54. >You do feel better about it now.
  55. >Twilight opens the other door to allow the ponies indside.
  56. >”Please follow me. The library is this way!”
  57. >Practically skipping, she leads the train of ponies inside the castle halls.
  58. >”Spike! Clear our schedule, we have some shelving to do!”
  59. >A loud groan echoes from within the castle.
