  9. [2015-03-11 13:30:38] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Bookwright hears a voice hiss softly from above. "You saw me where I never was and where I could not be. And yet within that very place, my face you often see."

  11. [2015-03-11 13:30:54] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The baby sphinx smiles down at Bookwright from atop a bookshelf. "Reflections are not what you see, they are merely pretend. Much better seen within a mirror than within a friend." The little spirit turns and disappears over the other side.
  12. [2015-03-11 13:30:59] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Bookwright frowns upward, mind working. "You know, that's a pretty cryptic way of saying that I should watch out for people who are only pretending to like me."

  14. [2015-03-11 13:31:16] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Gundi_Kifalme nods to Noble_Heart. "Very well, then. You will need to choose company colors and a flag, and mark your ship appropriately." He points towards the other ships, each of which are painted entirely in two or three colors and bear some sort of pirate flag or symbol.
  15. [2015-03-11 13:31:22] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Gundi_Kifalme warns, "Make sure your colors and flag are extremely visible. You would not wish to be shot down or become prey for other pirates because you are mistaken for an Imperial ship."
  16. [2015-03-11 13:31:40] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Noble_Heart frowns and nods her head. That was a wrinkle she hadn't really specifically planned for. She'd have to talk to the others about that. "We shall make the appropriate preparations once Our companions return from their trading trip."

I would recommend shopping where the Wameli have influence, or at establishments marked with the Council's neutrality... at least until you are established."

  21. [2015-03-11 13:32:44] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Noble_Heart nods her head. "It would be in bad manner to hold the sins of the past against those who still live. And truly unfair to those who had no hoof in their own creation." She smiles. "Hopefully the zebras will be understanding as well."
  22. [2015-03-11 13:32:51] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Gundi_Kifalme nods. "Oh, that you don't have to worry about. We don't hold the living responsible for the actions of the long dead. Line of responsibility and duty flow forward, not backwards. Even without New Roam demonizing everything associated with the past empire, you wouldn't need to fear that."

  24. [2015-03-11 13:33:33] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Jugeote smiles to Shatara. "Looks like Council has word of the Goblet... as does everyone else." As if on cue, a teeth-hurting grinding sound echoes through Tres as the silo doors swing shut.
  25. [2015-03-11 13:33:42] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Shatara is about to ask her what is going on, when the overpowering screech of metal drowns out everything.
  26. [2015-03-11 13:33:49] <Mare-Do-Well> 3CopyCat giggles at Mwana. "I was just curious." Then she continues a little more quietly. "Like you may be interested in how Goldie taste~" Her words are cut short by the screech of metal from above.
  27. [2015-03-11 13:33:57] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Jugeote rolls her eyes. "I was waiting for that." To Shatara, "We're sealed in now. I'm sure they're closing the others up too, just to make sure. Some families don't trust the Wameli not to run off with the Griffin's Goblet and leave without them."

  31. [2015-03-11 13:35:25] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Noble_Heart frowns. "We suspect that there is a war coming. Depending on what conditions there are on the use of that goblet. There are a great many zebras here seeking a place to flee to. If the goblet is like the amulet and requires a sacrifice to power it based on how powerful what it is trying to do is..."

  37. [2015-03-11 13:37:52] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Several days pass before the great, grinding sound again fills The Silos and the heavy doors swing upwards to reveal fresh, sun-filled air.
  38. [2015-03-11 13:39:39] <Mare-Do-Well> 3For the last several days, the ponies have had gawkers and stalkers. The mixture of curiosity and fear with which the zebras have reacted to a pony presence in their home has not significantly diminished since their arrival.

[2015-03-11 13:41:28] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The reaction has made efforts strained and difficult at times, but for every zebra who shuts her windows and bars her door at the sight of ponies approaching, there are two more who press them wanting to be the one to sell their wares to a pony, or wanting to know what it feels like to not have stripes.

