  4. 06[20:34] * TrickyDick Is carrying some poor passed out male combees, puffing slightly from the walk. "Hey Lucky! Where have you been all day?"

  6. 01[20:35] <Thomas> "Oh, sup, Lucky?" he hikes on over to the city entrance.

  8. [20:36] <Claus> "Hey." He'd wave. He's still got all his Pokemon out, Victoria and Tink on his left and right shoulders, Scott walking ahead.
  9. [20:36] <Lakshmi> "Hi Tom, Ricky!" She waves at the guys, Naga slithering near her leg while she holds her camera. "I got lost from you guys, sorry 'bout that."
  10. 01[20:37] <Thomas> "That's...sorta impressive considering we just followed the road here!"
  11. [20:37] <TrickyDick> "You missed a hell of a day. Would have been a great Photo op."
  12. 06[20:39] * ~Paradox is suddenly picturing TOM and RICKY from their respective games instead of Thomas and Richard. and it is TERRIFYING.
  13. [20:40] <Alexis> "Lots of interesting Pokemon. We ran into someone drawing a herd of grazing Rhyhorn, too."
  14. 06[20:40] * Alexis sets Roland down, keeping a close eye on him so he doesn't make any trouble.
  15. 01[20:40] <Thomas> "You seen Jin, though?"
  16. [20:41] <TrickyDick> "Yeah, she left a note saying you two were together I think."
  17. [20:42] <~Paradox> She did no such thing! And speak of the devil, Alexis' pokedex buzzes as she gets a text.
  18. [20:42] <Lakshmi> "Well that is a darn shame!"
  19. [20:43] <Alexis> "Buh?" She flips the device open.
  20. [20:43] <Alexis> Her eyes scan the text quickly. "Looks like we've got rooms at the Starkspring, courtesy of our Glorious Sponsor-Leader."
  21. [20:43] <Alexis> "She'll be back tonight."
  22. 06[20:43] * Thomas looks over to the city entrance. "Gonna be interestin' goin' around these places as a registered trainer. Hm."
  23. [20:46] <TrickyDick> "Starkspring? Sounds ritzy. Well, I was gonna head to the Center to heal up these little guys. We can get that little seed guy healed up too while we are at it. Centers do that sorta thing, right?"
  24. 01[20:47] <Thomas> "Could use some time to chill after gettin' decked in the face as well. That little bug hits like a truck."
  25. 06[20:47] * Lakshmi lifts an eyebrown at the guy's comments. "Waddyamean by that? Did you guys got in trouble?"
  26. [20:47] <Alexis> "Yeah, as always, the Center comes first." She's still got the Sunkern held.
  27. [20:48] <Alexis> "Something like that. Let's chat on the way, though, yeah?"
  28. [20:49] <~Paradox> The Center is practicaly the first big building you see as you walk farther into town.
  29. 06[20:49] * TrickyDick Nods grinning at Lucky, "Told you, you missed a great photo op."
  30. [20:49] <Claus> "Conveniently placed, isn't it?"
  31. [20:49] <~Paradox> It's big and expensive looking, very modern.
  32. [20:50] <~Paradox> It looks a little bit like a small hospital, which you suppose it is.
  33. [20:50] <Alexis> "It'd have to be, considering its purpose....and how dangerous the route here is."
  34. 06[20:50] * Alexis walks inside, making sure Roland was following along quite nicely.
  35. [20:50] <Lakshmi> "Darn it... Guess we'll find somethin' better here i reckon."
  36. 06[20:50] * Claus would walk in, carefully looking around and sizing the place up.
  37. 01[20:50] <Thomas> "Picked a fight with a mean little - oh hey that was quick," follows along inside. "Well this can't take too long, can it?"
  38. [20:50] <~Paradox> Roland is indeed following along quite nicely. Well, he's following anyway, you don't know if you can bring yourself to call that facial expression "nice"
  39. [20:51] <Lakshmi> "Also who is that guy." She points at Roland.
  40. 06[20:52] * TrickyDick follows along looking at the fancy Center mouthing 'Wow" silently.
  41. [20:52] <~Paradox> The Center itself looks quite nice! There's a little cafe, with a resting area with tables, couches, and the like.
  42. [20:52] <~Paradox> To the right there's a row of about 6 computers or so. Only one of them is occupied.
  43. 06[20:53] * Alexis frowns at Roland. :( "Come on, little guy. Can't you enjoy -anything- other than making people mad?"
