  1. One warm day, I woke up in bed to find the birds singing their songs, and the bright warm sunshine in my face. What a great day to go to the fair, I thought. Today I was going to the fair with my parents, and my best friend forever (BFF) Jaclyn. We were going to have so much fun! The fair was 87 miles away from home, so about an hour and a half. First, we had to pack our yummy picnic lunch. After I got dressed, I ran downstairs to find mom preparing our picnic. Mom told me to help make the sandwiches, one tuna for her, two ham and cheese for Jaclyn and I, and Peanut butter and jelly for Dad. Jaclyn arrived about 15 minutes before we left; she helped me finish the sandwiches, and then pack the snacks.
  2. After our picnic was all packed, we all got into the car ready to go to the fair. I couldn’t wait to get there. After about half an hour, the car slowed down and we came to a stop. We had a flat tire. Oh no, I groaned, we won’t get to the fair until after lunch! I then saw a sign and a building across the road. The sign said in big letters “Ol’ Jacks Horse Riding Trail” Dad went to ask about the tire, well mom, Jaclyn and I went to find out about the horse rides. They were twenty dollars per person for one hour. Dad came to find us, saying that the tire would take an hour and a half to fix. We decided to all go on the Horse riding trail, and then have a picnic lunch.
  3. It was the most fun I’d ever had. I chose a snow white horse with a beautiful white mane, her name was Snowy. Jaclyn chose a copper brown horse named Penny. Mom and dad both chose dark black mares. We set out on the trail. There were so many lovely flowers and plants that I had never seen before. There was even a lovely river which had a waterfall. After we got back from the ride, we found the perfect spot for a picnic. It was a lovely field full of trimmed grass and lovely flowers.
  4. We spread our picnic blanket and took out the basket of food. We all had our favorite types or sandwiches. Jaclyn and I shared a bag of our favorite chips, and we each had our favorite type of soda. What a lovely day this has been so far, I thought happily. The birds were still singing, for out here in the country. After our picnic, Jaclyn and I went to pick wildflower bouquets while Dad went to get the car. My bouquet was blue, while Jaclyn’s was pink.
  5. After a lovely horse ride and a perfect picnic, we got back into the car on the way to the fair. Jaclyn and I played car bingo while mom and dad talked. We had lost an hour and forty- five minutes back there, but it definitely wasn’t wasted! After another hour, we arrived at the fair to find that it had been canceled! We were disappointed, but we drove five more minutes to a fun looking museum. We stayed at the museum for two hours to see all the exhibits. There were so many fun exhibits we didn’t even want to leave! This was surely just as good as the fair, maybe even better!
  6. Next we went to the park. First we played on the playground equipment, but then Jaclyn and I played hide and go seek, tag, and other fun playground games we liked to play. By the time we were done playing there, it was supper time, so we decided to go out to eat. We went to a fancy Italian restaurant, because Italian as our favorite type of food. After that we went shopping at the mall, where we bought new clothes and toys. Finally, it was time to go home. On the car ride back we talked about all the great things we had gotten to do. Horse rides, a picnic, the museum, the park, and finally the mall. What a fun day this had been!
  7. When we got home, it was time for bed, so I went to brush my teeth. Then I slid into my warm bed and I thought of everything we had done that day. I could hardly get to sleep. Just before I fell asleep, I thought this day was even better than going to the fair. I had a great day, even though we hadn’t gone to the fair. I guess this is how it turns out sometimes when you set out to do one thing and end up doing something even better.
