I awoke alone, engulfed in darkness.
I knew not who I was, and felt nothing
But the deep, dark tugging within my bones.
I dragged my heavy knees, my heavy legs,
And my heavy head throughout the darkness.
A distant speck of brillaince beckoned,
Blinding and burning my eyes as I neared.
Slowly my sight adjusted to the glare,
The enlightening, illuminating,
Brightness of gold that shone upon the earth.
I saw vast fields of sand. Sand, sand, sand, sand.
Dunes. Dunes and dunes and dunes of sand, sand, sand.
A colorless liquid ran from my eyes
And like rivers of this deserted place,
There was no flow of blood within my veins.
Maybe I would understand my sadness
Had I a heartbeat, or had I a pulse,