  44. [20:53] <~Paradox> In the center, there's the counter. The nurse smiles at all of you as you come in.
  45. [20:53] <~Paradox> There seems to be a staircase going to the upper levels, as well.
  46. 06[20:53] * Alexis greets the nurse. "Hello, there."
  47. 06[20:54] * TrickyDick Smiles back at the nurse bringing up the too 'bees behind Alexis. "Hi."
  48. 06[20:54] * Thomas walks up as well, putting his cube on the table. "Hey ya...so...how does this work exactly?"
  49. [20:54] <Alexis> "This Sunkern's not looking so hot - it was attacked by a bunch of Liepard."
  50. [20:54] <~Paradox> "Oh no! Poor little guy."
  51. [20:54] <~Paradox> "Just put him in his pokeball and I'll get everybody all healed up!"
  52. 06[20:54] * Lakshmi gives nods at the nurse behind the counter and heads to the cafe, hoping to get a mug of coffee.
  53. [20:55] <Alexis> "....his Pokeball? No, we just found him on the route here."
  54. [20:55] <~Paradox> "The machines take about an hour to work, so feel free to relax at the cafe, or come back later!"
  55. 06[20:55] * TrickyDick Nods "Uh, yeah these poor guys are wilds..."
  56. [20:55] <Alexis> "Well, Roland belongs to me, but yeah, this Sunkern's still wild."
  57. [20:55] <~Paradox> "Oh..."
  58. [20:56] <Alexis> "Sorry, little guy." She returns the angry bird, seeing as he took his fair share of scrapes and bruises.
  59. [20:56] <~Paradox> "Well, let's see ... so that means these pokemon aren't insured .. uhm.."
  60. 06[20:56] * Thomas slides his Pokecube across, in any case. "Got any aspirin or somethin' for people? Heh."
  61. [20:56] <~Paradox> She looks around conspiratiorally
  62. [20:56] <~Paradox> conspiratorially* god that is a big word
  63. [20:56] <Lakshmi> "Waddyamean 'bout insured?" Lucky says when she returns to the counter holding her coffee.
  64. [20:57] <Alexis> "....long story short, one of us has to own him."
  65. [20:57] <~Paradox> She whispers. "We're only supposed to heal insured trainer's pokemon here at the center."
  66. [20:57] <~Paradox> "But..."
  67. [20:57] <~Paradox> "I can't just tell you to buzz off! So..."
  68. [20:57] <Claus> "C'mon, all of you in your balls or cube." He'd put all of his pokes in their storage recepticles. Whatever they are.
  69. [20:58] <Lakshmi> "That's dreadful! Poor lil' guy is dyin' an' you just let him rot?"
  70. 01[20:58] <Thomas> "Can't we just stick em' in a ball an' then just let him go later?"
  71. [20:59] <~Paradox> "Well, you could do that! I uhm, I could heal them without doing that, but I couldn't use the machine."
  72. [20:59] <~Paradox> "We have plenty of supplies in the clinic for emergencies."
  73. [20:59] <TrickyDick> "Oh that would be great of you. I'd hate to see these little guys all roughed up in the wild."
  74. 06[21:00] * Thomas shrugs. "Well, we'll just have to make a habit of seein' to this ourselves in the future."
  75. [21:00] <TrickyDick> "Yeah. Can't go all crazy on wilds when we see them I guess."
  76. [21:01] <Lakshmi> "Oh that's a bit better i reckon..."
  77. [21:01] <Alexis> "Can't make this a habit, I guess," she says with some disappointment. She sets the Sunkern, as well as Roland and Fyodor's Poke Balls on the counter.
  78. [21:01] <~Paradox> "Well, Pokemon are pretty resilient! You'd be surprised what they bounce back from."
  79. 06[21:01] * Claus would set cube and ball on the counter.
  80. [21:02] <Alexis> "Doesn't mean we shouldn't be careful, though," she notes, bitterly recalling the Diglett incident.
  81. 06[21:02] * TrickyDick Sets the bees on the counter.
  82. 06[21:02] * Thomas heads over to the cafe to help himself to some coffee in the mean time. "Whaddya guys say about lookin' around town while we wait on them to get healed up?"
  83. [21:02] <~Paradox> The Nurse takes all the pokeballs, and puts them in the machine. She takes the Sunkern and the bees, too.
  84. [21:03] <Lakshmi> "I don' have a problem wi'that."
  85. [21:04] <TrickyDick> "Sounds good to me."