  43. [2015-03-11 13:46:51] * Bookwright has been spending the days reading trying to get his hooves on every remotely interesting book in Equestrian he can find. Which is vanishingly few.
  44. [2015-03-11 13:48:48] * Shatara finds some stalkers with CopyCat. "Get out of here stalker"
  45. [2015-03-11 14:02:55] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Books in Equestrian tend to be from Equestria. Books like the Daring Do series, or books-based-on-a-movie.
  46. [2015-03-11 14:09:00] * Golden_Dream , meanwhile, approaches Shatara. "Hey! Shatara. You pick who yer' gonna have dinner with yet?"
  47. [2015-03-11 14:09:30] * Shatara eeps, blushes, and fidgets some.
  48. [2015-03-11 14:12:30] * Golden_Dream boops Shatara on the nose. "C'mon. Went through a zebra crowd t' get some'a this, least y' could do is tell me if they eat meat 'r not."
  49. [2015-03-11 14:13:29] * Shatara tilts his head at Golden_Dream, slightly more confused than usual.
  50. [2015-03-11 14:14:23] * CopyCat pops out of the woodwork. "Or have you decided who you're going to have for dinner, Shatara?"
  51. [2015-03-11 14:14:46] * Bookwright grumbles back onto the ship. "Who in the wide world of... er. Um. Anyways, who would ever think it a good idea to make a book out of a movie that was made from a book that was written from a movie that was originally a book? This pulp is only holds value as campfire fuel!"
  52. [2015-03-11 14:16:35] * Golden_Dream 's ears flatten up against her head. "Remember when we was back in th' cliff face in th' jungle, and you were wantin' t' take someone out t' eat, and I said that I'd cook fer' you when we came t' town next? Well, we're in a town. I have a feelin' somethin' bad's gonna happen soon, but somethin' big's /always/ happening around us."
  53. [2015-03-11 14:16:36] * Get_Lost is still drawing like a crazy mare into the captain's quarters. she's been less chatty than usual and a lot more laughing like a madmare.

  55. [2015-03-11 14:17:26] * Shatara nods to Golden_Dream, and does his best to push away the images of CopyCat, Get_Lost, and Jugeote basting each other in barbecue sauce.

  57. [2015-03-11 14:22:09] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Several pirate airships took off within the first hour of the doors opening. There is a sense that things might be returning to normal, but a tension still fills the air. There has been no further word from the Council. No hint of what resolution, if any, was found to the fears surrounding the Wameli pirates and the Griffin's Goblet.
  58. [2015-03-11 14:27:16] <Mare-Do-Well> 3One of the crew of the /Cutlass/ comes to the dock beside the /Rainbow Connection/ and calls up to Jugeote. She nods, then turns to Shatara. "I have to go back to the /Cutlass/ for a bit." She pauses, then adds, "I should take Mwana too."
  59. [2015-03-11 14:30:25] * CopyCat shakes her head to clear it. She could practically taste the bbq. "Do you think it strange that there's been no word from the council?"
  60. [2015-03-11 14:32:19] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Jugeote trots over to Mwana and says something to hims softly. He nods, and then turns and waves at Golden_Dream. "I should be back. Company meeting."
  61. [2015-03-11 14:34:14] * Golden_Dream 's face sinks a little. "If you want I should sneak in and check it out, I will. But I find th' less I care about what a bunch'a old fat folk with delusions of grandeur think, th' happier I start bein'." She waves back at Mwana, lingering on him for a while. You're not going to see him ever again soon. That took the smile off her face in a hurry.
  62. [2015-03-11 14:35:23] * Shatara waves a little as Jugeote leaves.
  63. [2015-03-11 14:40:58] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Jugeote flicks her tail at Shatara and smiles. Then they are off the ship and soon boarding the /Cutlass?
  64. [2015-03-11 14:42:28] <Mare-Do-Well> 3A zebra with a peg leg approaches from the upper ring of the docks as soon as the two zebras depart.
  65. [2015-03-11 14:43:33] * CopyCat waves cheerily to the peg-legged zebra. "Hello!"
  66. [2015-03-11 14:44:32] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The zebra waves her pegleg back. As she gets close enough, she calls out in griffin, "Dockmaster sent me. Permission to come aboard? Need a word with your Captain."
  67. [2015-03-11 14:46:23] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Word has clearly gotten around that speaking to the pony pirates requires someone fluent in griffin. On the plus side, the whole experience is helping Shatara grow steadily more fluent in the griffin fancy.
  68. [2015-03-11 14:47:41] * Shatara calls back to the peggystripeypone to come aboard.
  69. [2015-03-11 14:51:07] * Golden_Dream looks around. "Erm. Sure. What can we do fer' y'?
  70. [2015-03-11 14:51:39] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The zebra boards. "Take me to your leader," she ways with a slight smile.
  71. [2015-03-11 14:55:57] * Golden_Dream quirks her head. "Errr. Right." She looks over. "Hey! Noble, c'mere, we got someone on board. I dunno what they want, but if th' pattern holds, guessin' it involves you."
  72. [2015-03-11 14:57:13] * Noble_Heart stepped up from below the decks, somewhere in the intervening few days she'd found a rather fancy looking hat. Apparently she was a strong believer in the importance of airship pirate fashion. She stepped forwards towards the zebra. "We are the captain of this vessel."
  73. [2015-03-11 14:59:12] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The peg-legged zebra introduces himself, "Malipo. Honored t' meet you, Captain. Feel ready to cut yer teeth on some real piracy?"
  74. [2015-03-11 15:05:06] * CopyCat straightens up and tries her best to look like a first mate. She succeeds on her second attempt and salutes Noble_Heart for added captain-ness. "Aye aye, Captain!"

