  1. [19:49] IcePickLobotomy Time: September 3rd, 1988. Location Gibraltar Heights High School Cafeteria
  2. [19:51] IcePickLobotomy Things are back to normal by the time lunch rolls around. People chat and catch up from their summer break, discusses classes, whiel the freshman mill around somewhat awkwardly.
  3. [19:56] IcePickLobotomy Several of them can be seen casting (What they think are) discrete glances your way.
  4. [19:57] Arina politely refrains from meeting them all by the eyes and carries on with things.
  5. [19:59] IcePickLobotomy Hikari glances over at them "Shesh, it's like they've never seen famous people before." She mutters
  6. [20:00] Arina "I suppose they're not used to thinking of it that way."
  7. [20:03] Mary is holding to her glass of water and shivers
  8. [20:04] Arina lays a hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry about it."
  9. [20:05] Mary shakes her head "Its not about them."
  10. [20:09] Arina "Ah..."
  11. [20:10] Mary "And of course the com system had that static error again" she says after a moment
  12. [20:12] Arina 's eyes narrow. "... ah."
  13. [20:14] RobinE "fun," Robin adds sarcastically without looking up from her notebook.
  14. [20:16] Arina "Well, sooner or later they'll work out how to fix it."
  15. [20:17] IcePickLobotomy You hear the distant crackle of static. . . .
  16. [20:18] Arina rubs her temples. "Go away."
  17. [20:18] RobinE continues to write, but starts to hum.
  18. [20:19] IcePickLobotomy It grows louder, you can see bits of static creeping along the walls and across your vision.
  19. [20:20] Mary shivers and looks around with a angry look
  20. [20:21] RobinE closes the notebook and readies herself to get up, looking around cautiously.
  21. [20:21] IcePickLobotomy And then a rumble. THe ground starts to shake, the lights flicker and you hear students screaming, a loud clatter as loose items tumble to the ground. Arina manages to keep her balance, as she dives under the table, followed by Mary and RobinE who more fall into a heap and tangle of limbs, along with Hikari. The ground churns and shakes for what seems like a eternity. Through it all, static...
  22. [20:21] IcePickLobotomy ...hisses and roars.
  23. [20:21] IcePickLobotomy And then it passes. Coach Yang stands up "Alright, is anyone hurt?!"
  24. [20:22] Arina looks out from under the table, frowning and looking for him. "... that..."
  25. [20:22] IcePickLobotomy "oww. . " Hikari rubs her head "banged my head. . . Ooouch. . . Mary? You ok?"
  26. [20:23] IcePickLobotomy Arina: The back of your throat itches. Your mouth dry and parched
  27. [20:23] Arina swallows, looking for him.
  28. [20:23] RobinE clambers to her feet, and goes to find a corner to put her back to.
  29. [20:24] IcePickLobotomy Arina: No sign.
  30. [20:25] Mary "ouch ... I think I am okayish." She shakes her head wozily and checks for bleeding "what about your head hikari?
  31. [20:26] IcePickLobotomy "I've had worse."
  32. [20:26] Arina looks at the others, frowning heavily. "I'm... all right... was that an earthquake, or...?"
  33. [20:28] RobinE "No, no its gotta be that thing," Robins head darts left and right, searching.
  34. [20:29] Arina stands up. "... We need to check in with HQ."
  35. [20:30] RobinE "or at least leave," Robin says as she turns to run out.
  36. [20:31] Arina nods, ducking down to help Mary up and jogging out after her.
  37. [20:32] Mary nods at the others and runs after them " I saw it in the cellar"
  38. [20:35] IcePickLobotomy Yang nods "Phone in my office." She gestures to a nearby door
  39. [20:35] Arina nods. "Thank you." She runs thataway.
  40. [20:37] IcePickLobotomy Yang's office is small. In fact it's a supply closet with a milk crate and a old desk covered in papers. There's also a swimsuit calendar, the Olympic swim team you think. A worn rotary phone is attached to the wall.
  41. [20:38] Arina snags the phone and dials as swiftly as one can with a rotary phone. It isn't /very/ swift, mind you.
  42. [20:38] IcePickLobotomy The phone rings a few moments before it's picked up. "Captain Walker speaking."
  43. [20:39] Arina "Alkaeva. Please tell me that wasn't a footstep."
  44. [20:40] IcePickLobotomy "No, just a earthquake. SCRIVNR's readings are at all time low as a matter of fact."
  45. [20:41] Arina sighs. "/Just/ an earthquake?"
  46. [20:41] IcePickLobotomy "As far as we can tell, yes."
  47. [20:42] IcePickLobotomy She doesn't sound that insistent on the point
  48. [20:42] Arina "Mm."
  49. [20:42] Arina "Since it's topical, do we have any defences /below/ the lure beacon? We've been having more and more of these earthquakes."
  50. [20:43] IcePickLobotomy "We've got some spaces set up beneath it for Outrider deployment, but not much more than that
  51. [20:45] Arina "Well, here's hoping the next Intruder isn't coming up through the crust."
  52. [20:45] Arina "Or planning on hollowing out the bottom and dropping Gibraltar into an underground cavern."
  53. [20:45] Arina is, being Russian, always full of optimism.
  54. [20:45] IcePickLobotomy "To be honest, if it is there's not much we can do to really stop it. Unless it goes into the underground battle-line, such as it is."
  55. [20:46] Arina "Comforting."
  56. [20:51] Mary "There is also the pool" mary throws in from the side
  57. [20:51] IcePickLobotomy "Are you all arlight?"
  58. [20:53] Arina "We're okay. Minor injuries if at all. Though John wasn't with us, so we'll need to find him."
  59. [20:54] IcePickLobotomy "Do that then, ake sure he's ok. If he's injured let me know."
  60. [20:55] Arina nods. "Will do, thank you. Keep us posted, please."
  61. [20:58] Mary stands aside and loosk questiongly at arina
  62. [21:00] Arina "As far as they can tell it's just a natural earthquake."
  63. [21:01] Mary "Well that is .. Gibraltar is not really a earthquake zone..
  64. [21:01] Arina shrugs. "Given the timing I kind of doubt it, but... nothing immediately exploding that we know of, so..."
  65. [21:01] Arina "... Let's find John. Make sure it wasn't chatting with him."
  66. [21:10] Mary is headed on the search for the elusive military john
  67. [21:12] Arina seeks.