  86. [21:04] <TrickyDick> "Maybe we can take a peek at the gym too?"
  87. 01[21:05] <Thomas> "Prolly' a good idea, hell if I know how this stuff works out."
  88. [21:05] <Alexis> "When should we return, then?" Alexis asks the nurse.
  89. [21:06] <~Paradox> "This is all pretty minor, so an hour should be fine!"
  90. [21:07] <~Paradox> "But we'll hold Pokemon up to 24 hours before fining!"
  91. 06[21:07] * TrickyDick Whispers to himself "They fine?"
  92. [21:07] <Alexis> "Good to know! We'll see you soon!"
  93. [21:08] <Lakshmi> "Guess we leavin' then."
  94. 06[21:08] * Alexis pats Richard on the back. "A-yup. We shouldn't worry, though."
  95. 01[21:08] <Thomas> "So we're good long as we stop by before headin' to the hotel. Alright, thanks Nurse!"
  96. [21:08] <Alexis> "What do you guys want to see?"
  97. [21:09] <TrickyDick> "I'd like to check out the gym and..Well what is this place known for? The linkything right?"
  98. 01[21:10] <Thomas> "Well, we got an hour to burn at the least, might as well check out the gym. Ain't got much spendin' cash on me anyway."
  99. [21:10] <TrickyDick> "Yeah...I have just enough for cooking supplies."
  100. [21:10] <Claus> "I'd like to check it out as well."
  101. [21:11] <Lakshmi> "Maybe we can find other of the novice trainers as well!"
  102. [21:12] <~Paradox> Checking your Pokedex for SWEET MAPS, the Gym isn't hard to find!
  103. [21:12] <Alexis> "Huh? Oh!" She's obviously quite distracted by something. "Yeah, the Gym seems like a good first stop, then."
  104. [21:12] <Claus> "...maybe I'll meet some new girls there."
  105. 06[21:13] * TrickyDick Nods heading off to the Gym!
  106. [21:14] <~Paradox> The Zosma City Official Gym is a tall majestic building with columns out in front. In front of it is the biggest fountain any of you have ever seen, with lights shining into the water.
  107. 06[21:14] * Claus walking straight for it, adjusting his glasses and fixing his hair a little. And tigtening that scarf. Gotta' make sure it billows in the wind properly.
  108. 06[21:15] * Alexis simply pats out her coat. Fashion speaks for itself!
  109. [21:15] <Claus> (*tightening)
  110. 06[21:15] * TrickyDick Whistles as the group gets closer following Claus' example sprucing up his jacket and shirt, "I hope ours will be this nice."
  111. [21:15] <~Paradox> As you pull open the tall, majestic hardwood doors, it is IMMEDIATELY obvious that the inside is ... quite different.
  112. [21:16] <~Paradox> There' bright neon streamers EVERYWHERE, and pink, green, and yellow lights are flashing.
  113. [21:16] <Lakshmi> "That's fancy, i gotta say." She says while taking a picture of the Gym's entrance.
  114. [21:16] <Lakshmi> "Oooh that will look good on an Album!"
  115. 01[21:16] <Thomas> "That's...what hell of a venue for our first big gig," he says as he enteres, though he's curious about the color options.
  116. 06[21:17] * Alexis squints. Good -lord-, the color!
  117. [21:17] <Claus> "My eyes..."
  118. 06[21:17] * Claus takes off glasses, rubs his eyes, puts them back on, then looks again. Nope, still ridiculous.
  119. [21:17] <~Paradox> Two Clefairy jump off two nearby pedestals, and offer glasses!
  120. 06[21:17] * TrickyDick blinks taking a glass from the fairy "Uh. Whatthehell is this?"
  121. [21:17] <~Paradox> They look like an odd mix of sunglasses and 3-d glasses, with white sparkly rims.
  122. [21:18] <Claus> "I've already got my own, no thanks."
  123. [21:18] <Lakshmi> "Aw that pink lil' un looks pretty adorrable!" She takes the glasses and puts it. "Now... What are they supposed to do?"
  124. 06[21:18] * Thomas accepts the glasses, curiously. "This is gonna be some trippy shit, it seems," he puts them on.
  125. [21:18] <~Paradox> The Clefairies look at each other, and one of them tucks a pair of the 3-d sunglasses into Claus' pocket.
  126. [21:18] <~Paradox> They then point at the door behind them.
  127. [21:19] <Claus> "Ah...okay. I'll keep it as a souvenir, I guess."