  76. [2015-03-11 15:06:14] * Noble_Heart looks down at the zebra curiously. "Well, We suppose that depends upon what you qualify as real piracy." She smiles slightly. "There are certainly plenty who have things they do not deserve and could stand to be without them."
  77. [2015-03-11 15:07:14] * Get_Lost is somehoe orbiting the trio. even if she has no eyes, it is absolutely clear that she's staring at the pegleg. it is also evident that she will do something very stupid sooner or later. but for now she's trying really hard to resist the urge to offer free cybersurgery
  78. [2015-03-11 15:09:07] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Malipo continues, "Imperials got some ships in the air uncomfortably close t' The Silos. Lookin' for yer ship, I suspect. Your engineer found that transmitter and disabled it before they could get a proper fix, so they're salting the skies."
  79. [2015-03-11 15:10:24] * Get_Lost free, mandatory cybersurgery. peg leg... pegleg... peeeeg...leeeg....
  80. [2015-03-11 15:11:30] <Mare-Do-Well> 3"Some of the families are clustering ships defensively far enough away to draw their attention, make them focus on the wrong part o' the forest. But there might be stragglers... captains who think to check away from the cluster of brightly-colored pirate ships. Care t' go huntin'?"
  81. [2015-03-11 15:12:36] * Noble_Heart contemplates that. "We think We can find that prospect agreeable, yes. This ship is hardly fit for heavy battle as is. But it should be fine for some light hunting."
  82. [2015-03-11 15:12:37] * Golden_Dream scoffs. "Th' fuck're we gonna do? We've got a shuttle with barely any fuckin' armament equipped and all of one warhead t' take an engine out with. Th' moment we get up there, we're gonna be lit up like a fuckin' match."
  83. [2015-03-11 15:13:29] * Get_Lost is a little less than a muzzle distance from the pirate's missing leg, still not talking, maybe a little vreepy
  84. [2015-03-11 15:13:34] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Malipo suggests, "Try takin' out something with some big guns, if you can. You could use the upgrade."
  85. [2015-03-11 15:14:22] * Mare-Do-Well 3looks down and inches away from Get_Lost.

