- “So it’s okay now? You don’t want to avoid the castle anymore?”
- >”Not anymore. The girls helped me realize I can make new memories here but still cherish my old ones.”
- >You turn over the jewel in your hand, sending twinkling sounds as the string bumps into others.
- >The one in your hand showed a memory of one of Twilight’s armchair sessions with you when you first came here.
- >You’re still trying to figure out how they got the images inside.
- >Looking up you can see other memories, some you know and others you don’t.
- >It was cheesy as hell but you’re used to that in magic horse land.
- >The way Twilight put it did make it sound meaningful though.
- >And going by the content smile on her face and the fact she wasn’t bugging you all anymore, it had worked.
- >The corners of your mouth droop as you stare at the chandelier.
- >It also made your idea seem shallow in comparison.
- >You were confident that you would trump the girls’ “let’s mix together all our shit! What could go wrong?” idea.
- >Figures they came to their senses after you left and got their shit together.
- >Probably had a fucking song about it too.
- >It was too late to cancel it even if you wanted to.
- >Twilight perks an eyebrow at you, sensing your suddenly gloomy mood.
- >”Anon, is everything alright?”
- >You stop languidly poking the jewel in front of you.
- “Oh, uh… it’s nothing Twilight.” You find a sudden interest in the window next to you.
- >Twilight opens her mouth as if to say more but she’s interrupted by muffled knocking.
- >“Who could that be?” Twilight trots to the castle front doors.
- >Having a clue as to who it was, you followed her with less enthusiasm.
- >Once at the front, Twilight opens one of the double doors to reveal a mailpony.
- >”Can I help you?”
- >”We have a delivery for Princess Twilight Sparkle.”
- >”We?”
- >The mailpony steps to the side to allow Twilight to see the sight below the steps.
- >Stationed in front of the castle are several ponies in similar uniforms hooked up to carts.
- >Each cart is covered with tarps that bulge with the contents inside them.
- >Twilight gapes at the crowd, “What are all these?”
- >”Mostly books and some scrolls.”
- >Twilight looks back at the mailpony, ”From who?”
- >The delivery pony takes out a memo from his saddlebag.
- “From Princess Celestia, on request of one…Anonymous?” He hesitates to pronounce your unusual name.
- >Twilight turns her head toward you.
- >”Anon, you did this?”
- >You shrug.
- “Yeah, I figured that a way to make you more comfortable here was to bring back something you lost from Golden Oaks and since you weren’t able to save all of your books I thought that I could replace them. So I got the old library catalogue from town hall and asked Celestia to help find the missing ones. And since you have all that room now, I thought you would like some rare stuff that you didn’t have before.”
- >Twilight stares at you, eyes wide.
- >”Anon…” The silence makes you turn away.
- “Pretty lame, huh?”
- >You laugh to mask your disappointment.
- “The girls definitely had the better ide—“
- >A sudden weight on your leg makes you turn back around.
- >Twilight looks up from her position on your leg.
- >“Thanks Anon, I really appreciate it.”
- >Your mouth curls in disbelief.
- “You’re not saying that just to make me feel better, are you?
- >She hits your leg playfully.
- >”Of course not. Those books were part of my cherished memories as well and now I have so many new ones to make memories here! So thank you.”
- >You can only stare at Twilight as she gives you one more hug before returning to the mailpony.
- “Uh…you’re welcome.” The corners of your mouth tug up into a small smile.
- >That was surprising.
- >You do feel better about it now.
- >Twilight opens the other door to allow the ponies indside.
- >”Please follow me. The library is this way!”
- >Practically skipping, she leads the train of ponies inside the castle halls.
- >”Spike! Clear our schedule, we have some shelving to do!”
- >A loud groan echoes from within the castle.