  128. [21:19] <~Paradox> You can hear loud rhythmic music playing.
  129. 06[21:19] * TrickyDick Puts the glasses on walking up to the door, bracing for what ever. "This is...A thing for sure."
  130. [21:19] <Alexis> "....I'm sorry, these just look -ridiculous-."
  131. 06[21:19] * Alexis looks over the sunglasses curiously.
  132. [21:20] <~Paradox> White sparkly rims. One darkened lens, red. One darkened lens, blue.
  133. [21:20] <~Paradox> Nothing terribly fancy.
  134. [21:20] <Alexis> She puts them on anyway.
  135. [21:20] <Claus> "Can't they do 3D without glasses by now anyway?"
  136. [21:21] <Lakshmi> "Three-Dee?"
  137. [21:21] <~Paradox> You suddenly hear loud clapping from behind the doors.
  138. [21:21] <Alexis> "Three-dimensional viewing," she says with a sigh. "You know, how we see normally."
  139. [21:23] <Lakshmi> "Then why would we need those if we can see normally?"
  140. [21:23] <Lakshmi> "Aren't glasses supp'sed to fix the sight?"
  141. [21:23] <Alexis> "That's what I'm wondering. Maybe he's got a 3D movie or projection in here or something."
  142. 06[21:23] * TrickyDick Shrugs at Lucky, "Who knows but it sounds like something is going on behind door number one here..."
  143. [21:23] <Claus> "You know how photos are flat images? These are glasses meant to make special photos not look flat."
  144. [21:23] <~Paradox> The clapping eventually stops, and then you hear muffled talking.
  145. [21:23] <Alexis> "...."
  146. [21:24] <Alexis> "Hi!" she says to the clapper.
  147. [21:24] <~Paradox> The clapping is coming from the next room :T
  148. 01[21:24] <Thomas> "Are we interruptin' somethin'?" He slowly opens the door.
  149. [21:24] <~Paradox> So you say hi to the door!
  150. [21:24] <Alexis> (Because I'll be damned if I don't continue this long-standing tradition)
  151. [21:25] <~Paradox> Thomas finally opens the door, and sees a HUGE fucking concert hall.
  152. [21:25] <Claus> "...whoa."
  153. [21:25] <TrickyDick> "Whoa"
  154. [21:25] <~Paradox> It's quite dark at the moment, except for the stage.
  155. [21:25] <~Paradox> "Even in the dark, you can tell the place is PACKED.
  156. 06[21:25] * Lakshmi lifts a finger and is about to say something but doesn't. Instead she just follows the others inside teh concert hall.
  157. [21:26] <~Paradox> On the stage, there's a person with long blonde hair talking on a microphone.
  158. 06[21:26] * Thomas scoots to the side, letting the others file in.
  159. 06[21:26] * TrickyDick Files in trying to keep quiet.
  160. [21:26] <~Paradox> Behind them, there's a Togetic flying in place with a bass, a meowth on a guitar, a Jigglypuff standing with a rack with various odd instruments, and an Ursaring on drums.
  161. [21:27] <~Paradox> "You guys at the door! Welcome! Get, quickly, you're just in time for the next song!"
  162. [21:27] <~Paradox> The person on the mic is talking to you! :O
  163. 06[21:27] * Claus would blink a few times, then find a seat.
  164. [21:27] <Alexis> "....um."
  165. 06[21:27] * Thomas raises an eyebrow. "This is the -second- weirdest gig I've ever seen."
  166. [21:27] <Alexis> "Sure! Let's just find a seat."
  167. [21:27] <Lakshmi> "What in tarnation is goin' on?" She retreats a bit, looking intimidated by the SUDDEN ATTENTION.
  168. 06[21:27] * Alexis does just that.
  169. [21:28] <~Paradox> There's no seats, it's mostly standing room.
  170. [21:28] <TrickyDick> "Second?"
  171. 06[21:28] * Thomas finds a spot against the wall to stand. "Ever heard a Jynx sing?"
  172. 06[21:29] * Claus just walks over to a wall like Thomas did, then.
  173. [21:29] <Alexis> "Welp. Let's see what's up here, then...."
  174. [21:29] <~Paradox> As soon as the door closes and you're all settled in, the person on the mic smiles.
  175. [21:29] <Claus> "I've never actually been to a concert, actually..."
  176. 06[21:29] * Alexis stands on her toes, trying to get a good look...
