Ryuji is a transfer student and classmate of the protagonist and Anne Takamaki who joins them in their heists. Ryuji is regarded as a juvenile delinquent in the school for incidents involving verbal and physical violence. He appears to be the first to discover and enter the Palace alongside the protagonist. His relationship with the protagonist is that of a "bad influence". He helps start the Phantom Thieves of Hearts alongside the protagonist. He wishes to reform society and make their names infamous around the world.

Ryuji is described as a 'delinquent' and a 'bad influence' on the protagonist, and seems to have the motive of reforming society in some way and making the names of the Phantom Thieves infamous around the world. <br><br>
<b><u>HEADCANON</b></u> <br><br>
Ryuji tends to be violent and threatening towards strangers. However, around his friends and partners, he seems to retain only a small bit of his violent nature, instead putting on a cheerful and somewhat playful persona. Like most guys his age, he's a bit of a flirt, but he's more confident than most due to having lost his virginity to a gyaru at 15, and being sexually active since then. Ryuji most often walks everywhere, and doesn't really care for his fashion on off days, or living conditions for that matter. His face is recognizable in his neighborhood, and so people don't question what he does in fear of getting beaten. Highly loyal and somewhat protective, the delinquent is honest with himself and others, and would never betray any of his friends or fellow thieves.
