- A Blackmans Struggle
- Tell me how do I face what I saw?
- A man losing his life has me in like awe.
- I don't know how to process these feelings,
- I almost feel lost, like a man staring at ceilings.
- They treat us as if our life is worth a piece of lent,
- But you Lord said we are heaven sent.
- My black skin is not a curse that I am trapped in,
- It's a reflection of your glory that I'm wrapped in.
- Father why do people hate us so,
- And it seems like the hatred in their heart they won't let it go.
- How do I protect myself when all I see is hate,
- I can gently hear you whisper wait.
- The world may hate you but I love you the way you are,
- I see your skin as a jewel not a scar.
- I know it's hard the things that you face,
- But I promise not to leave you alone in this place.
- I know how you feel I share your pain,
- And I know how it feels to have people look at you with disdain.
- When I hung on the cross they mocked me and treated me with scorn,
- All so I could see you with my glory adorn.
- So when the world treats you with contempt,
- Know that from these things I wasn't exempt.
- You can always tell me how you feel,
- I will be here to reassure you that my love for you is real.