  177. [21:29] <~Paradox> "Alright! Welcome rad dudes and dudettes. Now, this next piece was something I wrote when I was in a very dark place..."
  178. 01[21:30] <Thomas> "The bear on the drums is sorta badass though, I need to get myself one of those eventually."
  179. [21:30] <Claus> "Like here?"
  180. [21:30] <~Paradox> Even now that you're closer, you can't tell if this person on the mic is a man or a woman
  181. [21:31] <~Paradox> You HOPE a man, since despite the long flowing gold hair and the feminine voice, they don't really have much clothes on - mostly colorful rags sort of drapped around them.
  182. 06[21:31] * TrickyDick Shakes his head and peers at the stage. "That is a hell of a band."
  183. 06[21:31] * Lakshmi stands on a wall herself, looking really confused about what the hell is going on. "I thought this was a Gym, not a concert hall?"
  184. [21:31] <~Paradox> the PERSON starts singing, and OH GOD
  185. [21:31] <~Paradox> suddenly LIGHT everywhere, of all the fucking colors and then some
  186. [21:32] <Alexis> "Nothing says it can't be both."
  187. [21:32] <Claus> (Do we hear colors too? Oh wait, this isn't Pink Floyd)
  188. [21:32] <Alexis> ( Depends. Is Claus synaesthetic? )
  189. [21:32] <~Paradox> As the music plays, shapes and patterns seem to form in the empty space above your heards, change, break, meld into each other, and then BURST

  205. [21:34] <TrickyDick> (I think only Claus?)
  206. [21:34] <Claus> (Claus isn't, because he doesn't wear glasses over his glasses. That would be silly.)
  207. [21:38] <~Paradox> Everyone but Thomas is overcome by OVERWHELMING emotions throughout the concert, changing to match the song. Sometimes it's joy, othertimes excitement, something sorrow or dread. It changes with the colors and shapes above you, and the music coming from the stage.
  208. 06[21:38] * Lakshmi is terrified by the music and colors and holy Arceus what is going on i want to go back home ;_;
  209. [21:38] <Claus> "This is awwwwwwesome"
  210. [21:39] <~Paradox> Thomas just kind of experiences a normal concert! And being from the concert scene doesn't sense anything too odd... except that people seem to react really strongly to the emotions of the lyrics.
  211. [21:39] <~Paradox> Even when the lyrics are sad and the music is happy, you see some people actually cry.
  212. 01[21:40] <Thomas> "Man, this guy's got one hell of a stage technician."
  213. [21:40] <~Paradox> Thomas lasts a full 45 minutes before his mind sort of ...
  214. [21:40] <~Paradox> BLANKS
  215. [21:40] <Alexis> bluuuuuuh what the double hell is going on
  216. [21:40] <Alexis> since when did she become a highschooler again
  217. 06[21:40] * TrickyDick Just stares mouth agape.
  218. [21:41] <~Paradox> An hour after THAT, there's a lot of clapping and shouting and things being thrown on stage
  219. [21:41] <~Paradox> Lakshmi in particular doing all of these things, and being thrown back into the audience by bouncers as she tries to climb onto the stage.
  220. [21:41] <~Paradox> Your memories of the last hour and 20 mins or so are ... FUZZY.
  221. [21:42] <Claus> He laughs. He cries. He might even do things with the other trainers that he normally wouldn't do and would probably regret if he didn't black out. And yeah, he claps pretty hard at the end.
  222. 01[21:42] <Thomas> "Buuuuuh - what the hell I'll go get Lucky before she gets herself thrown out of here or somethin'-" He goes to do that!
  223. [21:42] <TrickyDick> "That. Was. Awesome."
  224. 06[21:42] * Lakshmi is trying to put back her shirt and is blushing heavily when the show stops and starts thinking "What the fuck."
  225. [21:43] <~Paradox> As the concert finally ends, everyone finally sort of begins to meander out, euphoric looks on their faces.
  226. [21:43] <~Paradox> well, euphoric isn't quite the right word. Just... bliss.
  227. [21:43] <Claus> "My head hurts. and why was my shirt off? Maybe I shouldn't care, I feel pretty good...."
  228. 06[21:43] * Alexis officially upgrades the situation to "what the triple hell"
  229. [21:44] <TrickyDick> "Man. Maybe I should be a rockstar instead of a trainer. That was sweet."
  230. [21:44] <Alexis> Nevertheless, she buttons the top two buttons of her shirt back up and doesn't think about it too much.
