The Beginnings of magical politics:

Magic is a gift. You are able to use it to solve problems by an easier way than doing it with your hands. But it also means that you need to take responsibility. This is the main task of the Ministry of Magic. It is the Government of the Magical society of Britain. There are certain Ministries around the world, for example in Bulgaria or Germany. It takes the charge of creating laws, punishing criminals and that the Muggles don't know about magic or be abused by magic.

The history of the Ministry starts to exist in 1707. It was formed by the Wizard's Council, that already acted as a pre-form of a government. Due to the fact, that it is not recorded, it is unknown, when the Wizard's Council was founded. But we know that it may took place in the 8th century AD.

The head of the Council had the title Chief. The first recorded Chief was Baberus Bragge in the 13th century, who was said to release a snidged at a Cuaditch match (the pre-form of Quidditch) and offered hundred and fifty Galleons to the player who catch it. Thus we can fix, it exist longer than 800 years.

The Council consisted of wizards and witches for a long time. But soon there came up a debate about magical beings and beasts. The Chief of the Wizard's Council Burdock Muldoon (1429-1499 AD.) took the try and invited representatives of all magical creatures to a meeting of the Council, that walk on two legs. The meeting fell into chaos. It got disrupted by Pixies and Fairies, Diricawls and Augureys and more. The trolls in their simple way to think, started to destroy the meeting chamber, looking for someone to eat.  In consequence Mudloon stoped trying to integrate any non-wizard members of the magical community except intelligent humanuids, such as goblins.

The first recorded dispute of law and order in the history took place in the 1340's. The wizard Nicholas Malfoy was accused of killing Muggle- tenants and concealing the deaths by pretending, that it was the plague, also known as Black Death. The Council had to decide if he needed to be punished or not. The result: no punishment.

The proof, that also the Wizard's Council took charge of secrecy and Quidditch as sport of the British nation, is recorded in a law from 1362, that made it illegal to play Quidditch inbetween within fifty miles of a Muggle-town. Six years later this law got changed: playing Quidditch was banned within hundred miles of a Muggle-town. This also points to a worsening of the conflicts between wizards and muggles .

In 1707, after the magical community agreed to hide in the underground, the Ministry of Magic was founded. By this step the wizard world got a clearly structured government to organize the society. It also is the exicutive and judiciary instance of magical law. Thus it controls Azkaban, the prison for wizards and witches.

Today the Ministry of Magic is the main enployer on the magical society of Great Britain. It's history and problems in the past are mostly the base for the laws we have today.