  92. [2015-03-11 15:16:53] * Get_Lost the last two words sound dangerous. from the solaris mare's mouth, they sound a little like a promise of rusted chainsaw
  93. [2015-03-11 15:18:42] * Bookwright "Get, why don't you, er, get lost? You're scaring our guest."
  94. [2015-03-11 15:20:19] * Shatara nods, pondering the airships armament, or lack therof
  95. [2015-03-11 15:20:30] * Noble_Heart chuckles slightly. "Get Lost is very... Intimate with her love of medicine and unusual proceedures." She contemplates that. "We agree on the front of weapons. Though defeating something well armed may be difficult. It shall be a proper challenge."
  96. [2015-03-11 15:20:44] * CopyCat bites Get_Lost's tail and drags her away. Perhaps sensually, depending on how much Get liked her tail getting pulled.
  97. [2015-03-11 15:22:16] * Get_Lost likes being pulled away at least enough to not oppose any resistence, she only calls out at the pirate "think about it! spider legs are SO MUCH BETTER!"
  98. [2015-03-11 15:26:23] * Bookwright slides Get_Lost back gently with telekinesis and smiles nervously. "Only for spiders. Only for spiders are they better."
  99. [2015-03-11 15:27:06] * Golden_Dream looks up. "Alright, I got a plan. I got this here warhead. We can put this here warhead in th' engine block of a ship and set it t' blow when we leave. Airships can't fly without engines, right? So they'd be stuck, and then we jus' shoot up their balloons until they hit dirt. Sound good?"
  100. [2015-03-11 15:30:35] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Malipo isn't sure whether she is alarmed or thankful that she doesn't understand pony speech. Get_Lost is creepy.
  101. [2015-03-11 15:31:25] * Get_Lost is taken away, goes back drawing and dreaming of roaring turbofans and skyrocketing dropships
  102. [2015-03-11 15:32:05] <Mare-Do-Well> 3She nods to Captain Noble_Heart. Message delivered, she gives a little bow and a "By yer leave?" before departing.
  103. [2015-03-11 15:34:35] * Noble_Heart nods her head in a brief bow. She contemplates this. "We believe that the bomb may be best used teleported amongst Our enemies." she taps her chin thoughtfully. "Beyond that We are unsure. This is an area We have little experience with, after all."
  104. [2015-03-11 15:35:47] * Golden_Dream 's ears shoot up. "... Hey, Shatara. You know a buncha' shit about these here airships, right? Includin' where th' engines are?"
  105. [2015-03-11 15:36:14] * Shatara nods a little. "I think?"
  106. [2015-03-11 15:50:20] * Golden_Dream gets an eeeeeevil look. A scary look. "Shatara, I think you dun' saved our hides. I'm gonna go grab some powder from th' shops t' make int' bombs. Yer' gonna do some readin' on where engines are on Zebra airships. Got it?"
  107. [2015-03-11 15:53:08] * Shatara nods to her, and ponders where to get technical drawings.
  108. [2015-03-11 15:53:38] * Noble_Heart blinks and frowns slightly. This was quickly turning into a complex plan. Which was alright in itself. But perhaps not so much in practice.
  109. [2015-03-11 15:54:23] * Bookwright "I think this whole bomb teleportation thing is silly. Maybe we should just have Noble Heart do her trick with fire again?"
  110. [2015-03-11 15:56:46] * Noble_Heart tilts her head to one side. "We could. Though it requires getting fairly close to the ship. And is quite stressful."
  111. [2015-03-11 15:59:57] * Golden_Dream rubs the back of her neck. "And these folk ain't gon' be surprised t' see us. They're gon' open fire on us right when th' shootin's good."
  112. [2015-03-11 16:09:31] * Bookwright "Very true. This airship is clearly a pirate. Hmm. Golden, I think we could use that mortar from our own ship to shell enemy ships. Granted we'd be hitting the balloons, but... They don't go that fast. It'll work! Which means we need more grenades."
  113. [2015-03-11 16:17:17] * Mare-Do-Well 3floats close. "Hey, want me to scout around up there?" She's been reclusive the last few days, not straying from the ship, spending most of her time floating silently somewhere behind Get_Lost.

  115. [2015-03-11 16:21:47] <Mare-Do-Well> 3From somewhere below, the smell of cooked rat mixes with the scent of light oil.