  231. [21:44] <Alexis> "Seems like the life."
  232. [21:44] <~Paradox> "Call me later," a girl says, winking at Claus and handing him back his shirt as she follows the crowd out.
  233. 06[21:44] * Claus would blink, and would probably find a new number in his phone.
  234. 06[21:45] * Alexis checks her pockets for potential lost items.
  235. [21:45] <Alexis> ....or worse, if anything -new- was in them.
  236. 01[21:45] <Thomas> "Lucky what the hell are you doin'?" He just stands by for a moment, raised eyebrow hid by these silly glasses.
  237. [21:45] <~Paradox> You don't see a new number on your phone, but you do notice someone wrote one on your chest in bright pink sharpie.
  238. [21:45] <Alexis> "My mouth tastes like alcohol...."
  239. [21:45] <Alexis> "Who the hell did I kiss?"
  240. [21:46] <~Paradox> Eventually, you're the only ones left in the big hall.
  241. [21:46] <Claus> "Whose number is this?"
  242. 06[21:46] * TrickyDick Is missing his jacket and headband. "Man. What time is it even? I feel like doing something."
  243. [21:47] <Alexis> ".....look, maybe we should just go back. That's way too much fun for one night." She simply tosses the glasses aside.
  244. [21:47] <Alexis> "Also, Tom? Remind me to -never- do that again."
  245. 01[21:47] <Thomas> Thomas doesn't seem particulary different, but his knuckles are sort of red. He -may- of punched someone's lights out.

  520. [23:04] <~Paradox> The Sunkern is chatting with Victoria, no longer sunning itself.
  521. 01[23:05] <Thomas> "So to the gym, or hittin' the town? Last call, though we should get some work done."
  522. 06[23:06] * Claus just sits and watches Vic and Sunny chat. Can't really understand it, but hey, it's probably fun to watch.
  523. [23:06] <Alexis> "....alright, then, Fyodor, we're leaving. Come on, now."
  524. 06[23:09] * Thomas returns his companions and heads out front, looking to the gym.
  525. [23:09] <~Paradox> Alright, you all get moving and out the door! Fyodor even manages to eat and walk the same time, though it isn't easy!
  526. [23:10] <~Paradox> Are you heading to the gym again, then?
  527. 01[23:10] <Thomas> (well, that's my vote, at least.)

  534. [23:14] <~Paradox> You get back to the gym, entering the sparkly lobby once more.
  535. 06[23:14] * TrickyDick pats his pocket with the glasses in it.
  536. [23:14] <~Paradox> Instead of Clefairies wielding showglasses, there's a woman sitting behind a desk that hadn't been there before. She's reading a book, and doesn't seem to notice you as you come in.
  537. 06[23:15] * TrickyDick Coughs politely.
  538. 06[23:16] * Thomas chuckles, crossing his arms. "Slow mornin'?"
  539. [23:16] <~Paradox> "Oh! Hi!"
  540. [23:17] <Claus> "Hi there~"
  541. [23:17] <~Paradox> "If you're here to buy ticket for the show, uhm, well all the shows are free. We do shows 3 times a week, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday - at 6PM on Wednesdays, at 9PM on Friday and Saturday!"
  542. [23:18] <TrickyDick> "Uh, actually we want a match. A Gym Match."
  543. [23:18] <Claus> "Yeah, sorry, not here for the show."
  544. [23:19] <~Paradox> "Oh. Sorry, this uh, never happens."
  545. [23:19] <~Paradox> "Well, you can head upstairs then!"
  546. [23:19] <~Paradox> "Starfall is in his study."
  547. [23:20] <~Paradox> She points to a door to the right.
  548. 01[23:20] <Thomas> "Yeah, that seems to be the case. Thanks." He heads to the right, then!
  549. 06[23:20] * TrickyDick Follows Thomas 'Starfall? Stage name I guess?"
  550. [23:21] <Alexis> "How does this gym even stay open if he doesn't battle?"
  551. [23:21] <Claus> "Weird one." He'd be following along.
  552. 06[23:22] * Thomas shrugs. "Possibly. And who knows where the hell the cash comes from?"
  553. [23:22] <TrickyDick> "I guess if you throw concerts like that one. I guess people'll donate or something?"
  554. [23:22] <~Paradox> As you get up the stairs, you enter the narrow second floor. It seems to be a ring that sort of surrounds the big concert hall.