  69. [21:15] IcePickLobotomy my PC just got ambushed by a Wairth and attacked for about 3/5ths of his total HP in one hit

  71. [21:29] IcePickLobotomy You find John outside, by the football field. He's wearing camo and has some face paint on, with a paint-ball gun in a sling. Him and about a dozen other boys in similar gear are milling about
  72. [21:30] Arina smiles slightly. "John, everyone okay over there?"
  73. [21:32] JohnH A smile crosses his face as he sees that the others, one specifically, are okay
  74. [21:32] JohnH "We're good. The earthquake couldn't find us out here."
  75. [21:33] Mary "....Men.."
  76. [21:33] Arina giggles. "I'm not sure that's /quite/ how earthquakes work."
  77. [21:34] JohnH "I don't know how earthquakes work. That's above my paygrade."
  78. [21:36] Arina chuckles. "Anyway, the earthquake /wasn't/ a harbinger of impending Intruder arrival, so everything's clear-ish."
  79. [21:37] Arina "... I'm getting a little paranoid I suppose."
  80. [21:37] JohnH nods "Earthquakes are kind of a thing that happens, so I suppose I wasn't sure what to think. But its good to know we're safe for now."
  81. [21:39] Arina "It's... mm... this is the second one and I'm not sure it's natural but HQ doesn't think anything's wrong, at least."
  82. [21:40] JohnH "pff, what do they know."
  83. [21:41] Mary "Lets look for robin then"
  84. [21:42] JohnH packs his paintball gear into the nearest receptacle, and bids his buddies farewell
  85. [21:45] Arina "Robin was okay, she just headed out already."
  86. [21:57] Mary "Yes its just the question where she is now ..And why the thing awaited me in the cellar."
  87. [22:02] Arina frowns. "Was it looking at you or for you? Or was it doing something else? There was that burst of static with the earthquake again..."
  88. [22:02] Mary "It shut down the light and I ws down there because I ran there with..the wall"
  89. [22:05] Arina "Ah..."
  90. [22:06] Arina "I... guess you didn't want the reminder."
  91. [22:08] Mary "No.. and . then yeah it was down there taunting there with its move and the light and.."
  92. [22:08] Mary shivers
  93. [22:09] Arina claps her hands. "Let's not think about it, then."

  96. [22:17] Arina "I don't really think there needs to be, the one already here is honestly close enough..."

  99. [22:28] Arina "The static certainly leaves it a possibility... John, what do you think?"
  100. [22:29] JohnH "I think that we shouldn't worry unless they tell us to. Last time we went spelunking, we nearly died."
  101. [22:32] Arina "Yeah no I wouldn't go down there without a hazmat suit."
  102. [22:34] JohnH "I think we should just stay sharp, continue training, and be ready."
  103. [22:38] Arina sighs, running a hand through her hair. "I don't know if it's that simple, though it'd be nice..."
  104. [22:41] Mary "On that note, We have some things to talk aboiut.."
