Science of Shadows - Log #5

(1:24:01 PM) Charun: After the workman leaves carl takes you on a tour of the house then takes you down to the secure room to show you the master control panel.  You notice along the way that the bookcase door to the sub basement has had a much heavier steel door installed on the back of the bookcase
(1:30:15 PM) Charun: When you get downstairs you are suprised to see a lot of changes.  You now have two large reinforced operating tables (werewolves weigh a lot) complete with overhead lights and new track partitions to close off the operating theater area.  Carl also informs you that you have a new air system installed for positive pressure down here to keep out any contaminats.  The new control station is actually a desk you can sit at
(1:30:51 PM) Charun: He invites you to sit down and begins showing you  the system.  Cameras sometimes more than one in every room.  Every room has a mic as well.
(1:31:38 PM) SeianVerian: "Impressive..." I sit down and start looking. "I feel like I should have a security officer sitting down here or something."
(1:34:02 PM) Charun: Carl "I can understand that but from here or your bedroom you can unlock doors, monitor the outside of the home, you have complete thermal and uv camera coverage outside which may or maynot help with a vamp"
(1:35:22 PM) Charun: Carl "this is the true master console here, if you are using this one it locks out every other keypad or console in the house"
(1:36:35 PM) SeianVerian: "Ah, I see. I suppose a man's home is his castle, and this is to be my fortress..." A slight chuckle, though without really much to it. "I guess I really am getting into something that I'll need this..."
(1:45:52 PM) Charun: Carl "well with vamps possibly in your future you will need to understand that their body temp is dependant on how long it has been since they have fed."
(1:46:21 PM) Charun: Carl "a vamp who hasnt eaten in a couple of days is basically room temperature"
(1:46:59 PM) SeianVerian: "Ah, I see... And a newly fed one would be full body temperature? Or just slightly less?"
(1:47:02 PM) Charun: Carl " he wont show up any different that everything around him, but a vamp who just ate will look human on IR"
(1:47:14 PM) Charun: Carl "exactly"
(1:48:00 PM) Charun: Carl "so make sure you check ir and UV outside dont depend on the IR only"
(1:48:57 PM) SeianVerian: "Alright. ...Would there maybe be an intercom of some sort to let me ask their business without actually needing to go to the door?"
(1:49:48 PM) Charun: Carl "Also you have ultrasonic movement sensors outside that can pick up vamps moving too fast to see ....... under the right conditions!"  "oh yes right here " and he shows you how to look at the door cams and activate the mic and speak to anyone at the outer gate or front door.
(1:51:17 PM) SeianVerian: "Ah, perfect. Seems like all the bases are covered... About the only thing missing is retractable machine guns that'll shoot intruders." A slight laugh, and then a pause. "...There ISN'T anything like that here, is there?"
(1:54:56 PM) Charun:  Carl looks kind of chagrined..."well there is stun gas for normals that can be dispensed here" Points to a button  "that will fill the entire first floor of your home in 1.2 seconds and have them out cold in 3.   This button does that to the entire house except for this room " points to another covered button "those will not harm your animals just knock them out.  This last one is only a last resort"
(1:55:31 PM) Charun: Carl "this one activates 4 charges in the walls of the room above and will fill the room with flechettes killing just about anything"
(1:56:03 PM) Charun: Carl "Yeah that one would require a complete rebuild of your basement room"
(1:56:27 PM) Charun: "Very messy but hopefully you will never need to use it.
(1:56:36 PM) SeianVerian: "I will... Pretty much do everything I can to not use that. I'll only use it if I can't hold off and call for help..."
(1:57:08 PM) Charun: Carl "yeah that is for the Ive called for help they are not here yet and are forcing the door
(1:58:09 PM) SeianVerian: "Right... Well, is that everything?"
(1:59:47 PM) Charun: Carl "pretty much we also put in a food refrig and freezer down here seperate water lines from the street and a 1000gal holding tank in case of disruptions.  You have the 5000gal fuel tank in the back yard to keep your generator running for up to a month and enough dried and flash frozen food here to hold out for quite a while."
(2:00:13 PM) Charun: Carl "and here is the small kitchenette we put in so you can cook down here if you need to "
(2:01:01 PM) SeianVerian: "Right. Well, at least now I know where to hide in case of apocalypse."
(2:01:09 PM) Charun: "We tried to equip it to hold you and at least 5 others in case of an emergency"  "Especially if you had any patients at the time."
(2:02:33 PM) SeianVerian: "Ah yes, that could be important... I wouldn't want to be stuck here alone at the end of the world. ...And maybe I should just stop making these comments."
(2:02:39 PM) Charun: Well if this spills out into open  war as daniel is afraid it might you may need this area!"    "He is meeting tonight with the representative of the vamps to work out a deal"
(2:03:56 PM) SeianVerian: "I hope it goes well... Open war would probably have far too many casualties. I shudder to think of the collateral damage too..."
(2:05:24 PM) Charun: Carl" The collateral damage is the worst!  The number of innocents would be horrendus"
(2:08:32 PM) SeianVerian: "I have a feeling this won't end well regardless of the decision made though... Those... Cultists, or whatever they were that attacked us. They're probably not going to back down just because of any sort of official decision between factions, are they?"
(2:32:23 PM) Charun: Carl "probably not but you never know the prince of a city can do a lot if he is willing to put the effort into it."
(2:35:43 PM) SeianVerian: "Hopefully he's willing to put that effort... Whether realized or not, I could imagine that more casualties with stuff like this will mean more difficulty for non-humans to integrate once they're revealed."
(2:36:30 PM) Charun: "Exactly what daniel is worried about although he has brought in a few ringers to help the situation if need be"
(2:37:29 PM) SeianVerian: "Ringers?"
(2:42:56 PM) Charun: Carl "over the past few months he has kind of back loaded the fire and police departments with special imports from around the US"
(2:43:59 PM) SeianVerian: "...How long have the problems in this area been escalating again? Did he see this coming?"
(2:44:55 PM) Charun: "For about 18 months!"
(2:45:41 PM) SeianVerian: "...Oh. Well. Guess I picked a... If not bad, then very interesting time to start finding out about all this."
(2:46:13 PM) SeianVerian: "Granted, I didn't actually pick the time for ESPR to get involved but- I'm going to stop babbling."
