  16. I have noticed an increasingly significant problem with some of the major Anonymous
  17. Twitter accounts. For example, one the major accounts posted that a young lady had
  18. been arrested at Occupy Wall Street for writing on the sidewalk with chalk. While this
  19. is probably true the details are not given. Her arrest might have had a lot to do with
  20. what she was writing on the sidewalk (obscene remarks, etc etc). However only the
  21. details that she had been arrested for simply writing on the sidewalk were released.
  22. Naturally a wave of accounts instantly (without any investigation into the validity
  23. of the matter) began to tweet hate towards the NYPD. There was also another incident
  24. that was reported as police brutality. A guy who was refusing to co-operate with police
  25. was taken into custody and received a small scratch. However, this incident was reported
  26. as though the situation was severe and the police exercised heavy use of force. SRSLY?
  27. A minor scratch is NOT police brutality. Kelly Thomas is an example of police brutality.
  28. My growing concern is that a lot of Anonymous Twitter accounts are beginning to behave
  29. like the mainstream media today. They're reporting everything with their own spin on it
  30. and/or reporting unconfirmed stories that influence people to see it the way they want
  31. them to see it. This is why it is so important to do your own research. It is foolish to
  32. see it on Twitter and immediately take it as fact. I am beginning to see a growing trend
  33. of people posting false/unconfirmed/out of context information. It is up to YOU to make
  34. sure the information presented is valid. Do not simply believe it because a popular Anon
  35. Twitter account says so. There is an epidemic of ignorance. But I think together we can
  36. help change this. @AnonymousIRC said the Anonymous idea was built to fail. I respectively
  37. disagree. I believe we can change the world. But we will never achieve that goal as long
  38. as ignorance resides in us. We must educate ourselves. To be educated is to be prepared
  39. and we cannot achieve greatness unprepared. Some will disagree with me on the entirety of
  40. this letter. But some will see the importance of knowledge and education. Together we CAN
  41. make a difference. Never be mindlessly directed by others and never blindly follow in the
  42. footsteps of the masses. Join us ~ Educate yourselves