  555. [23:22] <~Paradox> Most of it seems to be lined with BOOKS
  556. [23:23] <~Paradox> You're quickly spotted by a Togetic, who flies towards you.

  559. [23:24] <Claus> "Hi!"
  560. [23:24] <Alexis> "....um, hi!"

  562. [23:25] <~Paradox> He begins flying before receving an answer, leading you around the narrow curving corridor
  563. 06[23:25] * Thomas just nods and follows the Togetic.
  564. [23:26] <Alexis> "Friendly."
  565. 06[23:26] * Claus follows it, looking in awe at the sheer volume of BOOKS
  566. 06[23:26] * TrickyDick Ambles after. Looking at BOOKS.
  567. [23:27] <~Paradox> "Starfall" is at a small table, which has a bunch of books on it. He's wearing somewhat more sensible clothing - bright pink shorts, a fishnet shirt, and a vest. I said SOMEWHAT.

  569. [23:27] <~Paradox> "Oh. Hi!"
  570. [23:28] <~Paradox> < I think they're here coz they wanna fight! >
  571. [23:28] <~Paradox> The Togetic flies around excitedly over his master's head.
  572. [23:28] <TrickyDick> "Thats right!"
  573. 06[23:28] * Thomas questions which is odder, the vest or the fishnet. "Yup."
  574. [23:28] <TrickyDick> "Also uh, hello."
  575. [23:31] <~Paradox> "Hi. I'm Starfall!"
  576. [23:31] <~Paradox> "Sit down, sit down!"
  577. 06[23:31] * Thomas nods and takes a seat at the table. "Thomas."
  578. 06[23:32] * Claus sits down at the table, looking at boooooks.
  579. 06[23:32] * TrickyDick Follows suit "Richard."
  580. [23:32] <~Paradox> He goes back to looking down at the very very old book he has in front of him.
  581. [23:33] <Alexis> "What're you reading?"
  582. [23:34] <~Paradox> "It's an old book about mythology!"
  583. [23:34] <~Paradox> "Nothing that you'd be interested in. Sorry, I just wanted to finish that paragraph..."
  584. [23:35] <~Paradox> "So you're here for a fight?"
  585. [23:35] <~Paradox> He closes the book.
  586. 01[23:36] <Thomas> "Yeah, understand you don't see many challengers. Well, that or turn a lot of them away."
  587. 06[23:36] * TrickyDick Nods along.
  588. [23:36] <~Paradox> He nods. "I have SHOWS to prepare for, and then I have to STUDY, and then I have to help mom with her RESEARCH ... I can't just take time out of my valuable day for anyone!"
  589. [23:37] <TrickyDick> "Isn't that the point of being a Gym Leader though?"
  590. [23:37] <Claus> "I feel you, man. I had to help my parents out with some of their stuff too."
  591. [23:37] <TrickyDick> "Like...Taking on challengers?"
  592. [23:37] <Alexis> "Yeah, my sister and parents are always pretty busy with their own work, too."
  593. [23:37] <~Paradox> "Yes, but I only take on the very best ones."
  594. [23:37] <~Paradox> He stands up.
  595. [23:38] <~Paradox> "YOU."
  596. 01[23:38] <Thomas> "Well hell, I'd imagine you only really get a spike of challengers like once a year when us new guys get registered anyway, can't be that bad."
  597. [23:38] <~Paradox> He points at Thomas.
  598. 06[23:38] * TrickyDick Scratches his head whispering "How do you know if you don't battle them?"
  599. [23:38] <~Paradox> "You can challenge me."
  600. [23:38] <Alexis> "Buh?"
  601. [23:38] <~Paradox> "The rest of you..."
  602. [23:38] <Alexis> "Why him?"
  603. [23:38] <~Paradox> "You'll have to show me you're special! And I think I have just the way!"
  604. [23:39] <~Paradox> "Why him? Because he's Thomas Explosion!"
  605. [23:39] <Alexis> ".....that's not a very good reason!"
  606. [23:39] <Alexis> "You asked for the very best, not for the most famous!"
  607. [23:39] <Alexis> She's actually offended now.
  608. 06[23:39] * TrickyDick Scowls slightly and 'Starfall' "And we show you we are special how?"
  609. [23:40] <~Paradox> He shrugs. "It isn't about fame. I know he's a person of talent. I know he's got the moxie to be SPECIAL. I haven't heard about the rest of you, so I doubt you even have any badges. Do you?"
