  14. - “between” is a structure word (preposition), but it’s still pronounced with the full vowel
  15. - Structure words with two or more syllables usually have full pronunciation of the stressed syllable, but are unstressed in the sentence.

  17. For most words, you need to understand the reduced pronunciation, but you don’t need to pronounce them like that yourself. (You still need to correct stress and rhythm in the sentence.)

  19. There are some words that we will misunderstand if you don’t reduce them.
  20. I can talk right now.
  21. I can’t talk right now.
  22. - If you don’t reduce “can” in affirmative sentences, many people will hear “can’t”.
  23. You should at least reduce the vowel to a schwa: [kən].)
  24. You also shouldn’t stress “can”, because it’s an auxiliary, but you should stress “can’t”, because it’s a negative.

  33. - as a main verb, it should have stress

  36. - as a demonstrative (pronoun or determiner), it should have stress

  40. - as a relative pronoun, it shouldn’t have stress
  41. He’s the man that wrote my favorite book.
