それが、帝国暦〇（ゼロ）年の物語。
Year 0 of the Imperial Calendar.
それは、後に第三銀河帝国の始まりとなるだけど、その頃の私達は、もちろんそんな事、想像していなかった。
This would be later known as the year the Third Galactic Empire began, but it goes without saying that we never could have imagined that at the time.
あれから、世界は大混乱になった。疑心暗鬼になった人々は世界中でマギウスを探し合い、ついには一〇一人評議会も、マギウスの存在を隠しきれなくなった。
Afterwards, pandemonium broke out across the world. Seeing monsters everywhere, people sought out Magius all over the world and eventually neither the Council of the Hundred and One nor the the existence of Magius could remain hidden.
世界はもう、隠し事をするには繋がりすぎてたんだと思う。
I think it was because the world had become too connected for secrets to be kept.
マギウスリスト、なんていう胡散臭いものが出回って、多くのマギウスが殺された。その中には、この機に乗じてマギウスとして殺された、誰かにとっての邪魔者となる人間も多く含まれてるだろう。
A very suspicious thing called "Magius List" appeared and a lot of Magius has been killed. In the midst of all this, many used this opportunity to kill people whom they considered as nuisance.

During this time, the Royalist started one coup d'etat after the other. I heard that L-elf ended up working alongside A-drei in these.
あの後、世界は大きく三つに分かれた。
After all that, the world has been divided into three.
ＡＲＵＳを中心としたマギウス達を排斥して人間だけの世界を取り戻そうという、人類派
First were the humans with ARUS who is focused on driving out the Magius with the intention of turning back to world just for them.
それから逃げながら世界のどこかに隠れ潜む、多くのマギイスと一〇一人評議会の生き残り達。不老不死を求めた、一部の馬鹿な人間達。
Then the remnants of the Magius and the Council of the Hundred and One who have escaped and hid themselves from the world. With them are idiots who seek immortality.
そして、モジュール７７で人間とマギウス両者の共存の道を探る、ごく少数のマギウス、と私達。
Finally, us and the few of Magius who wishes for everyone to live alongside each other.
当然ながら、人間とマギウスの蜜月は崩れ、母星へ帰還を望んでいたマギウス達の技術が失われた事で、人類の宇宙開発は大幅な停滞を見せる事となった。
With the relationship between humans and Magius falling apart, the latter who wishes to go back to their planet but can't due to losing the technological means to do so have been forced to watch as the former's space development came to a screeching halt.
王党派に協力をしてた、人間との共存を願うマギウスはリゼロッテさんだけじゃなかったらしく、紆余曲折の末、私達はそのマギウス達をモジュール７７に迎え入れる事が出来た。
It seems that Lieselotte wasn't the only Magius who wished to live alongside with humans and has been helping the Royalists. Despite the number of setbacks, we welcomed them into Module 77.
そして、二人三脚でマギウス達の母星を探すために研究、開発を続けたこの二〇〇年の間に渡したいの住む銀河系より古く、なおかつ知的生命体の存在する銀河系を二つも見つけた。
Working together to find the home planet of the Magius, research and development continued this past two hundered years. Also, two more intelligent lifeforms older than the Milky Way have been found.
その内の片方、第一銀河に、マギウス達の母星はあるという。
The First Galactic empire would then be the home planet of the Magius.
まだそこまで行ける船は、残念ながら造れていないのだけど、たまにかつてマギウス達のように向こうからやってくる種族がいて、私達は多くの接近遭遇を果たす事になる。
While there hasn't been a spaceship made that could travel there, we have made many contacts with being similar to the Magius that is said to come from the same place.
もちろんその中には、友好的な種族もいれば、極めて好戦的な種族もいたりするんだけど。
While there are amicable beings, there also very hostile ones.

そんな感じで私達は、友達を増やしたり、敵を増やしたり、けんかの仲裁をしたりしながら、この国で生きている。
Like that, amidst of making friends, making enemies and mediating between strifes, our country continued living.

とにかく、私達は居場所を手に入れた。
In any case, we found ourselves a place to call home.




「その小さな国が、僕らの銀河帝国になったの？」
"Our Galactic Empire started from such a tiny country?"
「歴史の始まりって、案外そんなものなのよ」
"Historical beginnings are often suprisingly humble."
「ふーん」
"Oh."
我が帝国の小さな王子様は、よく分からない、と言うように口を尖らせて天井を見上げる。
With the look of puzzelement, the young prince of our Empire pouted as he looked up to the ceiling.
私とサキちゃんはついつい顔を見合わせて笑う。
Saki and I unintentionally look at each other and smiled.
「た、大変です！」
"T-There's an emergency!"
そこに、慌ててドアを開けて入ってくるいつも騒がしい顔。
A familiar noisy face appeared as he entered the room in haste.
なんだか年々、お兄ちゃんに似てきている。私は今までもたまに、間違えて「お兄ちゃん」と呼んでいまそうになる時がある。
As time passes by, he resembles my brother more and more. There are times that I call him 'Onii-chan' by accident.
「メモリアル・コアに侵入者です！第五三年命体と思われます！」
"There's an intruder in the Memorial Core! It's supposed to be Lifeform 53s!"
五三って事は・・・・・・第二銀河のクリスタル星人か。
Lifeform 53, huh. So, they're the Crystallians from the Second Galactic Empire.