  610. 01[23:41] <Thomas> "Hey now," he sits up a little. "These guys and I have been picked to start a club, but we need two badges each to get that movin'. So let's not turn this into a mudslingin' match over nothin.' "
  611. [23:41] <Alexis> "Neither does he, though."
  612. [23:41] <TrickyDick> "We don't."
  613. [23:41] <Claus> "I don't, but neither does he."
  614. [23:41] <~Paradox> "Okay, FINE, you've convinced me."
  615. [23:41] <~Paradox> "He can't challenge me either! Sorry Mr. Explosion."
  616. 06[23:42] * Alexis sighs. "Then I guess we've wasted our time here, then."
  617. [23:42] <~Paradox> "So you'll ALL have to prove your worth!"
  618. [23:42] <TrickyDick> "And how do we do that?"
  619. [23:43] <~Paradox> "I wouldn't say that. You just got admitted into the tri-anual NovaLabs supercontest!"
  620. 06[23:43] * Thomas shrugs and frowns, "Fine by me I guess."
  621. [23:43] <~Paradox> "Novice Circuit of course."
  622. 06[23:43] * Alexis 's quickly approaching the point where she simply wants to try her luck elsewhere.
  623. [23:43] <TrickyDick> "Wait. So we have to do a contest before we can challenge a gym?"
  624. [23:44] <Alexis> "That seems kinda backwards."
  625. [23:44] <~Paradox> "Yep! You don't even have to win. You just have to really try. And I'll know if you're not REALLY trying."
  626. [23:44] <~Paradox> "I don't think so! They're both about preparation, hard work, guts, and STYLE!"
  627. [23:45] <TrickyDick> "...Deal."
  628. [23:45] <Alexis> "Pass."
  629. [23:45] <TrickyDick> "When is the Contest?"
  630. 01[23:45] <Thomas> "Contests are like street jams without the clobberin' bit, right? Alright, sounds fine here - wait wah?"
  631. [23:45] <Claus> "Got it."
  632. [23:46] <~Paradox> He whips out three tickets. "Tonight, right here, at 8."
  633. [23:46] <Alexis> "I really don't feel like arbitrarily currying for some person's approval just to get my foot in the door."
  634. 06[23:46] * TrickyDick Nudges Alexis Whispering "C'mon, we all need to get badges. So we'll just rock both of these. And be more awesome for it."
  635. [23:47] <Alexis> "Forget being accepted by name alone, and forget "really trying" just to get a challenge, whatever that means."
  636. [23:47] <Alexis> "I'd rather try my luck elsewhere."
  637. 06[23:47] * TrickyDick Shrugs "Something tells me this might be one of the easier times we get a challenge but alright."
  638. [23:48] <~Paradox> "Suit yourself. Here's tickets for the rest of you."
  639. [23:48] <~Paradox> He puts the tickets for Claus, Richard, and Dick on the table.
  640. 06[23:48] * Claus takes his. "My parents used to take me to contests back home...so I guess I'm not unfamiliar with them."
  641. 06[23:49] * TrickyDick Get two tickets arright.
  642. [23:49] <TrickyDick> "Oh good. Can you give us a rundown of how they work? Well like the finer points?"
  643. 06[23:50] * Thomas just continues to frown. "Look, we're all new to this, and he's basically given' us a foot in the door to somethin' here. Ain't no reason to pass him up," he picks up his ticket as well.
  644. [23:51] <~Paradox> "Alright! Well, basically, there'll be three judges. You each take turns, and your pokemon performs a move for the judges!"
  645. [23:52] <~Paradox> "It's all about displaying style, grace, confidence! If your pokemon are well trained, and you can be creative in performing moves ... you'll do golden!"
  646. [23:53] <Alexis> "There's being worthy, and there's playing "Mother May I" for a shot. I'll pass."
  647. [23:54] <TrickyDick> "Alright. I think we can do that. What do you two think?"
  648. [23:56] <Claus> "I doubt it'll be all that hard."
  649. 01[23:57] <Thomas> "Well we can't do shit if we don't get the badges, and he's basically giving us a warm up. I don't see the big deal." He sighs. "As for the contest, I've been involved in...similar things before, a bit different 'rules.' I ain't go no complaints."
  650. [23:58] <~Paradox> "Perfect! I'll see those of you that are willing to try this out at 8, then!"
  651. [23:58] <~Paradox> He opens his book back up.
  652. 06[23:59] * TrickyDick Nods taking his tickets and standing up.