「サキちゃん、メモリアル・コアって、今・・・・・・」
"Saki-chan. Right now, at the Memorial Core..."
「えぇ。いるわね、あの人が」
"Yes. She's right there."
「え・・・・・」
"What?"
お兄ちゃんそっくりのその顔がぽかんと口を開ける。
The one resembling my brother has his mouth left open.
うん、まぁ、だから・・・・・・大丈夫なんじゃ、ないかな？
Oh well... I guess it would be just fine.




メモリアル・コア。
The Memorial Core.
ちょっと前、よそからのお客さんに壊されちゃった壁の穴から、太陽の光が差し込んでいる。
The sunlight enters the room from the hole in the wall that a visitor made not too long ago.
これはこれでいい感じ、という極めてアバウトな理由で、ここの壁は修復されないままだ。結構のどかで並んで銅像を眺めるのが、私の日課。
The reason behind not repairing the wall is that this seems better, more or less. And looking at the bronze statues lined up here is part of my daily routine.
結構のどかでのんびり出来る場所だし、ぽかぽかあったかい。
This is where I can take off my mind and releax. A warm and nice place.
それに何より、この奥にはー
After all, here lies---
突然、入り口が開いて、奇妙なお客さんが入ってきた。
All of a sudden, strange visitors entered the room.
見た目を説明するなら、うーん、なんだろう・・・・・・　人間の形をした、人間大を緑色のクリオネ、みたいな・・・・・？
To describe what I've seen, well... umm... I guess they look like human-sized greenish cliones.

「秘密兵器でもあると思ってた？」
"What were you expecting, a secret weapon?"
気さくに声をかけながら近寄ってみる。びっくりさせちゃったのか、武器なんて捕まえちゃって。そういうの、楽しくないよ？
I joked as I tried to reached out to them. Did that caught them off-guard? Did they really want get their hands on a weapon? That's no fun, not one bit.
「これはね、始まりの騎士っていう、英雄の像。この国を作る時に死んでいった、私の大切な友達なの」
"These are the statue of the heroes we call 'The First Knights'. People who were dear to me who died one by one when we founded this country."
当然ながら、言葉なんて通じないと思うから、きっとこの子達、ぽかーんしてるんだろうな。表情は分からないけど、体の仕草とかでなんとなく分かる。
I think that they just absent-mindedly stood there because, naturally, they don't understand the words I'm saying. While I don't recognize their expressions, I understood it with their body movements.
だから、けんかなんてやめよう？
So, please, let's not fight here.
「私達、仲良くしましょう」
"Let's try to be friends."
せめてこの言葉だけでもいい。この宇宙のどこでも通じる言い方があればいいのに。
Using these words would have been just fine. It'd be really nice if there's a single way to express this to any parts of the galaxy.
「それで全てが解決するなんて言わないけど・・・・・・」
"I won't pretend that that will suddenly solve everything."
私は、向けられた武器に対して、手のひらを差し出す。
Even though they were pointing their weapons at me, I extended my hand.
「そうしたら、痛みも喜びも、半分こに出来るから」
"But if we do, we'll be able to share in half our pain and joy."
私達は弱いから、時に辛せすら重く感じてしまう事がある。
Because all of us are weak, there are times that we are overwhelmed with what we feel.
だから、半分こ。
Which is why the need for sharing.
風がふき、私の髪を揺らしていく。
A wind blew and brushed aside my hair.
私が差し出した手のひらを、その子達がただ、じっと見つめている。
They were just standing there and looking at me with my hand reaching out to them.

メモリアル・コアの奥。
Inside the Memorial Core.
無人のコックピット内で、コンソールモニターの電源が勝手に入る。続いて全力位スクリーンにたくさんの写真が表示写られる。仲のよさしょうな人達が、楽しそうにしている写真。
The monitor of the console inside the empty cockpit suddenly switched on by itself. Displayed on it were a lot of pictures. Pictures of people who seemed to get along with each other and enjoying themselves.
一枚一枚切り替わりながら。まるで誰かが、想い出を懐かしんでいるように。そのコンソールモニタの中には、一文が表示されている。
Said pictures were shuffled from one into another. It's like someone going through their memoires and reminiscing. In the middle of it was one single sentence.
